Comments about Beachwaver Co. Beachwaver S1 Curling Iron:

my hair is very hard to curl or hold a curl but this does the job!! I did get an error 4 code but I unplug and plug it back in and its ready to go. I noticed it happens when I use an extension cord.

Comments about Beachwaver Co. Beachwaver S1 Curling Iron:

I have always wanted beachy waves, but my thick naturally wavy hair has never been good at holding a curl. I can now get the perfect curl in only 15 seconds and it holds all day. Not to mention I'm one of those people that can't use a curling iron to save their life. The Beachwaver S1 is definitely a game changer. It's now faster for me to curl my hair than it is to straighten, I get amazing volume and my hair even looks great the next day. I can't recommend this product enough! I only wish I knew about it sooner and Ulta's 20% off coupon made it even better!

    Unsafe: Kept Spinning!

Comments about Beachwaver Co. Beachwaver S1 Curling Iron:

I originally wrote a descriptive lightly review on this product a few weeks ago. I had only used the product once when I wrote the review. Since using it a few more times, I have discovered that this product is extremely unsafe. Think about it: you're putting yourself in the hands of a curling iron that spins by itself... pretty risky, right? I was using my Beachwaver when I let go of the rotation button... AND IT CONTINUED SPINNING UP MY HAIR! Immediately once I realized what was happening, I ripped the (STILL SPINNING) Beachwaver out of my hair before it was too late. The Beachwaver continued spinning until it reached Home- which was almost a full rotation up my hair. I decided to give it a few more tries thinking I might have accidentally hit Home and there wasn't anything wrong with my Beachwaver. Unfortunately, this wasn't the case, the same thing happened two more times. I'm lucky I reacted so quickly, otherwise my scalp would be toast! I wanted to love this product because I had spent so much money on it so I decided to give it a few more tries, just not in my hair. I experimented by holding the left direction button down, waiting for the Beachwaver to spin around 3-4 times. But when I released the button, IT KEPT SPINNING! I think it's safe to say that my specific one did not function properly and I have since then returned it.

BOTTOM LINE: Please test out your Beachwavers because you never know if yours could be dangerous. And also be cautious because sometimes it decides to work and sometimes it doesn't.

Comments about Beachwaver Co. Beachwaver S1 Curling Iron:

In going to get really in-depth here... Considering the price, I made sure I did my research on this one before purchasing. I watched many YouTube videos, read reviews, and talked to people who had it. I just got mine today. I originally bought the Hot Tools CeramicTI Tourmaline Curling Iron 1 1/4 inch and that was terrible. The Hot Tools one set the bar incredibly low for the Beachwaver, but it wasn't even a competition. Not only does the Beachwaver hold the curls so well, it's incredibly easy.

CONS: The reason why I didn't give this product 5 stars was because as some other reviews mentioned, the "home" button is too easy to push. (This creates a big problem because if the Beachwaver is in your hair, and you accidentally push the home button, there is no way to turn it off- the Beachwaver will spin left and keep spinning up or down your hair until it's back to home. This could potentially be a huge problem if the Beachwaver starts spinning up your hair and it can reach your scalp and keep spinning!) Another thing is, all the buttons are way too close to each other. I accidentally pushed home when i meant to push the clamp. Another concern is, the clamp is really strong. When I was trying to clamp my hair in, it was hard to keep it open because it was forcing itself closed.

PROS: It's mostly easy to use, the curl holds, it's easy to take the Beachwaver out of the hair without disturbing the curl, and you can create so many different types of curls by testing the variables. I could do different things depending on how long I kept the Beachwaver in, the temperature, the angle I held the Beachwaver, how much hair I clamped, and more.

BOTTOM LINE: I would recommend this, but please do be careful navigating the buttons. Practice makes perfect so I hope I get better at using the buttons. And lastly, watching YouTube videos will make using this product dramatically easier.

I hope this long review was helpful.

Comments about Beachwaver Co. Beachwaver S1 Curling Iron:

I have really long thick hair, so curling with a standard curling iron is tedious. This worked exactly as promised, with a great design that neither gets your hair tangled nor makes for easily burned fingers. I didn't find the waves from this product to last as long as I'd hoped, even with a lot of hair spray - i get longer lasting results from straightening iron curls without the hassle of having to section my layers to capture it all as i have to do with this product. That being said, its a great product for medium to long hair of a thin to medium coarseness.

I am interested in purchasing the Beachwaver, but what's the difference between the models? I have thick hair, just past my shoulder blades. I have seen there's 1.25, s1.25, then the ones that are $199. Thanks.

I have very thick hair that falls a bit below my shoulders. My problem has always been finding a curling iron that holds the curls. After a couple hours, my hair seems to fall flat because it's so heavy, unless I use an entire can of hairspray. Would the s1 be the best size or would the s1.25 hold a better curl?

Since your hair has a hard time holding a curl, we would recommend using the Beachwaver® S1 or Beachwaver® Pro. The great thing about the Beachwaver, is that you only need to hold the iron in your hair for 3-4 seconds. We recommend not touching your curls until they are completely cooled. Once cooled, you can run your fingers through or one of our favorite things to do is spray a flexible hold hairspray onto a nylon boar bristle brush and gently brush through your hair. This actually distributes the hairspray throughout your hair without making it crunchy or weighed down.

                          Hello!
My hair is pretty thick (no layers) blunt bob about jaw/mid neck length. I'm not the best at curling my hair so i figured i would give it a shot. Should i go with the S 1" or the .75" I'm afraid the .75" is going to give my tighter curls, and I'm just looking for beach waves. I'm sure i could go with the .75 but at a lower temp. But I'm also looking for one that can go with different hair styles. I'm always between collar bone and jaw bone length with my hair.

I just ordered the s1 and I am super excited. Although I am worried that I may have bought the wrong size. I have a little longer the shoulder length hair that is pretty thin. I am looking for more of a voluminous curl/wave rather than a twisty ringlet type curl. Would the s1 be the desired size for me?

The Beachwaver® S1 is perfect for hair that is shoulder length or longer! This barrel size will you give you the perfect relaxed beachy waves. A pro tip to make the waves softer and not as tight is to spray some flexible hold hairspary directly onto a nylon boar bristle brush and gently brush through your hair. Your waves will resemble the middle picture: http://images.ulta.com/is/image/Ulta/beachwaver-barrel-size-styles

Hello! The Beachwaver S.75 would be a great option for your shorter bob length hair. The S1 works best with hair that is shoulder length or longer.

I have highly bleached hair a little past my shoulders. I have medium thick and a medium amount of hair. If I purchase the pro will I be able to curl more hair at a time because of the longer barrel?

Hello! We always recommend applying a heat protectant to your hair prior to any heat styling. The Pro would be a great choice for your longer, thick hair. Since the barrel is an inch longer than our S Series, there is more space for the hair to rotate around the barrel.
