Most Helpful Positive Review Azurée - for men too? Of course! After reading Luca Turin and Tania Sanchez's lovely book, "Perfumes - The Guide", and Mr. Turin's review of Azurée, I must say I was intrigued and hooked. The combination of citrus, leather, herbs and amber were most appealing and sounded like something any self assured man could pull off - especially in today's rather anemic fragrance offerings that resemble candy rather than serious fragrances.
After reading that this elixir is usually kept out of sight at the Lauder counter, I felt that a call ahead might be in order to assure that it indeed was carried locally. So it was - and so I went and asked for it. The SA was very complimentary on my selection and upon making my purchse, I just couldn't believe the price - it actually threw me off, thinking that it might be a cheapened shadow of it's former self. So many classic fragrances have been reformulated beyond recognition, so indeed this did worry me.
How wrong I was! As soon as I got back to my car, I decided to open the package and treat myself to a home-bound spritz. WOW - is the only thought I could manage to muster. It's everything that I miss about REAL fragrances - I even had to glance back at my receipt to make sure that this wasn't a mistake, as it smells so very high-quality and rich beyond its price tag.
The citrus is just perfect - sunny, bright, non-foody and bracing - counterpointed by a mossy, green herbal sheen. The leather hits shortly thereafter along with some gorgeous florals to give it a lovely lift and diffusion - and lurking in the back is a light, but deeply resinous sweetness which glows with the amber light of dusk. The gentle transitions from accord to accord, plus the amazing sillage and longevity don't disappoint either - the quality is apparent in spades.
Guys - this juice is absolutely unisex. Any man will be able to wear this with absolute confidence and will adapt to a mans skin chemistry flawlessly. Trust me - I'm a guy and don't typically wear fragrances marketed to women. However, I'm finding that many women's fragrances from yesteryear are far more "masculine" than any of the wimpy, watery, synthetic travesties of today. I even wear Youth Dew (bath oil) and Aromatics Elixir, both of which have more quality and clout than most anything recent.
In closing, I'm just totally speechless and somewhat disappointed that I've only just discovered this jewel. Here's hoping that Estée Lauder continues producing this, and their other classic potions from days past for many years to come.
Most Helpful Critical Review Without oakmoss, it's nothing special I knew that Azuree had been reformulated several times, as I've been wearing it close to 35 years. But the last reformulation is the worst because it shows how the banning of oakmoss has destroyed fine chypres and classic leathers.
The old Azuree, with oakmoss, was a rich, wonderful fragrance with the most sensuous, delicious sillage. It was a wonderful parfum d'ambience, too. I was utterly besotted with it, and the men in my life went mad over it, especially in the dry-down.
If anyone wants to know what a bad idea banning oakmoss is, Azuree is a textbook case. Without the warm fixative of oakmoss, it is just another forgettable fragrance.
I have tried at least two dozen alternatives, but have decided to go without fragrance rather than submit to the noxious mixtures now sold. Sadly, the oakmoss ban has negatively affected other fragrances in Lauder's classic line.
Still love Estee Lauder, but disappointed in the micro-regulation of perfumery ingredients based on spurious evidence for potential allergies.
Thank you for the many years of delight in the classic Azuree. I will remember this scent for the magnificent lady she once was.

I have been wearing this fragrance for years now. It smells fresh and clean. I am always getting compliments about the way I smell ;+) I get compliments when I myself no longer smell the fragrance. So many perfumes make me feel sick and I have to wash the fragrance off immediately. This is my favorite!!

I have been a fan of Azuree since 1980 and I loved it and now listening to all the reviews, I am not going to spend $58 on something that is not the perfume I wanted. It is sad that you don't listen to your customer and are getting a negative reviews.

I miss the original scent 4

The original scent of Azuree is gone. I use to get so many compliments when I wore the original scent. Even the original bottle changed. The new packaged scent is just not the same as the original Azuree. Please bring back the original scent,
LOVE the new Azuree 5

I am a guy currently using this version of Azuree and I am happy to say that I now use it as my signature fragrance. I have 6 back up bottles sitting on my shelf :) I smelled it several years ago and it had a suntan oil smell. This version smells like a beautiful old school chypre. Very unisex if you ask me. I would love a soap or body cream to go with this fragrance. In this day and age you would be very fortunate to find one fragrance that suits you. I am very happy to have this.

Why Estee Lauder, Why? This is one of the best fragrances EVER and it has been my signature scent but you changed it. Please bring back the old formula. I literally got compliments every single time I wore it. Nothing compares with Azuree and now I have nothing.
Terribly disappointed! 1

I have been wearing Azuree for almost 50 years and loved the "old" Pure Fragrance Spray. I would gets lots of compliments and I felt good when wearing it like Estee Lauder intended, I'm sure. I don't know why the formulation was ever changed but it is not like the original scent. I have NEVER received a compliment while wearing the new stuff and I certainly don't have the same feeling I used to have when wearing it. I respectfully request that the company consider bringing it back. Thank you.
Another Disappointed Customer 2

I sent Azuree as a Mother's Day Gift. She said the fragrance is weaker and the color is lighter when she compared it to an older bottle of the same fragrance. This has been my mother's signature fragrance for at least 40 years. We are both disappointed that the formula has changed.
Why did you change it?!? 1
Cindy from Naperville, IL
I have tried this new version of Azuree and it doesn't even come close to the original. Not to mention I am allergic to the scent of this new version. PLEASE, bring back the original Azuree, as I miss my favorite perfume SO much!!! Had I known you were going to discontinue it, I would have contacted Estée Lauder sooner. I just recently finished the last of what I had of the original formula and tried what I was told was the same fragrance, just a different bottle style and it's no where close!! Can you please bring back my signature fragrance? I miss it SO much, as do my family, friends and co-workers!
Extremely Disappointed! 1
josie852 from DE
Like others, I have been wearing this fragrance since the 70's, and have always gotten compliments when wearing it. I did take a short breaks using it, but always went back to what I consider my signature smell. Every time I wear it, my daughter says it reminds her of her childhood. I have recently purchased a bottle and like others, am extremely disappointed. It is no longer my signature smell. While, it does smell similar to what it used to smell like, it is not the same. I don't know what you did to it, but could you please stop, and go back to the way it was before. I am glad I still have a half bottle of the original, and will use it sparingly, but I do not think I will purchase in the future unless you return to the original.

I need to agree with some other reviews I have read. I have used Azuree since my early 20's, i am now 72. I always received compliments on my scent and I could always smell my perfume on my clothes My children have always commented on the smell of my perfume Now I don't smell anything after putting it on What happened ? Why has it changed? The price is the same but the scent has disappeared so disappointed I actually bought two bottles recently and I want to return them until you produce the same product
You Ruined it! 1

This is definitely not the Azuree I have lived and worn for many many years.
Why did you feel the need to change it was fine.
Will no longer purchase - super disappointed.

So Sad 1
ConstanceWB from Fort Myers, FL, USA
I freely admit I have worn Azuree exclusively for over 40 years. I always loved it. When my kids went away overnight they begged me to spray their lovies with it so it smelled like mom. I have worn it everyday and always got compliments on it. The scent lasted all day.
Fast forward to last week when I ordered a new bottle online from Estee Lauder. The new bottle is pretty. The scent is gone. It smells nothing at all like the old bottle. The scent lasts on me for about 10 minutes and it pretty much smells like straight alcohol.
I can't begin to tell you how heartbroken I am that I no longer have a favorite or signature scent. But yeah, I guess I am just old for your target audience.

I have been using this fragrance for many years. Most of the time it is not even on display but honestly 1-2 times every week someone comments on my perfume. It is clean and so fresh. Sad bottle (size) changed.

I wear and love Estee and wanted to add another scent to my collection. Azuree sounded just wonderful. Unfortunately I did not like the scent at all.
Shipping was prompt and customer service very friendly and helpful. No problem returning at all.
Leathery freshness 5
Tunkers from Houston, TX, USA
Azuree is a new Lauder scent to me. I have been a Lauder fan for a long time, but only discovered Azuree a couple of months ago. This is a fantastic leathery fresh summer scent. It's unusual because artemesia, sage, and basil give it a herbal undertone, but aldehydes and oakmoss make it bright. There's enough patchouli to give it a spicy texture, but with a ylang-ylang and amber sweetness.
My favorite part is the dry down. Azuree lasts all day, and once it has been worn a few hours it mellows into a lovely, distinctive aura of crisp leather and sunshine. This scent is hard to describe.
Nothing else smells like Azuree.
