Most Helpful Positive Review Great mineral sunblock
I REALLY like this and plan to replace my more expensive dermatology office brand sunblock with it.
It goes on white and fades away completely (my skin is NC 30) which is great because I can see the areas I missed during application but I DON'T have to wear make up to fix my skin tone afterwards. The texture is a rich cream that dries to a demi-matte powder finish without drying out my skin. There also is a bit of a "soft focus" finish to it (maybe the silica?) that subtly enhances my skin after dry down. No irritation or stinging eyes with this formula. I think people looking for a good basic mineral sunblock will be pleased with this one.

This is my first time using a high end sunscreen, previously used a SPF 15 drug store and it was greasy so I wanted to try something matte. I have normal-dry skin, I need to wear my basic moisturizer every day or else my skin will be parched. I also have post-inflammatory acne scaring that makes my skin tone darker than it usually is. 1) my dry skin ate up this sunscreen, the matte/powdery finish looks amazing when you use a SMALL amount and let it settle on your skin for 30 minutes, any time before the sunscreen settles or if you use a large amount made me look like a ghost. 2) since the sunscreen gave off a crazy white cast at first, after it settled it actually was able to lighten up my scarring to look more natural.
TL;DR: use a small amount, pea sized, it will cover so much.
Reviewed by 53 customers Finally a sunblock for oily sensitive skin!

I have been searching for years for a sunblock for my oily sensitive skin. Most sunblocks have too much moisture, adding to my oily complexion. Sunblocks made for oil control bothered my rosacea. This one actually works! It's sweat resistant, meaning it doesn't run into my eyes on hot summer days. It doesn't clog my pores or irritate my skin. The zinc makes it slow to absorb, but it does blend in after a few minutes. I love this product!

I have rosacea [sensitive skin] and this SPF does not upset my skin, which can be hard to find. It does leave a white-cast and can be hard to massage in, but since I am very pale it still works for me. It does not mess with my makeup during the day. If you are a person of color the white cast may make this not for you, so beware of that. Overall a great daily mineral sunscreen for me.
Best Mineral Sunscreen!!
Nas from Atl
This sunscreen is so amazing!! I have a medium-tan/ olive skin tone and this doesn't leave a white cast on me at all. The finish is a more of a natural finish, which leaves my skin with a perfect lit-from-within glow. I have normal to oily skin and it works beautifully for me even when I reapply every 2 hours. Not sponsored, I'm just so happy I finally found a sunscreen that works for me.

This product makes my face look extremely purple. It's very unappealing to have that look on brown skin. I'll continue to use it but I will have to give myself maybe 30 mins before going outside to avoid looking like a ghost.
Everything I needed!

Let me start out with SPF is IMPORTANT! Sun exposure is the #1 cause for rapid aging. Now, I am 25 and live in the south. Sun is going to happen. I have dry sensitive skin that a lot of sun screen will upset. I always use a moisturizer with SPF of at least 30. I purchased this about a week or 2 ago. I put on all of my water based serums, then moisturizer, then this sunscreen, then face oils to lock it all in. This sun screen does have a bit of a white haze when you initially apply it, but it soaks in very quickly leaving no trace. The trick is not over applying. Learn the amount that is necessary for your skin. It leaves a matte finish which has severely helped make my skin look even and balanced. There's no greasy residue and it does not come off easily while sweating. I weight train everyday outdoors in 100 degree heat and have had no issues with it running. I always reapply after sweating heavily. Don't want those sun rays giving me wrinkles. Anyway. This is a solid product and will absolutely purchase again when needed.

very greasy. I thought it would be much lighter so cannot use it on my face.
Perfect for sensitive skin

Good Mineral Sunscreen

I have pretty sensitive skin, and I haven't had any problems with this sunscreen so far. It goes on smoothly, and doesn't leave a white cast, but I'm pretty pale, so it's possible I just can't see it. It is also unscented. The one drawback is that it leaves a greasy layer on the top of my skin. Not oily; it just feels like it never dries completely. Overall I would recommend it.
Great for sensitive skin

There is a white cast but very minimal. Feels like a lotion and it's very moisturizing. I have acne prone and very sensitive skin and this works amazing for me. Looks beautiful under makeup too!
My new go to!
Crose from CA
I love that this sunscreen didn't break put my skin! I have sensitive skin and every other sunscreen I've tried has left me with red bumps all over. This product went on easily, didn't feel greasy, and had no overwhelming scent. The only negative is that it is very white when you put it on. On my skin (light-medium) it went away pretty quickly but for anyone darker it might be a bigger issue.
best for my Type 1 rosacea
divaah from Woodstock, NY
This is the only sunscreen I can use, and I love it! I am sure to put it on at least 15 mins before I put on makeup. It's actually very soothing, doesn't bother my eyes, and lasts a long time.

OK, let's get to the PROs:
1. Great for people who wear contacts or who have sensitive eyes as this won't burn them. 2. Does not break out or irritate my sensitive skin. 3. Offers great sun protection 4. Water resistant for nearly 80 minutes, making it perfect for a beach or pool day.
Now here are the CONs:
1. Difficult to rub in, so I use LRP spring water to help glide it over skin 2. Leaves a white cast if you apply it liberally; therefore, apply it in very small, pea-size amounts in layers to avoid ghost face. 3. Would not wear under make up, especially if you have dry skin since it mattifies it even more. 4. The value for the money.
Overall, it's not a bad product but I can't say I'm in love with it either. Jury is still out on this one.
Perfect for sensitive skin!

It's perfect for sensitive skin! It's the only kind of sunscreen I have found that doesn't make my daughter breakout in hives or swell up!!
DO NOT RECOMMEND
Sassygrl777 from Ohio
Horrible, horrible white cast. And I am a very very pale person and it still leaves a awful white cast. Will NOT be repurchasing. Two of my friends of color tried it and it had a BLUE cast on their skin. Just awful. The only good thing I can say about it is that it doesn't break me out.
Love this sunscreen!
MandyTX from Dallas
I have sensitive, mature skin that needs maximum protection that doesn't irritate my skin. This sunscreen is perfect! It has a higher percentage of zinc which is calming, yet it doesn't leave a white cast -- after applying, any white cast disappears in a few minutes. I also like that it has antioxidants to help combat free radicals. Thank you, La Roche-Posay!
Worth buying product

It's an amazing mineral sunscreen ever I have used. Its does gives u little white layer because of its thick texture but it absorbs in the skin after some time.. I highly recommend this product.

It's very thick and doesn't sink into the skin. It also made my face and chest breakout.
It is amazing sunscreen

Great mattifying effect for oily skin!
olive from undisclosed
I think this sunscreen is a good value. I agree that it leaves a white cast, so this product might not be an attractive option for people who look ashy with any mineral sunscreen. This is a thick lotion. I found it difficult to apply to my face, but I can minimize the cast if I have time and spread one dollop at a time. Overall, I do manage to spread a dollar-coin-sized squirt to face, neck, and upper chest. I actually use this to mattify my face in the morning, apply a tinted sunscreen on top, and reapply with a different sunscreen throughout the day. I didn't expect the mattifying effect to help make sunscreen reapplication easier, but I have found that when I use the Gentle Lotion as my first application, subsequent applications of my chemical sunscreen are not as greasy and do not burn my eyes (my chemical sunscreen used to always travel and burn my eyes). I hope this helps you future reader!
It leaves a white cast.....
Samuel Lo from Columbus, OH
I was very excited to try this mineral sunscreen, as it has good active ingredients. However, the sunscreen leaves a white cast that never goes away. I waited for more than 30 minutes for it to soak in to my face but it just never happened which made me look like a geisha or ghost. The result was disappointing for a sunscreen at this price point.
Does not burn eyes
Gina from California
It does leave a white cast on but it fades over time. It was difficult to put on since it was like rubbing paste onto your skin, but it does not burn your eyes if you rub them later in the day which is a plus for me.
Thick texture, but good sunscreen
Jencifer from Oregon
This is a thick, yet good, sunscreen.
AND OF COURSE IT HAS A WHITE CAST; ANY MINERAL SUNSCREEN WILL LEAVE A WHITE CAST!
Mineral sunscreens are barrier sunscreens which do not 'soak' into skin the way chemical sunscreens do. People need to realize that it is a trade-off -- either a barrier/mineral sunscreen that is less damaging to the body and environment or a chemical sunscreen that causes bio-damage and has endocrine disrupters and other unpleasant/dangerous ingredients.
Finally, no white cast!
Carderic from Houston, TX
I am Hispanic/darker skin, and I've tried so many mineral sunscreens but this is the first that doesn't leave a white cast on my skin! It also feels ultra hydrating and smooth. No pilling.
Blocks sweat ducts
Irritated Buyer from NYC
I decided to turn to a more natural sunscreen (mineral) and read great reviews on this brand so bought some. First of all, this sunscreen is thick and is even more viscous than glue. It leaves a white cast on my arms, which isn't really a big deal for me but when I applied some on my neck and collarbone on an extremely hot weekend in NYC in July, my neck and décolletage became itchy initially before breaking full out into a rash later on in the day. I literally couldn't sweat in the affected areas and had little red bumps throughout that took a few days to disappear. I constantly had to have a supply of ice around to mitigate the itchiness but ultimately only time could help me. Not a pleasant experience for sure. Overall, I'll finish using the supply that I bought on my arms or legs but definitely not thinner areas like the neck or décolletage or parts where sweat can gather.

FIRST IMPRESSION: I received a sample and tried this for a few days. TEXTURE: very thick and hard to blend into the skin! I mainly use this for the body since it drags on the skin too much for the face. Also leaves a slight WHITE CAST. INGREDIENTS: titanium dioxide 5%, zinc oxide 15%.
