Most Helpful Positive Review I use this every day I'm glad I bought this before I read some of the negative reviews. Everyone has such different skin and I may have stayed away from this product once I read those, I'm glad I didn't! For reference: I am 44, acne prone, with dark skin and have eczema -- I'm allergic to a lot of products. I am also using a product for my acne called Tazorac so sunscreen is a necessity. I found this product to rub in well, it feels good, does not irritate, and I didn't feel like I had that white film you often get with sunscreens. I wear under make up and my make up goes on smoothly after. I do wait about 10 min post shower to put the lotion on, and wait until after I do my hair to apply my make up which I think helps with having it absorb and layering under make up. (If I put on the lotion while my skin is damp, it doesn't absorb well, and if I apply my make up immediately after, I do feel like it's a bit too much). I really like using this as it doesn't irritate with my eczema, moisturizes, does not cause break outs, contains the sunscreen I need and looks good under make up.
Most Helpful Critical Review Combination/Acne Prone Skin -okay not great I'll start by saying I really wanted to like this product. As someone with acne prone/combo skin, I'm hesitant to stray from my typical regimen. I use a benzoyl peroxide face wash as well as topical prescriptions (clindamyacin and retinol cream...both drying)to manage my acne per a dermatologist. In the past the best lotion experience I've had is with aveeno positively radiant. It's been getting pricey so figured I'd try something else in the same price range with the hopes of getting more for what I spend. I thought if anything a lotion labeled as being for normal to dry skin would be too heavy for me normally but may be a good option before and during winter as I do get dry then. I've been using the Cerave AM at morning and Cerave PM lotion at night hoping to beat the winter dryness before winter. After a few days of use, I'm debating going back to aveeno. It absorbs quickly, isn't greasy and overall I like the feel of the lotions. However I feel like my skin isn't as moisturized as it's been with other products. Maybe the people with naturally dry skin have a different experience b/c their skin is naturally dry and any added moisture helps. But for someone who typically suffers from dry skin only in the winter, I'm noticing rough patches (after swapping to this line) and it's just nearing the end of summer. I don't usuallywrite reviews, but noticed there didnt seem to be many for people with my skin issues. Just writing for all my acne/combination skin friends out there. Any other recommendations are appreciated. I debated trying just the traditional? Cerave..seemed like more of a heavy duty all over moisturizing cream. Might still give that a go in the winter.
Reviewed by 584 customers A bit hard to spread 5
Michelle from Pa
I really like this moisturizer because it keeps my face hydrated all day without making it oily. It is a little hard to spread and does leave a slight white cast, but it goes away after it dries down. I find that if I apply it onto damp skin, it makes it a lot easier to spread and solves the problem.

Looking for good spf from California
I had high hopes for this product and used it six times now, all six times I cussed myself out for using it. Save your money and try something else. It collected on itself and becomes rubs off like glue.
Not great 2

I wanted to like this, but it just doesn't work for me. The PM version without spf feels a lot more moisturizing and applies a lot easier. This product never wants to sinks into my skin, and always pills for me. The only way I can get it to apply is by mixing it with another moisturizer, which reduces the effectiveness of the SPF. Won't be repurchasing.
Major pilling !! Not for dry skin 1
AMANDA from WI
I really wanted to like this product as I've used Cerave body lotions as well as cleansers and loved them. However, this product is frankly not good in my opinion. It pills up immediately upon application and is not moisturizing. Product may be good for someone with oily skin, but for dry skin folks like myself, it is not moisturizing and therefore needs to be paired with something else, which is difficult due to the pilling. I've ended up washing it off and substituting a different product instead multiple times. Stick with the body lotions and cleansers but avoid this one !!
Leaves a White Cast and "Pills" 3
CC from NY
Product is great because it has SPF however it leaves a white cast on your face and "pills" on the skin.
Not great 3
Anna from Clare
I have dry, acne prone skin and I love the Cerave hyaluronic acid cleanser and the PM moisturiser. I got this moisturiser because I thought it would help avoid the pilling I get with my La Roche Posay SPF 60.
I just don't love it- it feels greasy and icky on my skin, while not being as moisturising as the PM moisturiser. It feels much more like a sunscreen than a moisturiser. I think it's also causing small breakouts. I would recommend using the PM moisturiser with a separate SPF!
Great Product 5
Andrea W from Colorado
Thick and moisturizing facial lotion. A couple pumps is all I need as this is very thick. So far it works great on my dry skin keeping it moisturized and feeling hydrated all day. I will see how it holds up in winter.
Favorite moisturizer with SPF 5
Anjy from Carmel, IN
I love this product. It's not as fun and glamorous as other moisturizers but it works and does what it says. My skin feels healthier, feels softer and moisturized. Plus I never forget SPF.
damaged when I got it 1
bee from Illinois
When I received the cerave moisturizer the pump is broken so I'm struggling to beat the product out of the bottle just to use it. I also ordered oils and one was spilt out in the packaging. I guess the products are good just go in somewhere to buy it.
I love CeraVe but not this Moisturizer 3
Kate from Texas
I love CeraVe products. I am a huge fan of their lotion so I decided to try this moisturizer. I just felt like it never fully absorbed into the skin all day. And if you live somewhere hot or sweat at all this is a really uncomfortable feeling for it to just sit on top of the skin like that. If you have oily/combination skin and/or plan to sweat at all I would not recommend this.
Favorite AM moisturizer 5
Lily360 from Seattle, WA
This is my favorite morning moisturizer! It's a nice moisturizing, lightweight moisturizer and I love the SPF it has in it. This is always a repurchase for me!
LOVE this stuff 5
Sarah from Ohio
I hear everyone ranting about pilling and casting, but I've never had a problem with either. I layer toner, derma E vit. C serum, then Olay Regenerist serum, and top with this moisturizer, and it all blends perfectly! As soon as I finish rubbing it in the white cast is gone. It even acts as somewhat of a primer for my makeup due to the thicker texture and consistency. Definitely give it a try, esp. if you've enjoyed other CeraVe products!
Wouldn't recommend 2
D. from Florida
If I really rubbed it in my hands first than applied it the white cast wouldn't be so bad but still too much work and I don't believe it worked into my skin well. I wouldn't recommend to brown and darker tones of skin at all. Not worth the cost or time.
Does not blend into your face 2
Soph from San Diego
At first I thought it was just a matter of learning how much and how long to rub it into your face but after almost a month of use, it is probably not what you are looking for.

I really wanted to like this product but it didnt do it for me. It had alot of white cast even when I tried using the smallest amount of product and I have pale skin and even when I though it was all in it would flake off through out the day not my skin but the product it self. Less is more with this product.
Horrible Pilling 2
K from Edgewater, NJ
I was prepared to love this product. I trust CeraVe implicitly because it's so trusted by dermatologists and skin specialists/influencers, and most of their products do seem to benefit a broad range of people, but this specific lotion is a no-go. I cannot get past the horrendous pilling of this lotion; I've been using this every morning for a few months now and am about halfway through the bottle — I hate to waste but idk if I can finish this just because of how unpleasant the application is. The lotion is creamy and fairly lightweight like a traditional moisturizing lotion, but has a strong white pigment which needs to be rubbed into the skin well to avoid a white cast. The more I rub though, the more this pills and balls up into big flakes that make a huge mess and leave my face looking really weird with pilled up lotion all over the place. If I try to avoid the pilling by minimizing the rubbing, then I have a white cast and spotty application. At first I thought the lotion was maybe reacting badly to another ingredient in my AM routine (I use a hyaluronic acid serum, the niacinamide serum from The Ordinary, azelaic acid from The Ordinary, and Rosacare from Procure), but even when I rub this on my neck where I do not apply other skincare ingredients, I get the same pilling. And based on other reviews here it seems to be a common issue. The lotion also makes me look a little greasier than I'd like, but it's not irritating, there's no fragrance, and it doesn't seem to break me out (I'm acne-prone). The SPF coverage also seems to be effective as I often wore this on long walks in the sun this summer and did not experience sunburn, even though I tend to burn easily. The ingredients are probably very beneficial for the skin as well but the pilling just turns me off so I won't be repurchasing.
Purple Casts and Crumbling Product 2
Sher from Florida
I was excited for this product because I heard nothing but good things about it. However, the very first time I used it, I noticed a purple cast on my face. It looked like someone was shining a blue light on my skin. I decided I would still use it because I heard it had great benefits, so I incorporated it into my skincare routine. This was a mistake. In the mornings, I use hyaluronic acid(The Ordinary) before my moisturizer. The Cerave moisturizer interacted negatively with the hyaluronic acid, and would create crumbles as I rubbed it into my face. This crumbling and the purple-cast on my face were enough for me to decide this product was not for me. For my dark-skin friends, leave this product on the shelf/website.
Not my favorite 2

I wanted to like it so bad but it pilled up really badly even after I waited 15 min after doing my skin routine to make sure my skin is completely dry :(

All in one!!! Don't need to use lotion and sun screen lotion
It's A No From Me 1
Nick from Michigan
REALLY wanted to like this so I wouldn't need to buy a separate sunscreen, but it just didn't work at all for me. The product smells SO MUCH like sunscreen that it's overwhelming to keep on my face all day and makes my eyes water. The whitecast is also very unforgiving! I'm a fairly light skinned person (N4 @ MAC) and if this won't even blend into MY skin, then it definitely won't work for anyone with a deeper skin tone. It's so hard to find a good mineral sunscreen!
would not buy this again 1

left my skin super oily, made me break out worse. i would not recommend this moisturizer. i don't know how to explain it but after you put it on, it like peels
Protects my skin 5
Cherry Z from Tucson
I use it every morning after cleansing my face. I like that it has spf 30 to protect my skin. But I know I'm going to be outside golfing or hiking, I still put on sunblock over it because I have fair skin
Saved my skin 5
Nah from Mechanicsburg PA
I made this a consistent part of my skin routine about 2 months ago, and I've definitely noticed a vast improvement in my skin. I'm very oily, but a good amount of that comes from dehydrated skin. So using the foaming cleanser with a hydrating toner with this product has absolutely saved my skin!
I would not recommend 1
Lina from Des Plaines, IL
I use CeraVe cream and I love the products. I was using the PM moisturizer for the day and I decided to try this product because of the sunscreen, what a mistake... I broke out so bad and now I have a pretty bad acne all over where I was using this cream.
Terrible Flaking 1
K.N from Florida
This product left me with so much flaking and a ghostly white cast. My skin doesn't feel moisturized and I am very disappointed.
