Most Helpful Positive Review Great clear mousse, easy application, and good color for me I am somewhat olive-toned, medium, and I tan pretty easily. Throughout the year I self tan my legs to match my naturally tanned arms, and on my face/décolletage/neck I use Tanologist face/body drops (which also work well on my body but I find are the absolute best for my face). Over the last two years I have tried 28 other self tanning products (drugstore to high end, including other St. Moriz products, Tan Luxe, Fake Bake, Clarins, SkinDrop, Vita Liberata, Minetan, Banana Boat, Australian Gold, Tanceuticals, Jergens, Loreal, La Mer Gradual tan, and more). This was my latest to try and I was extremely pleased with the nice natural tan it produced for my legs. I love that there is no color guard/guide, and I'm careful to apply in large circles (I do this the day after thorough exfoliation/shaving). It is easy to apply with a mitt (and disposable glove underneath to be safe) –  the whole thing takes about 10-15 minutes max. Before applying, I follow the directions and put lotion on my feet and knees/dry spots first/then let lotion dry. After applying the mousse, I buff out lightly around toes/insoles/ankles/knees with the dry side of the mitt. I let it dry (it is a bit sticky and takes some time to dry, but is not the worst), and then put on loose sweats and sleep on an old sheet (probably not necessary but I don't want to take chances). Some color starts to develop in an hour and I leave it on overnight until the next day. It continues to develop for over 24 hours. The color produced is on the lighter side, but on me there is no orange/yellow (more 'cooler' toned brown which is great and what I'm looking for). While this is probably going to be my 'go to' tanner in the colder months, for summer time I can apply two days in a row and have a nice, natural, brown medium tan that is a very close match to my arms. My husband liked the tan even though it was not the darkest I've tried. I have seen no streaks or flaws so far and I appreciate that they seemed to make this pretty foolproof. As a mousse, it is not as drying on my skin as others, but I have older skin (in my 50s) so I find it is not super moisturizing like a tanning lotion. There is a fragrance but it is not super strong or offensive (sort of a subtle 'clean' scent to start then a bit of the usual self tanner smell, which I actually like), and my husband didn't notice anything unless he puts his nose on my knee. As for how long the tan lasts, I try not to take hot showers because I have noticed a tiny bit of color can come off on a tissue after a hotter shower (nothing is perfect). So, I dab (not rub) with the towel to dry off my legs, however, I can say this is among the least transferring tanner I have used on my legs. Fading starts to happens after about 5 days later and is very natural and not splotchy or weird. About a week later, I exfoliate and then reapply the following day. If you want a really dark tan this is not for you. Personally, I'd rather use a more subtle self tanner (one that is less dramatic/messy/tricky) and this isn't a very warm shade on me, so this is great for me color-wise and the price is perfect. As I said, I tend to want to go a tad bit darker in the summer than my 'winter tan,' so for now I'll apply two days in a row which is easy and quick. I'm not sure how long this bottle will last me as I seem to go through a decent amount just using about 4-5 pumps per leg each time. It is possible I could get away with using less but I want to make sure I get it everywhere. I rank this as among my top three self-tanners (among 29 total). I strongly recommend this if you like the original St Moriz mousse (but don't need/want a tinted color guide) and prefer a natural looking tan.
Most Helpful Critical Review Broke out in hives I tried this product because I have used St. Morris for about 5 years and have never had problems with their products before. The clear formula and mess free application is why I chose this one instead of the typical dark mousse I use. About 20 hours after application I woke up with massive, itchy and painful hives. I have never had an allergic reaction to any product before so I was very surprised. My skin was ridiculously swollen, and I had to be prescribed steroids to manage it. It lasted days.
Main point is, do a patch test. Even if their other products haven't caused anything before.
I'd also like to point out that besides the massive, full body, allergic reaction it gave me, it had almost to color payoff. I'm still just as fair as I was when I started. Not worth it.

This tan is very easy to apply but is maybe not ideal for beginners. There is no color guard but the formula is very smooth and goes on the skin easily with no patchiness

I wish I could upload a photo to show how this did absolutely nothing on my skin.
Game Changer! 4

I've tried many brands/types of self tanners at this point, and this is my favorite by a long shot. Smooth, even coverage without the hassle of a color guard. Although it doesn't last more than a week, it does fade evenly, and does not get splotchy like all the other brands too. A single bottle lasted me twice as long as other brands as well. I will definitely be repurchasing this product.

I wanted to love this 3

I wanted to love this product, and for all intents and purposes I did.
However the itching was unbearable and it lasted about a week even after several showers.

I've been using St Tropez water mousse for years. Bought this on a whim last visit. It's every bit as good!
not really beginner friendly 2

this is the first self tanner i've tried and it's just not it for me. i do not like the fact that it has no color guard because i can't see where i've applied and where i haven't, thus it typically comes out pretty patchy on me and i need to touch up areas. it's not the most natural tan color either, it comes off slightly orange on my fair skin... and DO NOT sleep in this! i tried to last night after letting it dry for multiple hours and i woke up with tan completely missing on my arms and legs. maybe i'm just too rough in my sleep? either way, in my opinion you can find better for a few more dollars (i'm going to try bondi sands next!) the only pros i can think for this product is that it doesn't stain your clothes or sheets since it has no color guard, but other than that it definitely takes some work to make it look good. won't be buying again :(
Not for me 1
isa from Bellingham, MA
I self tan often, I wanted to try a different and cheaper tanner so i bought this one. I applied as I normally would, from the bottom up, using a mitt, circular motions. But it still came out quite patchy. As it wore off it was even more patchy.
This takes the scary out of self tanning! 5

This stuff is great. Seriously, if you're concerned your self tan will be orange, don't be! This stuff works great, the smell is far less than I've noticed (especially after showering it off). I put it on - blending in small circles until my arm is about to fall off, and then wait half a day before I wash it off. Its even gentle enough on my sensitive, finicky face! Will buy again and again!

I use this during the week after I use their dark tanning lotion once a week and this works well then. Otherwise it's barely a glow.
New to me 4

I use this product in tandem wit my Sol body self tanner. It is a water that turns into a mousse when you spray it. Easy application with my tanning mitt a bit darker in color. The smell is a bit stronger than my other product but not overwhelming. I use it at night and it gives me a nice glow.

Best self tanner I've used in quite some time 5

While this didn't initially make me super dark, it is the easiest self tanner of all time, and it is buildable. Use it more than one day in a row for best results. Gorgeous natural color, even fading, wonderful
lovely natural looking tan 5
Maura from New York
This foam has a lovely texture and fresh scent It is clear so you have to pay attention where you apply. Lovely self tanner and color is very natural. It wont make you very dark (for that, I would recommend looking into dark classic mousse from St Moriz; I have used it for years in the summer). This one will give you that sun-kissed look; not too dark, but just right.
The best sunless tanner that I've ever used 5
Ellie Jellybean from Columbus, OH
I'm pretty fair skinned with lots of freckles so it's difficult for me to find a self tanner that doesn't streaker leave glaring bare spots....until now. I can't say enough good things about it. It's easy to apply, doesn't transfer to clothing, dries quickly, gives you a nice even tan that isn't orangey, and lasts for days
high end kind of self tanner! 5
Barbara from Knoxville
I rally like that this is a clear mousse since I can wear white underwear and not stain anything when applying. the smell is actually very fresh; kind of unisex scent; I liked it a lot. Easy to apply with the glove and next morning I saw a beautiful vacation tan! in quarantine LOL. Tan was even not orange AT ALL. I find all St Moriz products I tried give me very nice , true vacation tan, no orange undertone. I have fair to medium colored skin. Love it and definitely will buy again. I rally want to try the drops from St Moriz, heard great things so that's probably my next on the list.
Best one I've used so far 4
Emma from Sacramento
This is a great tan for new users, gives a nice warm tone to skin however certain undertones may turn more orange. It's also hard to know if you've missed any areas because it's clear, but not a huge hassle. Would buy again, def brings some color to your skin.
Love the tan, strongly disapprove of the smell 2
B from Indianapolis, IN
Two stars because the tan itself looks great. I used it twice now, as directed in the evening (slept and rinsed off in the AM) and have a pretty solid tan going. Had a few streaks, but nothing overwhelming and they blended in within a few days. But the smell, the smell was OVERWHELMING to say the least.
The first couple hours had a good scent. Then the regular self-tanner scent started to kick in (which was fine, I expected that at some point or another)... but then I started to smell like straight up liquid that goes from your body into the toilet during a workout the day after I applied it. But hey, social distancing and I'm working out by myself anyways, I'll just shower it off. So I did, but then I made the mistake of going round 2 with this product. I reeked for 2 days and I didn't even workout. Four showers later, I'm back to smelling like a normal person. Was literally embarrassed to be around my husband. I really want to love this because the tan does look great, but I can't get past that horrible odor.
the best! 5

I have tried EVERY kind of self tanner available and this is amazing. I love the st. Moriz products and I have been using them for years this was the first time I have used the clear developer and I love it. I'm very fair skinned and this I put on after a shower and usually wash it off the next morning and I have a dark natural, lasting tan, no streaking and it doesnt gather around my elbows and wrists like I've had happen in the past. highly recommend!
She's Perfect & no yucky colour guide! 5
JRabbit from Seattle
I've used the main St. Moritz Dark Mousse routinely for 2 years and was hoping they would release a clear version as the whole washing off colour guide was getting old - and voila here she is! Although this doesn't give me quite the deep level of tan as the standard mousse does, I still love this and will purchase again for sure. The undertone of their tanners is perfect - no orange vibes here 👌. It doesn't have that harsh self-tan smell, doesn't stain your bedding/clothes, and noticed the colour actually builds up over 24 hours. I've left this on anywhere between 3-8 hours (or fully overnight), rinse, and have a natural golden tan that lasts a week before I touch up. Again, if you're looking for that deep-dark vibe, she ain't it, so hopefully SM releases a darker version soon too! But super happy to have an express mousse that I don't have to leave on my skin forever to get a natural sun kissed tan. In the meantime, this puppy is in my weekly circulation 🤘.
Amazing water foam! 5
Anna from New York
This is better than some of the high end product! Does not dry my skin; applies evenly (takes a bit of technique and I use the mitt); does not stink (it has kind of fresh scent). Bottle lasts long and price is great! I want to try the drops too now!!
Good Product i will go into full detail 5

I want to give a full review since when I bought this product there wasn't one! I also attached photos!
I do really like this product! A friend and I bought this because I needed a quick tan that wasn't orange! (on some skin tones it could be orange but I am a medium white tone and it gave me that summer glow!)
This product does come out clear which means you can't see if you got every spot on your body, the first day I used it I missed a spot on my wrist (which I fixed the next day by putting on another coat)
Application! I would recommend getting a mit (which i normally don't do because i like to rub it in and feel where and how much I put on my skin) It did turn my hands "orange" but really it was just darker than my body (which i got off my scrubbing them in the shower) Other tanners I let sit on my body for a hour then wash them off, this product is not like that. After a hour it starts to make you darker so I left it on for a few hours! My friend left it on all night and washed it off in the morning and she turned out the perfect color, I was scared to do this the first time but I did do it the second time and woke up dark and pretty! This product doesn't leave streaks! it was not harsh on the skin and felt like a moisturizer! If you leave it on for a while you may feel "sticky" but it isn't a bad feeling or uncomfortable! (it just feels like moisturizer)
I also LOVE that it is clear because you can sit in a white chair and get nothing on it, sleeping with it on in white sheets did nothing to my bed! So that is amazing!
How much did I use? I would say I used a lot only because i needed to be dark quickly, i used two pumps on my legs and other sections like arms, stomach, back. Using two pumps for your body took almost no product out of the bottle (mind you I am short, but my friend is 6 inches taller than I am and also didn't use much of the bottle)
Overall Great product and WOULD SUGGEST!
nice light tanner 4
Cassie from Washington
The only complaint I have about this product is that it didn't give me a whole lot of color. I am pretty pale so that might be why it worked for me. Other than that it is a great tanner, it dried fast and I didn't feel super sticky like I normally do with other tanners. It also did not have a strong smell, usually I smell like tanner for the next couple of days after tanning. If I want a nice subtle tan that adds a little color I will definitely use this.

I am a dedicated Fake Bake Darker user however I was sick of ruining sheets, clothes, and furniture with the guide. Due to the price, I gave this tanner a brave try since it was clear. I am IN LOVE. I never got the bad tanner smell. Had no wear off on my clothes or sheets and have a great dark tan! I applied with gloves instead of a mitt (mousses are so light I feel like gloves absorb all the product) and allowed it to develop the full 48 hours. I saw a color change within an hour or two so this is very controllable. I am typically "no sun my whole life" pale. My boyfriend says I look like I took a month long tropical vacation!
