Most Helpful Positive Review One Month In
As stated in the headline, I've used this product for a month and I am thrilled to the point of sitting down to write this review! As the transition into winter-time started I noticed my scalp FREAKED out. I found myself with a dry, itchy scalp and I felt like my "hydrating" shampoo was just covering up the problem and creating more build-up. I had done some reasearch online and this was one of the recommendations so I went in store to pick it up. It's $9 and I probably could have used a coupon but the price was worth it because you get a lot. The first week I used this product twice, now I use it once a week at the beginning of the week for maintenance. I recommend the following:
1)Get hair damp and then generously lather the product on. The more you scrub the easier it rinses out.
2)After lathering the product for about 2-3minutes, let it sit
3) Rinse, then lather on regular shampoo
4) Rinse throughly
I tried to use this product alone but found that I still needed to use shampoo afterwards to really clean and rinse out the product. You may find that you have some small "beads" leftover but it's not impossible to rinse out. Think of it like apricot scrub for your scalp.

I wanted to absolutely love this product, but it's falling flat for me, unfortunately. It smells lovely and the price is great, but instead of removing buildup, I ended up feeling like I had more when I got out. I tried everything to properly rinse my scalp off but the little exfoliating beads will not budge. I don't think I'll be able to use it again unless I can figure out a method for rinsing really intensely. I tried submerging my hair in the water, using a cup to rinse it, and using my shower head on varying levels of intensity and water pressure (it's handheld and I tried using it right on my scalp too) NOTHING seemed to work. It got rid of some of it but not all and it's so annoying to run my hand through my hair only to feel the exfoliating beads still there. Grab a different product off the shelf. This one leaves behind more gunk than it takes away. Disappointing.

It doesn't matter how long I rinse or what kind of brush I use to detangle my medium-thickness, 3b curly hair, those beads will never come out completely!!
A must for scalp psoriasis
Vickie G from NJ
I have scalp psoriasis and this beauty has helped me week to week to have a clean scalp. Now I know most people don't love the exfoliating beads but they really help to release any stubborn flakes or buildup. I never have a wash day without this. I have very thick, curly hair, and this has been a totally game changer for me loving my scalp and hair. Sometimes i find some beads when I'm styling, but, honestly, I could care less because my scalp is plaque free. Love love love!!!
Won't wash out!
Kam from Cleveland
I scrubbed abs washed my hair for 30 minutes and still couldn't get the beads out of my hair. I eventually gave up and left them. It took 2 good washes the next day to remove them from my scalp!
Ihtzel from Illinois
The product smells great and it feels nice massaging it in. But the beads are pesky to wash out and honestly it doesn't feel like my scalp is exfoliated per say.
Can't wash the beads out!
Ling from Maryland
I tried using this on my scalp massager but the gunk gets stuck in the rubber bristles and is difficult to remove. I put the product directly on my scalp and then used the massager but the beads were impossible to wash out of my scalp, which was ironic. I found them in my hair for a couple of days after. The product is very gunky and sticks to the wall and other surfaces.
Good enough, Have to work with it.

So I've been using this product for about a year, maybe a year and a half and I like what it does for my scalp. I find it clears all the build it has as I only wash my hair once a week and it makes shampooing a lot easier.
I take my time scrubbing my whole head and I take my time to rinse it out as well. It does take work to rinse out and I find the best way to have the handheld directly over my hair and working my hand through it in sections. you really have to have running water directly over it to get most of it out. I still retain some beads here and there but nothing bothersome as I've been working with the product for a while and my rinsing technique has improved. Plus rinsing shampoo and conditioner also helps get the rest of the residue off.
I do wish it was easier to rinse out but again I like the effect it has on my scalp so I tolerate it. My hair feels much lighter when I hop out the shower and this is part of what allows me to go so long in between washes.
Overall, if you want something as super quick pre-wash step, this isn't for you. But this product can be good if you're willing to work with it.
A must have

I use this about once every two weeks to help get rid of buildup and freshen up my scalp. It's perfect on wash day or when you need that extra clean. It's a great start to your regular wash day routine

I was a bit hesitant about the beads since I have thick curly hair, but thankfully the beads do come out without too much trouble if you rinse/comb your hair right. The beads do take a little time to get out but in my opinion it's worth it. It smells really nice. Left my scalp really refreshed and took care of the itching I've dealt with for a few years now!
Did not care for

The little beads did not wash out of my hair no matter how thoroughly I tried to wash them out.
Those beads....Those beads....I can't get them out!

I hated this. I spent forever trying to rinse these pesky beads out of my hair. It was agonizing. NEVER again!

So great! Worked really well for exfoliating and getting rid of the build up. It worked well on my hair but I have thin hair and I don't know about thick hair. :)
Not a Fan
KaiLas from Alabama
I'm not really a fan of this. I have had a pretty itchy scalp and bought this in hope that exfoliation would help. I actually think it made it worse, simple because the "beads" don't wash out easily. They dried on my scalp and caused more itching.
I don't recommend this, very hard to wash out the scrub
Kim from Vancouver, WA
My husband didn't mind the product and was able to rinse it out well. I had little gritty "moon stones" on my scalp all day, very difficult to rinse out. I'm glad I had a coupon and it was heavily discounted!
Love it 😍
Violet from North Hollywood
Was my first time using it as soon as I scrubbed it onto my scalp it felt so soothing and refreshing I felt like I was definitely pampering myself. It's all about the experience! I have mixed curly hair more on the dry side so I apply lots of oils during the week this right here made my scalp feel squeaky clean I don't mind the leftover miniature beads eventually it will all wash out. My purpose is to have a clean hydrated scalp and this works!! Exactly what I expected.
Very difficult to wash out
Petrice from CA
I have very curly hair this was impossible to wash out. It was very frustrating. I followed the directions and rinsed and rinsed and still could not wash out the little beads. Maybe this would be better for straighter hair or not thick hair? I have loved every not your mother's product I've tried except this. Will be returning.

Beads stay in hair no matter how well you wash and rinse. will take other reviewers advice and use as a body/foot scrub but will not repurchase.
Great for skin...
Aislin from Florida
So I wanted to give this 2 stars. It smells great but I have thick hair so it was very hard to use it as a scrub for scalp. It gets everywhere and wouldn't wash off. Even an hour in the shower you will feel little beads later on when your hair is dry..it is weird. Anyways, I was going to throw it away until I had an idea to try it on the rough spots of my body (i have keratosis pilaris). I use it along with Cerave body wash and oh my god it is so soothing and gentle but left my rough spots moisturized and soft. I can't believe it. I am not sure if this is a good use for it but I have been using it on and off for two weeks and my skin has never felt better. The consistent and huge amount of beads in this cream is a really good scrub. It is also very gentle!

so if you don't mind having the beads still on your scalp than this product is pretty dang good. I have dark, thick hair and the beads are black so I really don't mind. I have eczema on my scalp so I have to use a lot of oily, thick hair products which can cause buildup and give me terrible dandruff. this stuff gets rid of the buildup without drying up my scalp or irritating it. overall I think it's a good product if you can get over the beads.
Peekachicka from Pittsburgh, PA
I love this stuff, I use it 2x a week to scrub out any build up then follow up with a cleansing shampoo. The key to getting out the beads is a shampoo brush. Works 100% every time. Even with psoriasis, dry skin is gone along with the beads.
I take 3 clumps in the shape of a triangle on the crown of my head and rub them through my scalp with my fingers. Next I'll scrub my scalp with my shampoo brush, rinse, and repeat with my cleansing shampoo. Finally I'll condition as usual.
Dandruff, psoriasis, dry, itchy, and flaky scalp are all taken care of. Now my curls are forming again cause they're not weighed down. I thought I had a curl type 2, naw it's 3.

I got this bc I have horrible dandruff and wanted to try an exfoliant but this product is horrible. It is made out of microbeads not a natural exfoliant so I find the beads in my after days after wash, even after another wash without using this product. I found just using my regular drandruff shampoo alone works way better and this product isn't worth your $$
Difficult to Use For Thick Hair
Koko from CT
I have long, thick hair and I find it hard to get the product onto just your scalp. The little bursting beads are exfoliating, but they get stuck in your hair. It might be a better product for short hair. My boyfriend loves using it!
Do not buy this if you have large scalp pores!
Liz from Kentucky
I bought the product to try to regenerate hair growth and refresh my scalp, but the beads in this keep getting lodged in my scalp pores and causing my skin issues. it did seem to be helping my hair some, but not enough to deal with these horrendous beads
Beware of beads!
Meagan from Usa
Yes this does not work but be careful with how much product you use, because this leaves small beads in your hair for days!
Heiderz from PA
I am always using product on my hair since I have thick curly hair. So most of the time I have a lot of buildup and dry scalp and it itches a lot. I've started using this once a week and it has helped the itch and build up tremendously! Highly recommend
I used this once and it cleared up my scalp!
Mandy B from OR
I am very happy and impressed with this product! For some reason, my dandruff started to get worse and it was to the point that it was uncomfortable & would show up in my hair (I have black hair). After researching, I decided to try this out since it was cheap and available for pick up near me.
I wasnt expecting much out of this tbh, but wow am I amazed. I put it in my scalp, scrubbed really hard, let it soak, and rinsed it out then shampoo and conditioned. When my hair dried, I had NO flakes. None! And my hair was super soft and shiny.
I think I had a buildup of product in my hair which causes irritation and dandruff. This product got rid of all that plus all the beads were rinsed out.
