Most Helpful Positive Review Great for every-day use
I have tried just about every foundation that Ulta has to offer and this one has been one of the most natural-looking foundations for my skin type. Since I was about 12 (i'm 23 now) I have struggled with acne-prone, oily skin and I have yet to find the perfect foundation, although this one, and a few others, are close. With this foundation, I simply wash my face in the morning, moisturize, and apply the foundation with a make-up sponge ( the Clinique consultant told me not to use primer so the salicylic acid can treat my skin). It goes on very lightweight and looks super natural (doesn't sink into pores, lines, or cake up around the nose area). My only concern is the separation and patchiness that I have seen around my chin area after wearing the foundation for a few hours, but I think that may be from the acne cream that I am using to treat my breakouts in that area. The other areas of my face stay perfectly smooth. Another issue that I have noticed with Clinique is that their foundation can have an orange tint if you're not careful with the color match. I would recommend getting a shade lighter and darkening the forehead and cheeks with bronzer to avoid looking like a pumpkin! This is a good everyday foundation but I would recommend something like Estee Lauder Double Wear or Becca Ultimate Coverage for a night out or for a longer than usual day.
Most Helpful Critical Review An okay foundation
It's an okay foundation . I liked the fact that it had shades for black women . I didn't want to spend $48 on the smash box but I guess I will next time . One thing I love is that it has a matte finish no shine. But it doesn't cover the best. Can still see my dark circles and scars . Have to put a lot over the scars . It also smells like alcohol from the medicine in it which I'm not a fan of . But it was cheaper and better than my bare minerals one so that's a plus . If you have scars I'd go with a different brand .

I'm obsessed with this foundation. It's one of the best for oily skin & it's one of the more inexpensive prestige foundations. I have purchased this so many times.

I have used this foundation for years! Buildable coverage and settles nicely. My skin loves it.
Best for acne!
MJ from TX

I have used this makeup for years. I do not have acne ......it used to be called Oil control years ago. It has great coverage and helps with my oily zones.
Helps Acne but Its Orange
Mic from Ohio
First of all, this is over priced. But, its the only foundation that doesn't irritate my acne prone, sensitive skin. The colors are extremely orange though.
My go to Foundation for years!
Micmac from Vermont
I've been using this foundation for years! I've always struggled with acne and although this foundation doesn't necessarily heal my acne, I've never known it to make my acne worse (like every other formula I've used did). Its super easy to put on and doesn't get cakey throughout the day! It also actually covers up my acne without using any other products (unless I'm having a particularly rough skin week) — most other foundations thay I've used have only 1/2 covered the redness, etc. I seriously use this every single day and highly recommend!
Just not worth it
Aly from Birmingham, AL
This product just did not work for me. The formula broke apart on the oily areas of my face and clung to any of my dry patches to create an overall patchy finish.

I gave this 4 stars because I think it is way too pricey, however, I do like this foundation. It has a very natural finish, and the shade range is pretty decent. I wouldnt say its super matte, but definitely not dewy. There is alcohol denat high up in the ingredients which is NOT good for skin, but hopefully this doesnt harm my acne prone/sensitive skin.

No idea if this foundation does what it claims. I have very pale skin and the lightest shade was so orange that while swatched on my arm it was mistaken as a bruise. So if you have very fair skin I suggest not wasting your money on this item.
It does clear the skin but will also burn and cause bleeding
Arie from Los Angeles, CA
I used this every day and in the end it caused my skin to burn, crack, and bleed. I guess the marks left were also what is called hyper-pigmentation? It looked more like a burn mark to me. It caused the burns around my mouth area and chin and from my experience with skin peels--that's the area to peel first, so with that I believe they were burn marks. I discontinued before they spread further. On my part, I should have discontinued as soon as I noticed my skin getting darker around that area. Only after it started to dry more was it discontinued. After that I had to heal my skin. Only now with scar away and a skin peel is it gone. I guess I thought it would work because I've had experience with these types of products but it was just too much.
It did do its job however. My skin stayed clear, or mostly clear when I decided to eat foods that exacerbated my acne. I will not be using it again because of how it burned me. I ended up moisturizing more too late and could not use it again. Luckily there are other ways to clear the skin of acne and have good makeup:). On top of that--the shades are very limited so it works out in the end as I don't feel I have to have this.
I cannot say whether I would recommend this because I don't know what type of moisturizer to use and how much because I thought mine was enough so more would have to be used. Also, maybe use every other day or so. Hesitant to ever use again because of the development of the burn over time.

This foundation was amazing before I started having dryness issues with my skin. It literally separates on your face and makes your face look super crusty. If you have dry skin DO NOT USE THIS
Bella from Florida
I was looking for a foundation that wouldn't break my face out and this was perfect.
I would buy this product again
Angie from Happy valley, or
I use this product everyday, and it's the best for my face, it keeps my skin complexion clear.
Brooke from Idaho
I was recommended this a few years ago by a representative in store and have been using it since! If you can find the right shade it goes on super nicely with a brush or beauty blender and stays on well especially when paired with a good primer! I don't know how much it actually helps with my acne but it doesn't give me anymore breakouts.
Will totally buy again
Cece from Orlando
This product is not cakey at all but is buildable and has nice coverage. Gives an AMAZING glow to my skin even when it is looking dull. On top of it looking amazing it also doesn't clog my pores compared to literally every other foundation with my acne prone skin. Thumbs up from me!
Weird product and iffy shade range
Jade from Maryland
Eh. This foundation is weird, I don't know how else to explain it. It does help with my acne prone skin and has a nice finish, but it seems to almost collect in weird places on my face, especially my jawline. I'll check and have a patch of skin that's dirt brown, where I guess it's "collected". Never had a foundation do that, it's very odd. Also, I am not a very pale person, and my color is the lightest color. The shade range is pretty unacceptable.
Andrea from Minnesota
I bought this product for my acne prone skin. It is light weight with decent coverage. It does seem to help me have fewer breakouts so that is a plus! The only thing I don't like is that it doesn't seem like you get much of the product for the price you pay, and since the coverage is light you sort of need to use a lot at a time.
All time favorite foundation

I've struggled with acne for a while and covering it up isn't always the healthiest option but this foundation helps my acne while giving me great coverage. I don't feel bad wearing makeup finally:)
I forgot how good it was
AmyR from Michigan
I used to wear this foundation in high school and stopped for some reason. Recently I decided to try it since it's not as expensive as other brands I like and I can't remember why I ever quit using it. It's lightweight, allows your skin to breathe and be healthy, long lasting, and doesn't make it look like you plastered makeup on your face. I think I'll just stick with what works from now on.
Clears the skin
SarahJean from Clatskanie, OR
I use this after I moisturize and prime. The formula mixes well with all the products I use. Has helped with breakouts.

I've always strayed away from this foundation here and there just to try others, but I actually love this one and always come back to it. The price is great, the colors could be expanded a little more (I feel like I need to mix two for the perfect shade but due to budget reasons I just stick with the most natural one on my skin), the coverage is medium but buildable, leaves a natural beautiful finish. I suffer from hormonal acne and scarring and it covers a lot of it. I can't say that it's enough salicylic acid to actually make a difference in my acne but it definitely does not make it worse.
StacieTennessee from Tennessee
I had used Clinique Acne Solutions for years, but had a few coupons and decided to try other foundations, Elf, Loreal, Tarte, & Almay. And while I love different items fr each brand there is simply no better foundation for me than Clinique Acne Solutions. Helps make my skin healthy and glowy and has great coverage with out being thick or cake-y!!
best every day base
Wshort from Louisiana
I love this base it lasts and makes my skin look flawless my only thing is it doesn't set down so a powder is needed but it's only because I'm an oily mess who should really get a constant skin care routine
I wanted to love it
Ali from Alabama
I have very oily, acne prone skin and have tried dozens of foundations over the years. I bought this one because it was specifically listed for my skin type. I was very disappointed because it definitely doesn't leave the skin matte at all but makes my face feel oily and sticky by the end of the day. It creases and I end up with at least 1 new break out every time I wear this foundation.
Best Foundation I've ever used!! I'll only use this one from
Rapunzel from Mastic, NY
I use this product every single day
