Comments about Conair You Big Waves:

It takes some patience and getting used to, but now that I have I truly do love it. I don't use the glove that's included because I find it slides right off, so you do need to be careful. Also, my hair occasionally gets snagged, but only if I wrap it too close to the base. It was much more affordable than I expected it to be too which was a nice surprise. Overall, excellent product!

Probably would have worked better if the three-finger glove was a five finger glove. It is difficult to hold without burning yourself. Going to return it.

Comments about Conair You Big Waves:

The worst part was where the control buttons are, they are right where you hold it, so I found I kept cutting it off on accident. Other than that it was pretty decent, the little piece on the tip of the curler where you can set it down safely on a counter kept catching my hair and not letting it slide off easily.

Comments about Conair You Big Waves:

This is the first product I have used that gave my 12", fine straight hair a beautiful curl. The sizes gave me the soft medium size spiral curls I wanted. It left my hair soft and shiny, I didn't even need to hairspray the finished curls that last all day. I've purchased many other products which all gave to tight of a curl and usually dried my hair out. I'm happy I found this product.

Comments about Conair You Big Waves:

I purchased this to create the beach wave look. I have long, thick hair, and liked the fact that there were little silicone tabs on the iron, to help hold hair in place.
Unfortunately, even with the silicone, hair still slipped, to the point where no curl was achieved.

Yes, you can use the You Big Waves on thin, long hair. Try starting at a lower heat setting for thin hair to help prevent damage to the hair.

Does this work well for short hair if you want just a loose curl and not a tight curl?

The The tapered large barrel (1 3/4" to 1") on the You Big Waves conical wand is ideal for creating loose curls and waves. To get the loosest curl, wrap hair around the bottom of the conical wand where the barrel is the largest.

                • Q:

What type of curl will it make? I have hair down to my back, with a tiny bit of grown out layers, so it looks shorter if I bring my hair to the front. How long will it take to do my entire head? If I part my hair down the middle and curl my hair away from my face will it look like the style everyone is going for now a days?
Asked on 2/3/2015 by Lora from Maine, US

                  1 answer

                  • Brand Expert

                    A:

The Conair You Big Waves will create soft/loose waves, as it has a pretty large barrel size. The bonus attachment barrel will give your hair loose curls, since it is a bit smaller than the other barrel. Depending on the thickness of your hair, it should take about 15-20 minutes to do your whole head of hair. You can definitely curl your hair away from your face to create voluminous curls.

                • Q:

Will this work abroad in Europe with a plug adapter? The Conair website says everything will work abroad with just a plug adapter, but I've seen other reviews say it doesn't work on the same voltage. I love it and want to bring it with me!

                    A:

You do not need a voltage converter to use your curling iron abroad. However, you may need an adapter to make sure your curling iron plug fits in the foreign wall outlet. These adapters may be purchased at airports, luggage and travel stores. Many hotels are providing adapters to guests upon request (check with the concierge at your hotel).
