STEPS:

Our make-up artist creates a dramatic look that’s both Smokey and Sun-Kissed. It’s a summer take on a traditionally winter makeup with a softer eye and healthy glow. Here’s how to get it.

Step 1: She begins by priming Mona’s skin with Urban Decay’s Complexion Primer Potion applying pea-sized amounts of the light, cool gel. It goes on sheer and dries quickly.

Step 2: Stila’s Sheer Color is a multi-purpose foundation: a moisturizer, sunscreen and luminizer all in one - with a bit of tint. Massage it gently into the skin as you would a moisturizer.

Step 3: In case you have any eye circles or blemishes, go ahead and correct them with Lorac’s Double Feature Concealer and Highlighter.

Step 4: To get Mona’s gorgeous glow, use a large brush and sweep Benefit’s One Hot Minute powder liberally all over the face. It’s fool proof and delivers just the right amount of sheen.

Step 5: For that perfect sun-kissed skin, Lorac’s Hot and Spicy Blush Bronzer Duo features a bronzer and a shimmery peach blush. Our makeup artist first applies the bronzer to the areas of the face that the sun would naturally touch if you were to spend a day at the beach: the forehead, the nose and across the top of the cheeks. Then she dusts the peach blush on the apples of Mona’s cheeks for an extra pop of color.

Step 6: For Mona’s defined eyeline, she uses BOURJOIS felt tip liner in Black along the top of the eyelid, as close to the lashes as possible.

Step 7: She applies Benefit’s Bad Gal waterproof eyeliner pencil from the inner to the outer corner of the eye on both top and bottom. Finish with a very fine line just outside the bottom lashes and then blend it with your eyeliner brush.

Step 8: Okay, it’s time to focus on the new smokey eye. Start with Smashbox Twilight Eyeshadow Trio powder in white, silver and black. Our makeup artist softens the eyeliner with the black powder applied in a side-to-side and circular motion along the lash line. With a clean brush, go into the white powder, tap off the excess and make a fine line just underneath the eyebrow as a highlight. This will brighten and open the eye. With a larger brush, move onto the grey midtones.

Step 9: Use Smashbox Eye Lights in Smokebox and fill in the crease of the eyelid. You might have to play with the white and grey shades above and below the crease to make sure the color pops. Once you’re done, smooth out and blend under the eye with the pewter and the smoke to soften the line.

Step 10: Next, go right into the roots with Too Faced Lash Injection black mascara in a back and forward motion to the tip of the lash.

Step 11: A strong lip would be way too aggressive for a summery smokey eye. Our makeup artist suggests Bare Escentuals Buxom Lips in Amber- a peachy sheer gloss.

Step 12: To complete Mona’s look - fill in your eyebrows with Smashbox Brow Tech. Don’t tread too forcefully. Since the eye make-up is dramatic, it’s best to keep the eyebrows light.

A fresh mix of sultry and healthy - this will be your go to look for those hot summer nights.

Ulta: the store on everyone’s lips… and brows… and eyes… and face.
