STEPS:
This look is polished but playful with just a pop of color for a touch of pizzazz – an important trend turning up in the pages of fashion magazines this spring. The cosmetics are all cream-based so it's particularly easy to accomplish and maintain.
Step 1: To start, prime your face with Benefit's "That Gal" Brightening Face Primer. Blend it in an even, upward motion which will make the skin appear smoother and brighter.
Step 2: Use Benefit's You Rebel Lite tinted moisturizer for a slight boost of color. It's best to apply the moisturizer with your fingers and then massage it into the skin. It gives a sheer coverage to almost any skin tone and even has SPF protection.
Step 3: Because tinted moisturizers are so sheer, apply a concealer to cover any imperfections or darkness under the eyes. Benefit's Erase Paste brightens and camouflages at the same time. Be sure the concealer matches your actual skin color; it shouldn't be a shade lighter or darker.
Step 4: Since this look is created using creamy cosmetics, use Boscia's Fresh Blotting Linens to matte down shine and help avoid excess grease.
Step 5: For blush, try Stila's Convertible Color in Lillium, a rose crème. The sheer tint adds a touch of glow. Apply with your finger on the apple of your cheek and then blend out. Use a tapping motion so that the foundation doesn't move and the makeup stays in place. Continue applying from the middle in a circular motion and blend out until there's no line.
Step 6: Now it's time for your eyes. Our makeup artist uses Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil in Underground. This waterproof pencil delivers a long-lasting color that glides on without skipping or tugging. You'll want to draw a line just above and right into your eyelashes so there's no gap.
Step 7: For eyeshadow, use Too Faced's Lock Down Cream in three separate colors. First apply the darkest shade—a brown called Dramarama—along the lash line and blend it up and out into the crease. For the beige midtone use Bedroom Eyes applying it to the lid of the eye from the center in, meeting the darker tone that you've already made along the lashline and crease. Use the third color, a Pale Pink called Prisoner of Love, just under the eyebrow to meet the beige midtone.
Step 8: With cream makeup, it's important to use a waterproof mascara so it doesn't transfer onto the eyelid. To give the eyes that softer look, our makeup artist suggests L'Oreal's Voluminous waterproof mascara in brown. For the perfect application, put the wand at the root of the eyelash and use a side to side motion extending to the tips of the eyelash.
Step 9: For eye brows, use Benefit's Instant Brow Pencil. First comb through the eye brows with the swizzle brush and then fill in any spaces keeping a natural look to the shape. Match your brow not your hair color.
Step 10: Now that the eyes are complete, it's on to lips. Our makeup artist uses two products by Pur Minerals: a lip pencil in Pink Gypsum and a lipstick in Rose Garnet. Dab a little bit of the color from the lip brush onto the inside of the lip, blot together and then smudge out using your finger. That's important because you don't want any harsh or sharp edges. With the pencil, which is a shade lighter than the lipstick, draw a soft lip line around the outside edge of the lip to hold the lipstick in place and prevent it from bleeding.
This polished but playful look is great for spring. The pink lip pops with color without making the face look too overdone. The great thing about using cream makeup is you can re-apply without ruining the existing makeup that's already on your skin. It's easy to maintain all day long.
