Comments about Hot Tools Gold Curling Iron:

I have medium length thick curly hair. I typically either blow dry with a round brush then either curl or straighten. I have other hot tools irons which I love but this 1.5 inch isn't quite as nice. It heats well, holds a curl well and is easy to use but I do feel the hair drags through and snags. Not sure why. The flipper is very tight. Maybe that's why. I just go a little slower when styling with this iron. I absolutely love the look I get when done. I may try to switch up my styling products to see if my hair will glide through rather than snag.

This curling iron gets really hot but the rubber handle will not hold up. It gets sticky over time and the rubber will become sticky in your hand while holding it. I put mine in the trash when this happened. Will never buy a curling iron with a rubber handle ever again.

                        A:

The difference is the size of the barrel. The larger the barrel, the looser/larger the wave or curl that it creates.

For longer lengths, we recommend using a larger barrel such as the 1-1/4" or 1-1/2".

The Rainbow Gold Curling Iron is also plated in 24K gold, so it provides the same results as the original Gold Curling Iron! The only difference is the outer appearance of the barrel.

Either would work for you for loose curls! The 1-1/2" size produces slightly larger and looser curls than the 1-1/4".
