The color in the bottle is super opaque but it goes on very sheer. Takes at least 4 coats to get a decent color payoff

Comments about OPI Soft Shades Nail Lacquer Collection:

PLEASE NOTE: I am only writing my review based on my experience using the shades Bubble Bath, Sweet Heart, Pinking of You, Passion, and Hawaiian Orchid. I have no idea what the other colors are like! NONE OF THE THINGS I DISCUSS IN THIS REVIEW NECESSARILY RELATE TO OTHER OPI PRODUCTS.

I own Bubble Bath and have used Sweet Heart, Pinking of You, Passion, and Hawaiian Orchid. I love ALL of these. While the difference in color might be subtle to a casual user/someone who isn't into makeup, I feel that they are different enough in color and finish (i.e. sparkle, pearlescence, etc.) to make using different colors worth it, at least for a serious nail junkie like me. Luckily for me, all of these colors are stocked by my salon so I have the opportunity to try the ones listed above.

I work in a slightly to moderately conservative store (a pharmacy catering largely to elderly people) and I highly recommend all of these colors as a great way to polish up your overall look without being too "wacky" or "out-there."

The application is great, consistently non-streaky. However, on several of these, opacity is either an issue (i.e. 3-4 coats) or unachievable. I'm not hugely bothered by it, since these (the colors listed above) are pale pinks. However, if you're looking for an opaque pale pink, I suggest perhaps using a white base under these, or using several coats. Again, this isn't the case for ALL of them, mainly for Bubble Bath, which is VERY sheer. I remember Passion to be semi-opaque at 2 coats and I'm sure I could get a decent opacity at 4. On that note, I have found pale pink polishes from other brands or other OPI lines that are fully opaque within 2 or three coats. It all depends on the look that you are going for!

I haven't found any of these polishes to be either gluey or runny. I found them to be a nice creamy texture, exactly what I wanted. They do tend towards being slightly thin, but again, because of the pale color and the conservative look I'm trying to achieve I'm not super bummed out.

Finally, they don't dry up or get gummy over time like some cheaper (and unfortunately sometimes expensive) brands do. I live in a climate with bitterly dry cold winters and humid hot summers, and as long as you keep them out of the sun and in a reasonably climate controlled atmosphere, they shouldn't develop problems. I've had my current bottle of Bubble Bath for well over 6 months and it's survived blizzards and heat waves.

Overall, these colors live up to my expectations from OPI: classy and unique colors, great formulation, and graceful aging.

Comments about OPI Soft Shades Nail Lacquer Collection:

OPI Bubble Bath nail lacquer is my go-to polish for using on my hands during the work week. It gives my hands a very clean and professional look. A plus: as it begins to chip after a few days, if I don't have time to fix the chip right away, it still looks good: like a French manicure as the top whites of my nails begin to show through. I pair with OPI basecoat, topcoat, OPI drying drops, and Nails Inc. topcoat (which protects against sheet marks). I reapply the Nails Inc. topcoat every other day, and fix chips on the OPI polish as needed. If I fix chips and reapply topcoat regularly, I can go two weeks before redoing my nails.

Comments about OPI Soft Shades Nail Lacquer Collection:

Mimosas did not come to mind when I saw this OPI polish at Ulta over the weekend but then again when do OPI polish names ever make sense? At any rate, I was in the mood for a light pink / nude color to give my nails a fresh look, and opted for "Mimosas For Mr. & Mrs". So happy that I did because the finished look was just what I was going for.

Finding the right nude color can be a challenge but I think this shade would compliment all skin tones. My only gripe would be the coverage. I had to use FOUR coats to get a more opaque finish.
