I have used Preference in ...

      By Rayncatt

Comments about les Blondissimes Permanent Hair Color:

I have used Preference in almost every shade since the early 90's. My natural color actually was very pretty and I don't know why I ever messed with it (a chestnut brown with gold and red highlight's going to a golden auburn that would get naturally brindled given the time of year lightening and darkening in my teens and early 20's and when I was a little girl it was a golden honey blonde not quiet strawberry but it did have hints of red highlight even when I was 2-5 yrs). Anyways I did mess with it... in the early 2000's I started getting premature silver and white. I don't say gray because gray doesn't look like silver shining strands and that is what mine was and is now pure white in many 'spots'. My grandmother was pure white by the time she was 25 years old so this really is no surprise i suppose... Anyways I decide to bleach out the silver/white areas to white and go black on rest (think white bands/fringe) then using temp. purple-teal in the white, Very rocker cool! I should mentioned in the early 2000's I stopped using most of the box color and started educating and experimenting with L'Oreal preference from a local beauty shop, including bleach packets etc. So, the black and white (w/violet streaks) stayed from about 2003 till just last year 2013. More of my hair had gone white but not all over and I had this odd silver ring spanning my head and with the black the contrast was just too much to keep up with without aging myself so I lightly bleached out strands and proceeded with dark brown for almost a year hoping that would work...the color was great especially since the reds really come out and it lightens w/gold when in sun but the silver/white was too pronounced and also had a blonde hue to it again. Plus brown does not hold on 'gray', white or silver well...black does though heh. So given all this I decided to go back to my roots for a golden blonde but not wanting the red hues. I ended up having to do a double bleach due to length of hair (very long) and a lot of black that was still in it. Can anyone say damage??? omg...so the first color I did use from a box for this was too blonde and wasn't right then I found this color the 9.5 lightest ash blonde. It worked awesome and you can hardly see any delineation from my roots where white/silver!!! It is SO natural and now that I have cut it and use super hydrating products on it well, i am very happy! I just wish I can find this color everywhere but it seems to be a difficult shade to find however rechecking my beauty supply store they do have it so yay! No more trial and error, this is perfect!!!

Comments about les Blondissimes Permanent Hair Color:

I love this shade! I've used it for 5+ years with the exception of the past 2 years, in which I decided I needed a change and went redhead. My natural color is very close to this shade on the box. A dark chocolate brown with a red tint to it in the sunlight. I started going grey in high school so this became my go-to shade. It covers grey wonderfully and without the very noticeable lighter hue on the roots or grey that some at home colors can do. It seems to start out very dark, though. To some, this can be discouraging or alarming. However, it is not a bad darker, it is actually a pretty darker. And you have to take in to account that lighting sometimes doesn't show what others see. And, after a wash or two, it lightens up nicely. I am switching back to this color next week. But I highly recommend it to those with fair skin that went grey sooner than they would have liked and want a pretty chocolate brown shade. I always get tons of compliments on my hair with this shade. Even after I first do it and it seems to be really dark!

Comments about les Blondissimes Permanent Hair Color:

I usually use superior preference light brown to do my roots on my highlighted hair, but I had medium brown in my closet so decided to use it. However was too dark. Went to cvs and saw the hi-lift ash brown. Thought it would make the brown color lighter and IT DID! I was so happy. I didn't look I was wearing a brown hat on my head! L'oreal has the best products for coloring. Ask your hair colorist. If they are knowledgeable , they will know. Im from nyc and most will say not to do it at home because they lose a lot of but it is safe, easy, and l oreal's products yield great results. You won't go wrong using their products. However sometimes finding the right shade and tone can be some trial and error. Have fun!

Comments about les Blondissimes Permanent Hair Color:

I rarely write reviews, but it just occurred to me that I should give credit where credit is due. I've been using this color quite a while and people never cease to tell me how much they like it. People I don't even know tell me how much they like the color and ask me if it's natural. And I'm almost 60 years old! I don't try to pretend it's natural - my natural color was never this nice. My hair is mostly white now. By the way, I apply the color myself and my hair is quite long.

Comments about les Blondissimes Permanent Hair Color:

This color is too dark and does not match the colors on the box. It is more of a dark brown than golden brown, and even has a little mahogany red in it. It wasn't what I was hoping for. I usually use medium golden brown, but it was a little too gold, so I thought this might be a shade darker, like in the picture, but this is terrible. The only reason I gave it 3 stars is because it did cover my gray hair and did give my hair a shine.

Comments about les Blondissimes Permanent Hair Color:

This is my go-to hair color. I went prematurely grey by the time I hit 30. My original hair color was a warm medium brown with lots of natural red and gold highlights, esp in summer. I've been dying my hair since my late 30s. I have been every shade of auburn, red and red-blonde. Tried every brand out there. Too many reds look like clown hair, or are way too dark or too blue or purple. This color never fails to disappoint. I did love Feria Amber Tortoise but that was discontinued. I love Feria even more than Preference, but there hasn't been a color I've liked in awhile. I wish there were a wider range of golden or orange-y reds on the medium to lighter side of the spectrum to choose from, sometimes a change is nice. But until then, Lightest Auburn is the color I'll stick with. It looks so natural, I get compliments all the time and no one suspects that I color my hair.
