Not good for curly hair, or long hair. Does NOT straighten hair. Leaves it frizzy, with a wave in it. Takes way to much time to dry hair.

Comments about John Frieda Salon Shape Hot Air brush:

I never review products because we all read the reviews, then have different results from everyone else, or get scared away by the random review that had a bad result. My experiences is often different from others, so I find that just testing the product out works best for me. However, this product deserved the most shining, spectacular review I could manage because it has literally changed my life.

I have outrageously curly, thick hair. It takes me more than 30 minutes to completely dry my hair with a hair dryer and then, if I want to straighten it, another 20-30 minutes for that with a professional straightener. What I find is that my hair ends up extremely worn and honestly, not that attractive after all that effort, so I often pull my hair back or wear it curly to avoid the blow dryer. Recently, my blow dryer that costs about 4 times as much as this product gave out in a pretty dramatic fashion in my hand. I had it for about 3 years, but I didn't use it all that often because I don't have ton of time and I'm kind of useless with a round brush.

This tool completely changed that. In a matter of twenty minutes, my hair is dry and looks like I have been to the salon for a blowout. My hair is so soft and shiny and has NO fly aways, which is a big deal for a curly haired girl. It doesn't spin like some other similar tools, but honestly I see that as a bonus. I would constantly rip hair out if I had a spinning brush. My hair is simply too thick. I just brush through my hair as if I'm using a round brush and it straightens and dries my hair while adding a little bit of movement and volume. You can manipulate the tool to add more or less of those things depending on what you personally prefer.

I love that all of the settings are actually useful. The low setting is enough air to actually do something and the high setting gets the job done quickly. The cool setting is fantastic - I use it to finish so that my hair cools off before I take off for the day. Normally, if I have straightened my hair then use a curling iron or rollers to get big waves, they fall out within hours. My hair maintains volume and movement all day when I use this tool.

I also have relatives around the world and travel relatively often. This tool is light enough and convenient enough to replace my blow dryer when we go, so I will not be lugging that on trips anymore.

I cannot speak highly enough of this product. At 35-40$, you really don't have anything to lose. I was skeptical, but I gained an amazing tool that I will ALWAYS keep in my very minimal collection. I would pay significantly more to purchase this again.

This brush works great to smooth and slightly curl my long, straight hair. However, the end cap is very hot to touch during use which makes it more difficult to hold.

I love this dryer/volumizer! I have fine, thin hair and only one arm, so fixing my hair has been difficult. This device is easy for me to use one-handed and gives great volume and shine to my thin, limp hair. I love it so much I am buying a second one for travel!
I recommend this for anyone, but for someone with limited physical ability, it is a must have!

Comments about John Frieda Salon Shape Hot Air brush:

I have baby fine and very thin hair. If you do too, read on!

I wish I would have had this product ten years ago. Up until now, having baby fine hair, and very thin hair is difficult. It is lifeless, limp, and so very flat. My hair refuses to hold a curl, even with heat rollers. Any volume I manage to achieve goes flat in minutes, even when I back-comb.

I bought this after watching a few reviews on youtube (def check this out, there is some REALLY great tips, worth your time) The first time I used it, my hair was amazing! Voluminous, soft, shiny, smooth, and the ends were all perfectly curled under. I got a TON of compliments, and was asked about my new haircut by a dozen people!

I was initially worried that might get too hot, and scorch my hair or scalp, but it doesn't.

It doesn't create loose curls for me, just tons of volume and shine.
The volume, shape, and curl lasts well into the next day.

                    How I use it:
After washing, I let my hair air dry until it's about 90% dry. IF you have fine/thin hair like me, you know that this doesn't take long. I do my makeup while my hair dries, and on a full face day, I usually don't get finished before my hair is dry enough.
First, I spray the Tresemme heat protectant all over my hair. (available at Ulta too) Then I use a thickening cream (the marc anthony one from ulta too) I comb the product through, and use some alligator clips to section off pieces.
On days where I want a little extra volume boost I use the Tigi Catwalk Your Highness Root Boost Spray. (although I find this is a bit stickier)

The whole process takes me about 15 minutes total, and that's if I really play around with it. If you have thick hair, this is probably going to add a LOT of time. But I don't have much hair, so this is almost quick enough for every day use.

The ions make it shiny and controls frizz (I used with product It's a 10!)
Even though I blow dry my hair upside down with a blow dryer, I still wish this tool had more power to create more volume at the crown of my head. This tool is a time-saver, but you'd still get better results suffering arm fatigue with a blow dryer and round brush.
