Comments about Garnier Olia Oil-Powered Permanent Color:

I used the color Dark Intense Auburn.

When Garnier first came out with this product I was super excited to try it. Their other dyes don't smell great, but they have always been good to my hair. Oil powered? Not harsh? Sign me up!

Well, it didn't end well. The applicator is pretty, but the shape is not easy to hold while wearing gloves. I had to strip down for fear of ruining my clothes from dropping the applicator and there may or may not be a couple small, permanent stains on the sink.

The color applies evenly, but during the rinsing process I noticed that my hair didn't feel right. It felt stringy and fragile. It still felt the same way after drying, and it was difficult to get a brush through it because it had completely altered the texture of my hair. Luckily that effect didn't last long. It had nice shine, but it wasn't nearly as dark as advertised and it faded quickly and turned a pretty gross orangy color after about two weeks.

I'm back to Nutrisse again. Specifically Nutrisse Ultra-Color in Deepest Intense Burgundy.

Comments about Garnier Olia Oil-Powered Permanent Color:

I have dark blonde hair and wanted to go burgundy. I had good luck with Feria's "Chocolate Cherry" color but it faded to brown after just a little bit. The Garnier Olia Garnet Red looked closer to what I wanted. Indeed, the red is much more vibrant, but unfortunately I ran out of color after only getting the top of my head done. My hair is thick but only chin length. I tried to get color through the rest of my hair but in the end I had to go back to the store to get a second box. Not sure if I will use this again, I'll have to see how it lasts. I don't want to have to pay for two boxes every time I color.

Comments about Garnier Olia Oil-Powered Permanent Color:

I've used Garnier Nutrisse hair color with Avocado oil many times and now decided to try this line. Very disappointed. This product does not last, made my hair dry in freezy, so-so gray coverage and keeps bleeding and messing up my towels even after several shampooings. I will have to color my hair in 2 weeks again which is not good. Will never buy it again.

Comments about Garnier Olia Oil-Powered Permanent Color:

I never write reviews. But I was so surprised by the other reviews that I wanted to add my comments. I thought Olia covered my grey so much better than other products that I used or even when I had it done professionally. Also, I felt that it lasted so much longer. Previously, right after coloring I would still see some greys. Also, other permanent colors would still seem to wear off in badly grey areas. Neither of these problems happened. It covered so much better and lasted so much longer. I am about to use it today for the 2nd time. I hope I have the same results. The one problem was it is messier and does stain counter tops more. I need to be more careful with my application.

Comments about Garnier Olia Oil-Powered Permanent Color:

I color to cover grays and in the bargain get a vibrant healthy-looking color overall. I bought the Medium Golden Brown shade #5.3 from a local drugstore. I used the product as directed on the box. I so wanted this product to work!!

First the pros: 1. easy to use otherwise despite the egg-shaped applicator bottle - yes, I agree with other reviewers here regarding the shape making it difficult to hold and apply the mixture, 2. has 60% oil blend, 3. smells good and not at all harsh like other chemical dyes, and 4. does not sting eyes or scalp

Now the cons: 1. The 60% oil blend means it covered my shower floor with oil and made it slippery. 2. The deal breaker: It did not cover grays at all. 3. My hair is healthy - I do not use heat, harsh hair products other than shampoo and conditioner and hair color. Despite the oils and using the conditioner tube provided with the package, my hair ended up brassy.

I will be searching for another brand pretty soon. Disappointed that this option did not work out for me. :(

Comments about Garnier Olia Oil-Powered Permanent Color:

I wish, I'd read these reviews before I bought it! Hair is nice and soft, but grey ones are still there! As one of the reviews says, it looks like they just coming out, but it's still there! And the bottle IS not very easy to hold. Wanted to try something new, but, I think, will stick to what I ususally use.

The shape of the bottle does not allow you to hold on! I had to put something around it to keep it from being too slippery. Even then, I kept throwing it around the bathroom, then the product would fly out, and geez, what a mess. I will not use this again, just for that reason. besides, they make you mix the color and developer yourself, and I feel you can't get it all out of the tubes, plus it's hard and messy to do.

Poor coverage for grey hair. Grey hair was showing when I rinsed dye out of hair, but BUT one good thin is with the few grey hair's peering out, it looked as though I was just turning grey. Only lasted 2 1/2 weeks then the dye was completely out.

Comments about Garnier Olia Oil-Powered Permanent Color:

I wanted to try this product since I had a great coupon. I have had good results with L'Oreal. After noticing the comments about the hard-to-hold applicator bottle, masking tape around the bottle worked fine. The color was OK, kind of average. The mix smells tropical good. I used dark blond for root touchup and adding some color to rest of long hair. It was a bit harder to rinse out, but the texture of my hair was great afterwards. Unfortunately, the color did not 'adhere' to my gray growth very well.
