Bought it on a whim since it has spf. Not totally unsatisfied but would not invest in it again since I have to wear this and my go to primer to get the coverage I want. You're better off going with their original primer and making sure you're foundation or moisturizer has spf.

Comments about Smashbox Photo Finish Foundation Primer SPF 20 w/Dermaxyl Complex:

Since I do not wear foundation (primer only) I was so excited to obtain a primer with SPF in it at first. When I read the mixed (but mainly positive reviews), I hoped against hope that this product would live up to its reputation. when I removed the seal from the tip, some clear liquid shot onto my vanity mirror and all over the counter. I closed the bottle and shook it, but the consistency was the same when I reopened the bottle. Upon application, the product was greasy, runny, and made my pores/facial imperfections stand out more than ever. Only seconds after applying it, I was so horrified by the results that I washed my face immediately. I will be exchanging this product for my favorite primer and just wear sunscreen underneath that. Please save your money and avoid this messy product!

I use a tinted moisturizer before I leave the house (so, after I've moisturized). I like to use a primer first, but I'm not sure if it works before a tinted moisturizer?

This product is a primer. It can be used underneath your concealer and foundation, which would provide coverage. It does not have a tint worn alone.
