Comments about Strivectin Advanced Retinol Night Treatment:

I hate the price but love the results. I have dry acne prone skin and this is one of my holy grail products that I have to have. Try the sample size. My skin looks so good when I use this I had to buy the full size and will continue even though it hurts my wallet.

This product is AMAZING! I received it in a sample pack and WOW! I wake up and my dark complexion skin is bright and looks so healthy. I almost don't want to wash my face in the morning because it looks great. After 2 consecutive uses i was receiving complements about my skin. I only use a light powder on my face now. No need for a full foundation routine. The only thing i hate is the price.

Comments about Strivectin Advanced Retinol Night Treatment:

I've suffered with skin sensitivity and dryness my entire life. I have severe keratosis pilaris, which covers most of my body. Product after product, nothing helps clear my skin and reduce the redness/dryness like this has, without harming my sensitive skin. This did everything it said it would - overnight. I put it in the worst part of my skin (my arms) after I got out of the shower and then went to bed. When I woke up in the morning my skin was fully hydrated, the redness was almost completely gone and my KP dimished trifold. I didn't have any adverse reaction to the retinol, although I know some may (then again I only got 1-2 uses from the sample). I almost wish you could get this with a prescription, then at least I may be able to afford it. But at $100+ a bottle, this is a luxury I cannot afford full size.

Comments about Strivectin Advanced Retinol Night Treatment:

I got a sample size of this product with a large ULTA purchase and at first I wanted to ignore it. I started using it at night daily and I've noticed an obvious difference. It's been a week. My wrinkles on the forehead appear to be smoothing out and my post-acne marks and slight lines around the nose are fading away. I plan to purchase a full size of this product when I finish the sample.

            • Q:

Does this product firm the skin? I have dry skin..... and I have wrinkles when I smile on my cheeks.... I need something that will plump and lift!
Asked on 6/23/2015 by Steph from Monroe, Louisiana

              1 answer

              • Brand Expert

                A:

Yes, it improves firmness and elasticity by stimulating collagen production in the skin to strengthen skin's dermal cushion. It also addresses wrinkles as well.

            • Q:

An earlier post mentioned that this product contains a fragrance. Usually fragrances in products are NOT a good thing depending on the ingredient that's providing the scent. Fragrances can be irritating to the skin. Is the fragrance derived from a source that is non-irritating to the skin?
Asked on 6/4/2015 by Product Awareness Buff from Rocklin, CA

              1 answer

              • Brand Expert

                A:

Yes. Synthetic fragrances can be less irritating to skin than natural ingredient as they are formulated specifically with topical application in mind. In addition, all of our products are tested for skin irritation and tolerability.

              1 answer

              • Brand Expert

                A:

For around the eyes, we recommend an eye specific product so that it does not creep, is ophthalmologist-tested as well as contains ingredients specific for the eyes to target dark circles, wrinkles, etc. We have an Advanced Retinol Eye Treatment that would be ideal for use around the eyes. While you can use AR Night Treatment on the neck, we also offer TL Advanced Tightening Neck Cream.

              1 answer

              • Brand Expert

                A:

Yes. While hydrating and nourishing to skin, it still maintains its lightweight texture and dries down to a satin finish. You might also consider the Advanced Retinol Concentrated Serum that you can apply in the AM and PM and then layer the Advanced Retinol Night Treatment in the evening only so that your skin is receiving Retinol plus our patented NIA-114 molecule twice daily.

What is the percentile of retinol contained in this product?
Asked on 3/14/2015 by Leela Q from Brooklyn, NY

              1 answer

              • Staff Expert

                A:

This product contains less than 1% retinol, which is the highest concentration allowed in cosmeceutical products. StriVectin uses the highest percentage that they are able to as a cosmeceutical but the key differentiating factor for the Advanced Retinol Night Treatment is the combination of NIA-114 with Retinol. NIA-114 drives 12x faster conversion to retinoic acid so that your skin can absorb and use more of the retinol in the formula. Plus, the barrier building benefits of NIA-114 reduce the irrating side effects common to Retinol by maintaining skin barrier integrity and mitigating those effects.

            • Q:

I am using another product, which is a night serum containing the same amount of Retinol. I would love to try the StriVectin Advanced Retinol Night Treatment. If I layered both prodcuts, would this amount to my using a total of 2% Retinol?
Asked on 1/30/2015 by face cream addict from London, UK

              1 answer

              • Brand Expert

                A:

You can layer the two but it won't necessarily equate to 2% as your skin will absorb only what it can and what it needs. The NIA-114 in the Advanced Retinol Night Treatment drives faster conversion of retinol to retinoic acid so that your skin can use more the retinol in the formula with fewer side effects due the barrier building effects of NIA-114.

It isn't over the top but you could also use our SD Advanced Intensive Concentrate for Wrinkles if wrinkles are your only concern.

I bought this and have been using it nightly, but my acne has gotten worse in certain areas (forehead / side of face next to eyes). I was using the Murad Acne/Wrinkle reducer cream prior to this.

Would I want to use some type of Acne cream before or after using this Retinol night cream? Any suggestions on a good Acne cream? Would I also want to use a toner prior to applying the Retinol?

I am male. (not sure if this makes any difference)

              • Brand Expert

                A:

The cream might be too oily for you. We also have the Advanced Retinol Concentrated Serum that doesn't moisturize or deliver oils, which will help with the acne. Retinol can help with acne as can our patented NIA-114 molecule so the technology is right, perhaps just not the actual product.

This is my first time using a Retinol product (I'm 34 with pretty normal skin but some fine lines forming). Do I use a moisturizer on top of this at night? If so, do I make sure it is a very basic moisturizer so it doesn't interfere with the retinol?

              • Staff Expert

                A:

StriVectin Advanced Retinol Night Treatment has moisturizing benefits, so you may not require use of an additional moisturizer. If you use an additional moisturizer, yes, apply over top for best efficacy, and choose a moisturizer that is non-exfoliating (no AHAs/BHAs) and non-retinol to avoid irritation.

              1 answer

              • Staff Expert

                A:

The shelf life is 3 years for all StriVectin products except the Advanced Retinol Day Treatment SPF 30, Clinical Corrector Collection Anti-Aging Face Tint SPF 30, and Lip Tint SPF 20; for those products, it is 2 years. The Period After Opening (PAO) is even more important, though, as it notes how long the product will last after it is opened. This varies by product but can be found directly on the tube in a can icon with 12M – 24M indicated within.
