Comments about Urban Decay Cosmetics Naked Basics:

I really like a couple of the shades in this palette, and I really dislike a few as well. This is a great starter to the Urban Decay shadow line. I found out that I love the line, and it helped me see which palettes I would probably prefer going forward.

Soft, easy to blend colors. Great for every day looks and for special occasions. It's quite versatile. I love the naked palettes, but they're a bit too shimmery for my tastes. This is a great starter palette for a beginner, if you are willing to pay for the price.

Comments about Urban Decay Cosmetics Naked Basics:

I have wrestled with whether or not to buy this pallet for a while. It is a little out of my comfort price range buuuut under the recommendation of a friend I can honestly say that it was worth the money for me. The shadows are so silky and easy to blend and I love that they are all neutral matte (except the Venus shade). The only thing that I would complain about is that the lighter colors don't show up very well on me even with a primer. This could be because I am so fair because the darker shades show up fine. All in all I would definitely recommend this pallet!

Goes on very evenly with a good brush ad covers very nicely. The ccolors in the tray are true to what they look like when they are on...and they last. Nice product.

I needed to move away from shimmers and frosty eyeshadow due to dryskin, hooded eyes, and aging. After some research I decided on this pallet. It did not disappoint. It blends well and versatile. I like a natural look and this did it. Great colors for blue eyes and red hair.

Comments about Urban Decay Cosmetics Naked Basics:

What took me so long to try a Naked Palette? OMG This little palette packs a punch w/ almost no effort. You CAN'T make a mistake. Shadows apply beautifully & stay beautiful w/o flaking, wandering, disappearing, creasing, or looking crepey. Applied too little, add. Applied too much, blend. Daytime, just enough. Nighttime, add some of the richer shades to what you're already wearing. A little goes a long way. So start light & build to your desired look. I own Urban Decay, Mac, Estee Lauder, Shiseido, Lorac, Lancome, etc. I'm very fair & usually need some pink or peach/pink tone on my lid so I really didn't give the Naked palettes a 2nd look. Then, Estee Lauder decided to discontinue my basics & the search began. I was really just looking for a taupe/brown/greyish shade for my outer corner & crease. I usually stay away from palettes because there are always colors that won't get used. Well, I will use every single color in this palette. I also love the portability. I always buy my eyeshadow in singles because that ensures that I'm paying only for colors that I will use. That said, I'm not about to put several in my purse. I carry enough w/o needing a makeup case. This palette is small enough to put in the zippered pocket of my purse w/o adding bulk. I rarely write reviews. But, being over 50, I know how hard it can be to find makeup that works for me. I find that I rely on what other women have felt worth saying about a product whether positive or negative. One last thing, this palette is perfect for females of all ages. While it's fantastic for someone in my age group, it would be just as fantastic for a mom to buy it as her daughter's first eyeshadow.

I have very fair skin (burns easily), green eyes, and light brown hair that is quickly turning white, but which I have not colored as it is a very white white (I am waiting for it all to come in so I can add violet streaks!).

Would you recommend the Naked Basics kit or the Naked 2 Basics? I am not sure what the best set would be.

                  Thank you!

The shades in Naked2 Basics are slightly cooler toned (taupe-hued) than those in the original Naked Basics palette. All shades in both palettes are matte and neutral, so they work perfectly for all complexions! We suggest testing both palettes at your nearest ULTA store:

Smooth a medium shade like Foxy, W.O.S., or Naked 2 onto your eyelid from the lash line up to eye crease. Blend a darker shade like Faint or Crave (more dramatic) into the crease. Use light shade Venus to highlight the brow bone and the inner corners of the eyes.

                • Q:

Which type of eye shadow would be best for women in their 40s and 50s? Would powders or cream shadows be more flattering? Also, matte or shimmer? I love the Naked Basics colors, but don't want to look washed out. Is there a tutorial on how to apply? I want to look naked/polished, just not too made up - - - naked face look but better please! Thanks for your help!

p.s. I have good skin and minimal facial lines, but don't want to accentuate any sign of aging. ;)

                    A:

We recommend applying Urban Decay Anti-Aging Eyeshadow Primer Potion (Item #: 2260927) prior to eye shadow to minimize the appearance of wrinkles in 8 weeks while providing a silky smooth feel and extending the wear and vibrancy of your eye shadow to 24 hours! Primer Potion can be used with powder or cream formula shadows for crease-free wear. We would recommend matte and subtle shimmer shades.

The shades in this palette are so neutral, blendable, and universally flattering that you really can't go wrong with application! If you visit your nearest ULTA store, we would be happy to give you some application tips in person, if you prefer!
