Both my daughter and I loved this. The elastic band did not pull or rip out hair, it stayed in place, only slightly sliding back. The gems should have soething to hold a little as well to avoid all slipping. I also wish it was slightly longer, I have a large head and hate when bands pull the hair up high in the back. This did not pull high but after 3 hours I started to get a headache.
