I can't believe the results I have had with this shampoo. I'm 25 and almost my entire adult life I've had buildup on my scalp and lots of flakes. My scalp wasn't necessarily itchy, but if I ever touched it or scratched it, a ton of white flakes would come off--making my hair get oiler faster and even when I would come out of the shower with freshly washed hair, if I scratched my scalp or brushed it with a brush that came too close to my scalp, there would be the inevitable white flake stragglers that came out. After about 2 weeks of using this shampoo and following the instructions (leaving it on my scalp for about 5 minutes), it's like my scalp is brand new. My hair and scalp feel cleaner, and miraculously, the flakes are almost entirely gone! I cannot recommend this shampoo enough. I don't now anything about the side effects, so I'm hoping there aren't any bad ones. I haven't experienced any.

I use this shampoo every other day to help with my very oily, flat, straight hair. When I use it, I lather the shampoo a bit in my hands before applying it to my scalp. I massage it gently until it lathers (very minimal lather). Then I let it sit in my hair for a few minutes (recommended in the directions). I've only been using it for a week, so I don't know exactly how effective it is for volume. I love the smell - it's like a burst of peppermint that wakes me up in the morning. I knew this shampoo didn't lather like other shampoos, so I expected that. I still wonder if I'm using it correctly, but I do like it. I only apply this to my scalp because my ends are very dry. After rinsing, my scalp definitely feels clean. Almost a little TOO clean - maybe stripped. But once my hair is dry, it feels normal, so I'm not worried.

Cleaned without stipping hair. Better than most clarifying shampoos. I've never used an Alterna product that I didn't like. Still prefer the Blonde Caviar shampoo for everyday use.

For years, I had been using head and shoulders to alleviate a dry, itchy scalp, with major flaking. I researched many brands, and many alternatives to the brands that used sulfates, etc. I came to the conclusion that Alterna had the ingredients and products that would best fit my needs. I opted to purchase this shampoo and Alterna Caviar moisturizing conditioner. I was hesitant due to the price, but after using it, it is no surprise that this shampoo is out of stock at this time. I would pay twice as much for the results that I've had. While I still have minimal flaking, it is nothing compared to what I was experiencing prior to using this system. I have no itching, and have virtually lost no hair compared to the loss I had using Head and Shoulders. I have since been able to air dry my hair as the frizziness has virtually disappeared. This has been a miracle worker for me. I am not one to leave reviews, but this warrants one. Give this brand a chance. Love your hair again!!

I have been in search of a great shampoo for use after my keratin treatments that would not over do my hair by adding more elements and protiens that would cause my hair to break off, fall out or dry it out. With keratin treatments you have to be very careful what you use, so you do not over do the good that you are trying to do with the treatment. I was ISO sulfate, sodium & alcohol free products that had some nourishing nutrients in it as well. This was it! I searched for weeks in stores and on line and this was better than all of the rest in its ingredient content. My hair-stylist agrees with me that Alterna products are superior and cannot understand why the owner does not shelf it?!

I have really fine, thin hair and the product gives my hair so much volume! I absolutely love it. I also have dry damaged, hair from years of straightening and this product actually helps to repair the damage.

I'm 43 & have thinning hair do to coloring over my grey often. I started seeing more hair down the drain & even after using conditioner upon my hair drying (I always air dry my hair) my scalp was itchy & had many flakes. I've tried all the mediciny shampoos & talcs, they worked at first but the scalp itch & the flaking just came back. Upon reading a review about this shampoo from a gentleman that used it for his thinning hair, I decided to try it. Boy was I glad, the itching is gone & the flakes are so minimal (I don't shampoo my hair every day since I want to try & keep my red color). The smell is still a bit mediciny but light enough that it really doesn't matter, compared to what I was using before it doesn't really bother me. Don't have to use much & it lathers good as long as you use enough water as you shampoo. I have seen such a great improvement that I'll use this in between my Caviar Moisture Shampoo/Conditioner thereapy to maintain the scalp control & the minimal hair loss. I may decide to try the whole system one day but it is a bit pricey. But for now all I could afford & all I needed was this shampoo to help what ailed my itchy, dry, thinning scalp.

I use this product every other shampoo to detox my fine thin hair from all the hairspray and styling mousse I use daily. The shampoo really does leave your hair feeling clean and fuller. I use the Alterna Volumizing Conditioner with it for added volume.
