    By amber

Comments about The Body Shop Vitamin E Hydrating Toner:

I never had acne of skin discoloration until after I had my son. This is the first product that seems to be helping me with both. It doesn't dry my skin out or leave it oily

i love this! especially during the winter dryness season, when most toners strip my skin. AND it doesn't make my skin oily. I can't wait to test this product during summer months!

Comments about The Body Shop Vitamin E Hydrating Toner:

I think this helped moisturize my skin, but it had an oily feel when I put it on. I also don't think it helped to calm my skin any and made it a bit shiny. I'd recommend if your skin is super dry or you live in an area that consistently zaps your skin of moisture.

Comments about The Body Shop Vitamin E Hydrating Toner:

I rarely use toner because it dries out my skin too much, so I thought this one would be a good option since it's supposed to be hydrating. It is pretty decent toner and it doesn't cause my skin to get drier, but it also doesn't really seem like it deep cleans or does anything special for my skin. For the price, I wouldn't buy it again.

        • Q:

I see a lot of fragrant type ingredients like Limonene, Eugenol, Farnesol & others... but then one of the ingredients is listed as just "fragrance". Is the "fragrance" in this product synthetic or natural? Thank you!!!
Asked on 5/16/2015 by ErinLynn from West Palm Beach, Florida

          1 answer

          • Staff Expert

            A:

Within The Body Shop's product formulas, the general term "fragrance" applies to trace amounts of a natural and/or synthetic material formulated by a perfumer to create a desired smell or fragrance. When The Body Shop uses only the word "fragrance" as an ingredient, it could be both natural and synthetic in a mixture.

We hope this info helps. The Vitamin E Hydrating Toner is formulated for all skin types, even sensitive skin. It is formulated without harsh ingredients such as sulfates, phthalates, and triclosan. It is also free of GMOs and animal byproducts. The Body Shop supports Community Fair Trade ingredients.

            A:

We recommend this toner for combination/dry skin types, since it is hydrating. It is also formulated with antioxidant vitamin E to protect skin against the free radical damage that can contribute to uneven skin tone and irritation.

        • Q:

The front of the bottle says this toner is "Alcohol-Free", yet "Benzyl Alcohol" is listed as an ingredient. Please advise!
Asked on 5/7/2014 by Christie from San Diego, CA

          1 answer

          • Staff Expert

            A:

            From The Body Shop:

"When we claim that a product is “Alcohol-free” we mean “Ethanol-free”. “Alcohol” is the common name for Ethanol which is the intoxicating alcohol found in alcoholic drinks that some religious groups and consumers wish to avoid. Ethanol can be considered to have a drying effect on the skin and some people find it irritating.

In scientific terms there are many chemicals that are classified as “alcohols”, including Benzyl Alcohol and Lanolin Alcohol. They are chemically extremely different from ethanol; they are not intoxicating and have very different properties. We still consider products containing these materials to be “Alcohol-free” because they are Ethanol free."
