I LOVE perfume. That being said, I also love when I drop nearly $100 bucks on a perfume whose scent lasts more than 45 minutes. I find that my faves ( Prada Iris, Michael Kors, et al ) tend to go on deliciously but then fade away into a sad nothing as the day wears on. For the past 7 years my signature scent has been Dior Addict. It is a strong floral oriental, and it draws innumerable compliments anytime I wear it, which, up until now, was everyday. Shalimar Initial is now my new go-to fragrance. It is not as 'old lady' as it's predecessor, Shalimar. I have been searching for a perfume that will rival the compliments I receive while wearing Addict, and in Shalimar Initial, I have found it. I love it. It is mysterious and powdery, and it lasts FOREVER. I am buying another one just to keep in my purse. I love it. I LOVE IT!

This is a lovely daytime version of the original Shalimar. I wear the original in Extrait form for a dressy evening. Parfum Initial is amber vanilla goodness that is perfect with jeans, business suit, or a little black dress.

When the original Shalimar works on someone, it is one of the most amazing works of art ever created by a perfumer. However, on me, it turns to this terrible lemony baby powder mess. That has always made me sad because I always wished I could wear it without smelling like lemon Pledge. The Parfum Initial version has enough of the original fragrance to satisfy me and does not turn to furniture cleaner! LOL! It has this beautiful warm dry down that has just enough vanilla and just enough spice. Use a light hand with this and you will find yourself getting hints of something both sexy and mysterious and comforting at the same time. Go too heavy on it, though, and it becomes cloying. Less is more with this one. PS - my boyfriend LOVES this on me as when it's been on for hours it turns to sort of a skin scent which is really nice close up.

After spraying this on my wrists to try it out when I would visit the store. I fell in love with how this scent comes on strong at first then blends in with your individual oils to create this soft and sexy long lasting scent, perfect for winter.
