I recently purchased this brush after my MAC cosmetics brushes (I received for x-mas started falling apart - PS beware of gift sets). Anyhoot I instant fell in love; the bristles are very kind to my dry skin, make-up does not cake up on these brushes and they are easy to clean. I use the pointed foundation brush to apply/blend my concealer and the contour brush to apply/blend my foundation (they are the perfect size for my face).

So this is my first time using makeup brushes and I had done some research about good brushes on google. I saw many good rating for this brush set so I decided to try it out. I've had it for a week and I LOVE IT! your makeup goes smoothly on your skin without any streaksuggestions. I do recommend using the buffing brush for foundation because it leaves it really evened out.

                          A:

                          Hi there,

Thanks so much for your question about the Buffing Brush in the Core Collection. I have to tell you that this brush is actually my personal favorite and I absolutely can't live without it.

It's a lovely, soft brush with a full bristle head that is perfect for buffing liquid or pressed liquid foundation. You will want to make sure your skin is fully moisturized before applying any product or using any brush. That will help with areas that are dry.

What I do when using this brush to apply foundation is to dab a small amount on the brush and start on the area of my face with the largest "surface area" (my cheeks). I use a slow and even buffing motion, working the brush to all areas that need coverage. You don't want to press too hard (which you won't need to since the brush is perfectly designed to hold product in the bristles & transfer flawlessly to your face). You also don't want to go too fast since that may irritate sensitive skin.

I think you will find that the softness of the bristles will work very well for you!

Thanks so much and let me know if you have any other questions!

                          A:

The Buffing Brush is not sold individually. The most similar brush that is sold individually is the Expert Face Brush:
                          http://www.ulta.com/ulta/browse/productDetail.jsp?productId=xlsImpprod4260015&skuId=2244502

The bristles are just as dense and will allow for great pickup/application, and it is meant to be used in the same way as the Buffing Brush in terms of applying product on your face. The difference is that the length of the bristles is much shorter. That allows more targeted application and slightly more coverage.

Additionally, the new Bold Metals Flat Contour Brush has a secondary use as a foundation brush:
                          http://www.ulta.com/ulta/browse/productDetail.jsp?productId=xlsImpprod11831013&skuId=2283104

It, too, has denser, shorter bristles, but the quality of the bristles on this brush is second to none! Additionally, the weighted handle allows for more control, leading to flawless looking skin.

We hope this extra info helps! :-)

At its widest point, the diameter of the Pointed Foundation Brush is just over 1.25".

The Detailer Brush is perfect for concealer application. Use the Contour Brush within this set to perfectly apply blush.

Here are the names and the uses of the brushes in the product image, in order from left to right:

Contour brush: delicately applies highlighter to contour or create sheer, soft-focus finish

Pointed foundation brush: use with liquid foundation to build custom coverage

Detailer brush: precision cut to effortlessly conceal problem areas; or, use with lipstick for long-lasting shape and definition

Buffing brush: ideal for full coverage application of powder and mineral foundation

It may be a bit too flat in shape to apply brow products, but many use it to apply concealer around the brows to help define the brows. A video tutorial of this technique is available here:
