I use it alone as a shadow or as a liner or as a base under shadow to make the shadow more vibrant or to enhance or change the color payoff of a shadow. I love how it easily glides on the eye. Very blendable but use an eyeshadow or powder to set this. It will run/smudge/smear if you don't.

I bought the rust color. I like the product very much. I needed something to use as a lipstick to coordinate with my makeup look. This is prefect for my use, and I added a clear gloss over it. I did add it as a smudged look over some onyx shadow under my eyes and a little on the eye lid areas. It wsa a awesome bold smokey look. I got many compliments. I will most likely purchase another couple of colors and use them the same way. I love NYX products.

I bought this in several colors. The first night I wore it I wore "Slate". It smeared so badly that it got all over me and my ex-boyfriend. We did go into the hot tub, so I figured that was why. But then the next time I wore it I wore "Iced Mocha" and "French Fries" to take my Mom out for Mother's day. The colors were really nice, but at the end of the meal, I went to the bathroom and noticed it was all faded off! I hadn't touched my face at all and this time there was no water. I had to re-apply it. It doesn't want to stay. It runs and fades away. Just like my ex, lol.

I love any NYX products, they are definitely comparable to high end brands. I don't actually use these for eyeshadows because as i get older I dont want anything tugging on my eyelids. However, they go on nice in your water line and stay on. would recommend.
