Comments about Dermadoctor Poetry in Lotion Intensive 1% Retinol:

I have noticed a difference in the fine lines and wrinkles. However, I did put it on under my eyes and the skin looked like it was chapped and swollen. I had to wait about 4 days for it to clear up back to normal. I would suggest not putting it to close to the skin under the eye but I still use it very sparingly and since have had no problems.

I have used this for 2 years and everyone thinks I am younger then I am. I look at pictures from 2 years ago and I can see a change in my depth of wrinkles and all fine lines are gone. When I get a new bottle the 1st couple times it burns but after the fourth day the burning is gone.

I only use this product every other nite & that is just enough to keep my skin looking & feeling wonderful.
I suffer from adult acne (hormonal kind) & I love that this product keeps my acne under control. I've been able to stop using harsh products (like proActiv) & even discontinue using any acne serum. So it my seem a bit pricey to begin with, but in the long run its not. I use this 1 product in place of 3 others I have been loyal to for years.

Comments about Dermadoctor Poetry in Lotion Intensive 1% Retinol:

I used to worship the sun every chance I got. Now that I'm 47, it's REALLY starting to show. Over the past couple of years my skin/appearance has gone downhill fast. I've made so many impulse buys for age spot and wrinkle products, in a desperate attempt to, at least, mask the damage. But to no avail, nothing seems to work and I just don't have the patience or the money to use some expensive, long drawn out regimen. As of late, I'd really noticed my age spots were a lot more prominent and my skin, in general, just makes me look older than I am. I was desperate...

So a couple weeks ago I was at my local Ulta, looking at some more age spot/wrinkle products, when a sales girl approached me. I was instantly annoyed because I didn't want to engage in conversation and have someone trying to "sell me" on more than I was prepared to invest. But I hesitantly obliged and confessed why I was there. She asked if she could suggest something over in the cosmetics department. I instantly thought "Great, she's going to try to sell me $300 worth of skin care products that I can't afford and won't have the patience to use". But she handed me this ONE product and said that's all I need. She began telling me of the wonderful powers of Retinol. Of course, I'd heard of it, but I'd never dabbled in its magic before. She suggested that I give it a try and assured me that I didn't have to buy the whole line to see a difference in my skin. That was two weeks ago and I plan on stopping by Ulta to find her and give her a big hug, as soon as I get a chance.

No, my age spots aren't gone... but I can definitely tell they're fading. I have one large spot on my cheek that's going to take a while, I'm sure, but I can already tell that its more subdued... and the rest of my face has taken on a very noticable, smoother, more even toned appearance. I feel so much better about the way I look! I haven't had any irritation and I've been using it pretty much on a daily basis (apparently, I don't have super sensitive skin?). I'm not sure if it's my skin or my regimen? I don't really do anything special, I don't think... but if it helps anyone else, I wash, use a toner, let my face dry, use the Poetry in Lotion, and then I go back later before I crawl in bed and put CereVe moisturizing lotion PM on my face (Great stuff, by the way, but I plan on trying the Dermadoctor Wrinkle Revenge soon). In the morning my skin looks and feels so smooth and healthy. I love this stuff! Well worth the money, in my opinion.

I purchased several products in this line, and after using for a day or two, my skin started burning and it eventually peeled. I returned all the products I purchased, as I was not sure if it was one product or another that was causing the burn.

Comments about Dermadoctor Poetry in Lotion Intensive 1% Retinol:

Okay, I'm with the other reviewers who stated that they really didn't know what they were getting into when using this product. I.Had.No.Idea.

The staff at Ulta did NOT speak enough about the potency of Retinol in Poetry in Lotion. I was a virgin Retinol user, and was not asked whether I had used it before. I was simply told to apply it at bedtime, twice per week.

By the third application, I looked like I had a sunburn on my face and I stopped using the product. It took 10 DAYS for everything to calm down.

However, I COULD SEE that it was working ~ the collagen reproduction (or what ta heck EVER Retinol does) was definitely increased and my skin looked younger, smoother and less sun-damaged.

I did NOT continue using it after I looked all sun-kissed and taught. I am going to start up again tonight (Monday) after cleansing, waiting a long time, and also not RIGHT before I go to bed (I read somewhere that putting your face on the pillow can spread it and affect other areas like eyes).

DO NOT GET THIS NEAR YOUR EYES UNLESS YOU'RE A VETERAN RETINOL USER.

USE VERY LITTLE OF THE PRODUCT, ONE PUMP, AND DOT IT ON YOUR FACE AND FOREHEAD, THEN LIGHTLY BLEND.

I'm looking forward to posting another review after giving this a second chance by SLOWLY building up tolerance!

                        A:

You can certainly use Poetry in Lotion in conjunction with Ain't Misbehavin' Medicated AHA/BHA Acne Cleanser; for best results, limit initial use to no more than every other night as your skin's tolerance adjusts. Only a pea-size amount is needed. Wait 20 minutes after cleansing to apply to completely bare, dry skin at bedtime. Avoid simultaneous application of other topical treatments/moisturizers in order to reduce the risk of dryness or irritation of the skin. Be sure to wear broad spectrum SPF 30 or more during the daytime, as use of retinol and glycolic acid can make your skin more susceptible to sun damage. We hope this helps!
