Comments about Essie Fill The Gap! Ridge Smoothing Base Coat:

This makes a great base coat (or standalone) for peeling, flaking, or ridged nails. A couple coats will fill in deep ridges, leaving a smooth surface that looks natural if worn alone, or helps polish adhere better. It makes my nails nearly as strong and tough as acrylics used to do. The only drawback is it takes a bit of scrubbing with acetone to fully remove it.

If I'm wearing polish over it, I can easily remove the polish and leave the basecoat intact, then reapply polish.

Comments about Essie Fill The Gap! Ridge Smoothing Base Coat:

I always had beautiful long nails until I turned 50. Over the past two years my nails started peeling at the tips...by layers. There was nothing I could do but cut the peeled areas off the tips, resulting in uneven nail lengths. My job is selling high-end jewelry, so I want my nails to looks nice under the jewelry lights. Tried many products and this one seems to do the job! I keep it on my nails at all times. It fills in the peeling areas, but it also fortifies them to keep the peeling from happening as they grow out. I can really tell the difference in my nails as they grow out if I don't use this treatment - the peeling starts happening all over again. So I will be using Fill the Gap at all times. Glad I found it!

I had a lot of uneven surface on my nails after wearing acrylic nails so this really helped to give a smooth surface for future manicures. It's a little thin but I just applied two coats and it worked fine.

Comments about Essie Fill The Gap! Ridge Smoothing Base Coat:

I came to Ulta to get the Essie Ridge Filling Base Coat and found Fill the Gap Treatment. I bought both. I apply Fill the Gap Treatment first and follow with Ridge Filling Base Coat. I have terrible ridges in my nails. I top it all off with Essie Mademoiselle nail polish.
What a difference this has made in my nails! It provides lots of strength and lasts a long time without chipping. I have not broken or torn my nails since I started using this.

This was horrible. I don't have ridges but wanted a smoother base, so I tried this which belongs to my daughter. I did give it several tries, but it was just useless. And it runs everywhere.

I love Essie polish but I do wish the applicator brushes were not so small. Having to take several strokes is a disadvantage in a smooth application.

Comments about Essie Fill The Gap! Ridge Smoothing Base Coat:

I've recently gotten more serious about keeping my nails in good condition, as I've finally stopped my life-long habit of biting them. However, since it's taken me 21 years to start caring about my nails, they are not in very good condition. They have fairly deep ridges, and are very brittle and dry, and I was growing irritated when I'd give myself a manicure and the ridges would show throw the polish, making my nails look old and dry. I'd heard about this ridge filler treatment, and decided it was worth a shot. I am so happy that I tried it, it works marvelously! I don't have much patience when I do my nails, and I don't like waiting very long for them to dry (I always seem to get an itch somewhere!) and I was very happy to find that this base coat takes seconds to dry--and looks great just on its own, as well! Nail polish looks excellent and shiny on top, there are no traces of the ridges on my nails underneath the nail polish, and they look so professional! My nails also feel much harder and less brittle--much sturdier! I am so much more confident about my how my nails look, and much more invested in keeping them healthy and looking nice now! I am very glad I invested the money into this ridge filler, it is definitely part of my nail care regimin now!
