Comments about ULTA-Ultimate Brunette Ultimate Brunette Color Restoring Glaze with Vibrant ColorComplex:

I have some gray in front; don't want to use harsh chemicals. Use to buy John Frida glaze for brunettes but they discontinued product. Ulta's glaze is the only one on the market now, as far as I know. It adds color but does not completely cover grays.

This product is awful. It is like brown water. it has no sustance to it. It seriously comes out of the tube like water. It smells awful and makes my hair feel like hay. I would not advise anyone to purchane or use this product.

Shampoo, add Glaze (leave on for 5 mins) then condition. Hair is really shiny with a subtle golden brown hue, like the effects of a rinse. Better results and cheaper than John Frieda.

I added mine to my shampoo and conditioner as a previous reviewer suggested - which makes the consistency much easier to manage. I do think it effects the texture of my hair, making it feel dirty sooner. I'm not sure if it really does much for the color either. I haven't seen strong results.

Comments about ULTA-Ultimate Brunette Ultimate Brunette Color Restoring Glaze with Vibrant ColorComplex:

I wanted to try the John Frieda hair glaze after the good reviews in "Allure" magazine. But, my local store was out of the name brand, and I purchased this instead. I am glad that I read the reviews before I used it so I knew what to expect. I have shoulder length, naturally brown hair of medium thickness. I have my hair colored to a richer chesnut brown every 8 weeks or so to cover a few grays and add some dimension. I wanted a quick color pick-me-up between colors. After reading the other reviews saying that this product was really watery and tended to stain skin, shower tile, etc., I decided to prep with a few extra steps. First of all, I mixed the Ulta glaze with my regular conditioner in a bowl prior to getting in the shower. I did this to make the watery glaze a little thicker and to cut the smell. (I am not going to lie - the Ulta glaze smells like hair dye. It is a strong, unpleasant smell). I mixed the conditioner and glaze until I had a dark chocolate brown, thin oatmeal like consistency. After shampooing my hair, I scooped my mixture out of the bowl, and ran it through my hair, adding extra around my grays and rubbing it in at my scalp. Then I pinned my hair up with a plastic clip while I waited 5 minutes for the glaze to set. Even with the conditioner, the mixture was still very thin. I could feel it dripping off my head. After rinsing and blow drying, my hair DOES look slightly darker and it DOES look shinier. My few grays are still visible, but they do appear less noticeable. Unlike the other reviewers, the Ulta glaze did not make my hair flat, oily, or frizzy. Fortunately, the dye smell does NOT stay in my hair after rinsing. Any residual glaze or stains in my ALL WHITE tile shower wiped up immediately after my shower with a damp washcloth. I am going to finish the bottle, but I am not sure if I would buy this again. I may try the John Frieda, but I think my expectations for these glazes were a little too high.

I use this glaze 1-2 times a week in place of conditioner after shampooing with the Ultimate Brunette shampoo. I love that it is very moisturizing and makes my hair color look rich and freshly colored! The smell is odd, but I can get past that. I started using it after coloring my hair before Thanksgiving and still have not had to re-do it. It has made a huge impact on the life of a dye job.
