Comments about Color Oops Hair Color Remover:

First off, I usually don't write reviews for many products, but this one deserves a review. Before purchasing Color Oops, I read reviews. And a lot of them. While some were good and others were not so good, I had mixed feelings on whether or not I should purchase this product and use it in my hair. I'm such a wimp when it comes to dying my hair or doing anything drastic at home to it, because I always fear the worst. I was worried about my hair coming out a weird or orange color after using this but, no worries, because it didn't.

About a year ago, I went from my natural blonde to a brown highlights with red highlights (although I didn't as for the red, my hair person decide to just throw some in there anyways). I didn't want the red anymore, so I went back a few months later and went totally brunette. But the red was still showing! After both of these colors somewhat faded and I decided I wanted to be blonde again, I made a trip back to the salon. I walked out with a strawberry blonde color, and the roots of my hair being ultra blonde! Not worth the 75 dollars I paid. I waited a month and decided to try to fix the color myself at home. A daring step for me. I purchased Color Oops extra strength and a box of light ash blonde hair dye.

I followed the directions exactly according to the box of Color Oops, and although my hair felt dry shampooing and washing it out for twenty minutes, in the end it was fine. I let it air dry and finished it off with a blow dryer, and although it didn't return me to a full blonde, it lifted the red out of my hair and there was no more red tint! That was my goal, and I reached it.

After finishing with Color Oops, I applied a neutral hair protein filler like suggested, and applied the hair dye. After using Color Oops, the box says that color will take quickly and to use two shades lighter than intended! It didn't lie! The color took to my hair within three or four minutes.

After finishing with Color Oops and the hair dye, I am back to almost my natural blonde color :) Just what I wanted. After conditioning after the hair color, my hair was super soft and there was no damage! I definitely would recommend this product. It was a life saver when it came to getting rid of that red tint!

I have naturally dark brown hair. I tried to dye my hair purple without an bleach and it came out black. I used this expecting my hair to turn back brown, but instead it turned my hair blonde!

Comments about Color Oops Hair Color Remover:

Before use, be sure to check out the recommended tips on their website. This is very important. Be sure you have a protein reconstructor and semi permanent dye on hand. Choose a shade two levels lighter than desired results. If you started with black/brown/red like I did, get a light ash brown, or even a dark ash blonde. Your hair will darken after you apply the protein. I applied the product, covered in plastic, and heated the plastic with a hair dryer. I left it on 30 munutes. I rinsed for 20 minutes, shampooing three times with Palmolive, and once with my own shampoo. I used a deep conditioner. I wrapped in a towel for 10 minutes. I then brushed my hair and applied Nexus Polymedic protein reconstructor. I applied the protein pre-treatment that came with my Clairol Age Defy medium ash brown color. I massaged it in well, then applied the color. I left the color on for just 5 minutes, then rinsed. My color is gorgeous. I do wish I had purchased a lighter shade, but I'm happy with the results. I have no brassiness or red tones. Just a beautiful dark brown. My hair was left soft with no damage. No dryness. It's really shiny. Next time, I'll use a lighter ash brown in a semi permanent color, then do another protein treatment over the next two weeks, then dye with a permanent light ash brown when the temporary starts to fade. I'm confident I will achieve the lighter color I've wanted for years. If you use this product, follow instructions to a T, and you'll achieve great results. One last comment: This product smells nowhere near as bad as it used to. It used to smell like perms did in the 80s. They must have changed the formula. There is only a faint sulphur citrus scent. Big improvement!

Comments about Color Oops Hair Color Remover:

My sister wanted to "change my look". I have naturally dark brown hair but kept my hair light brown after years of sporting ombre (think honey blond highlights on a caramel princess :)). Anyway, she put "Blackberry" in my hair. Well it was more black than berry and I hated it. It was in my hair exactly one week and turned every towel I used to dry my hair pink. I was officially sick of it. After doing research, I learned it would cost me no less that about $400 to correct this mistake. Well it only cost $20 to mess it up so I didn't see that as being an option and living with it until it washed out wasn't an option either. I googled this product and figured I'd give it a shot. It didn't smell half as bad as the other post claimed. I used the Extra Conditioning formula. Super easy to mix and in one application the blackberry was gone and although a weird under color was revealed, I was prepared to return to my light brown "natural" color. In less than 2 hours I was happy! I highly recommend ColorOops!

Comments about Color Oops Hair Color Remover:

This product worked as I expected it to. It is not meant to return your color to its natural color. I wanted to remove the black and dark brown I've been coloring it the last few years, so I could color it a light auburn brown color. It did what I wanted, took out the black and lighted the brown. I had about an inch of roots that I did not use this product on, because I knew the hair color would lighten them. The smell was not as bad as some reviews stated, actually the smell of the hair color was worse. I did shampoo about 3 time rinsing about 10 minutes between. I also conditioned. I let the conditioner sit on my hair 10 to 15 minutes before rinsing it out. I then let it air dry before coloring my hair. There are tips on the instructions, I suggest reading them. Also there a bunch of helpful videos on YouTube.

Comments about Color Oops Hair Color Remover:

I had my hair dyed professionally and what was supposed to be a rich brown with highlights turned out to be a dark, reddish black with ugly yellow strands throughout.
I bought this product, it was easy to use and it removed the dark color from my hair. However, my hair is NOT my natural color. Instead of returning my hair to medium brown, it turned my hair a weird strawberry blonde color. I was definitely not expecting this product to lighten my hair, and I have never been blonde so it looks very different.
I do think that it was gentle enough to dye my hair back to its natural color, and for that I'm thankful! However, I probably would not use this product again unless I was desperate.
