Not as good as I hoped

Comments about DevaCurl No-Poo:

I have thin, wavy to curly hair, and was expecting a product that would define the curls and reduce frizz. I did not buy the conditioner, because I had some Sebastian Drench conditioner left, and I'm really glad I didn't waste another $20. The first use, my hair was straggly, almost straight and the frizziest it's been in a loooooong time. The second time was better, but not great. I now use the DC shampoo with a L'Oreal sulphate-free conditioner that is a bit heavier. I can live with the results until it's gone...then I'll go back to Sebastian. It was definitely not worth the extra money (and no coupon was accepted at Ulta because it's a "premium" product!) and I will not purchase again.

I do not like the smell. It tries to be citrus, but it's not.

Oh, and for some reason, it is hard to squeeze the shampoo out of the cap. I now just unscrew the cap each time.

Overall, very disappointing.

Comments about DevaCurl No-Poo:

I have very thick long wavy/curly hair. This isn't a lathering shampoo so after always using lathering shampoo's I'm never sure if its cleaning as well as it should. Because of this I keep thinking I need to add more product, so its difficult assessing how much is right.
As far as smell goes, it has a clean smell. My hair has smelled better with other shampoo's, but its not a bad smell. I can see how some people may not like the smell, but the good news is that it's not an overwhelming smell once you're out of the shower and your hair is dry.
When used with the conditioner, it does work well with hair. Only drawback is that the price is high then needing the conditioner along with it does make it rather pricey.

    Comments about DevaCurl No-Poo:

I have very oily and straight/wavy Brazilian hair. Its normal coarseness (not too thick or too thin). Even before this No Poo product, I unintentionally got into the habit of simply not washing my hair every day. I don't care about the no lather because I know very well that those are just the sulfate detergents stripping your hair of natural oil that your hair needs. I wash my hair every 3 or 4 days (around 2 times per week) and use Batiste dry shampoo in between. I take a quarter size amount into my palm and massage it for several minutes into my roots only, then rinse out completely (i don't even use conditioner but that depends on how dry your hair is). My hair is healthier and the smell of the product is light and natural. I also have dyed hair so cleansing only twice a week and with a product this nourishing and gentle makes my color last forever. Its a good habit to break away from the waste of money that are sulfate shampoos. I can't really say anything negative about it. Of course, anyone who cares about the suds may say that it is negative to them. Not my case anyway though. I'd like to try the Low-poo and the anti-fade no poo in the future in the future.

My low-maintenance teenaged son wanted a one-step product that would make the most of his signature curls. Impossible? No! DevaCurls No-Poo does an amazing job at adding shine, managing frizz, and defining his beautiful spiral curls. I can tell that the product is cleansing well because his hair never smells dirty. Often, he follows with a leave-in conditioner/styler for a more finished look, but it's not absolutely necessary.

                  Comments about DevaCurl No-Poo:

I really like this product. For years, I used harsh shampoos with sulfates in my hair every day because I didn't really start embracing my natural hair until recently. I have problems with frizz and very dry hair, and this product takes the oily look out of my hair while not drying it out. The only con is that it can be a little heavy after not using any other cleanser after a while, so I suggest using a normal shampoo or a clarifying shampoo every once in a while.

I have fine , damaged , flat, color treated hair. Oil and product builds up within 2-3 days and I have to wash my hair. I need volume , moisture , and life lol. I purchased the no poo today along with the one conditioner and light defining gel. Will the no poo eliminate the product build up and cleanse properly? Do I have to use it with someone else? A:

We suggest stopping the use of products that cause build up. Many products contain sulfates that strip your hairs' natural oils and silicones that will weigh down your hair and will continue to build up if you continue to layer them day after day. DevaCurl products are sulfate, silicone and paraben free, as well as water soluble, so they won't build up in your hair. Start with using No-Poo. If your hair currently has build up on it, use it twice in a row the first couple times. Apply No-Poo to your scalp and scrub the scalp vigorously to remove build up and infuse natural moisture. Rinse thoroughly. Then apply One Condition to mid lengths and ends only. Glide downward, detangle with your fingers, and then rinse. Then flip head over and scrunch upward with the DevaTowel (or microfiber towel) to remove excess water. Apply generous amount (palm full) of gel by gliding it over the hair and scrunching upward again. Towel blot if necessary. Then let air dry or diffuse with the DevaFuser.

                      A:

The easiest thing you can do to get gorgeous curls is to ditch shampoo. While your go to foaming formula may smell amazing, it could be creating frizz (and a lot of frustration). Curly hair tends to be drier than straight textures because it is harder for natural oils to travel from the roots all the way to the ends. The harsh ingredients found in many shampoos, like sodium lauryl sufate, ammonium laureth sulfate, etc. strip away much needed moisture. That's why No-Poo, our original zero lather cleanser is such a game changer. No-Poo is gentle, incredibly moisturizing, packed with botanicals and is 100% sulfate, silicone and paraben free. It is great for all hair types. Just be sure to use friction on your scalp with your fingertips while cleansing and while rinsing it out. Follow it up with One Condition, our ultra-creamy daily conditioner, and you'll be left with beautiful, frizz-free curls!

I would recommend using No-Poo, along with either One Condition or Heaven In Hair. It depends upon how dehydrated your hair is. You can alternate between One Condition and Heaven In Hair as a hair masque until hydration is restored. Apply Heaven in Hair to damp hair out of the shower and cover with a plastic cap, with or without heat for 15-30 minutes. Then rinse. During this time, try not to use products that contain sulfates and silicone, as they will prevent moisture from penetrating the hair.

There is the possibility that there is a trace amount of gluten in the wheat proteins/amino acids in No-Poo. We advise those with gluten allergies to avoid this product as a precautionary measure.

We recommend Low-Poo to consumers with wheat/gluten concerns. However, please keep in mind that some of the ingredients in DevaCurl products may have been processed in the same manufacturing facility as wheat/gluten ingredients, so cross contamination is always a possibility.

Because you have fine hair, we would suggest that you use Low-Poo to cleanse your scalp. After rinsing, apply One Condition mid-shaft to the ends to detangle. Rinse well. For styling, we suggest Frizz-Free Volumizing Foam applied to very wet hair, and then Light Defining Gel.
