I used to get my hair ...

By TaraB

Comments about L'Oréal Frost and Design Kit:

I used to get my hair colored at a salon. I decided to try this one time and never looked back. I've been using this product for about 7 or 8 years now and I absolutely love it. People ask me all the time where I get my hair colored and compliment me on how beautiful my highlights are. Including the last stylist to cut my hair. She was shocked when I told her it was a L'Oreal kit I use at home. My sister uses this kit sometimes too and her only complaint is how tedious and tiring on your arms it can be pulling all your hair through the cap. Especially with longer hair. I guess I just look at it as the nature of doing this at home and to me it's totally worth it for the results I get. I would be SO sad if L'Oreal ever stopped making this! So, thanks L'Oreal. keep it up! Haha.

Comments about L'Oréal Frost and Design Kit:

For the longest I wanted all over blonde highlights. I spent over $150 to get them! And as usual with my dark hair the color didn't come out as I intended. I usually wear extensions and now I couldn't cause my hair color and the fact the bleach damaged my hair I had to cut it even shorter. After a month of rocking my hair in a pony tail I decided to DIY my hair extensions. I started with this product first and the process was stress full. Getting your hair through the little holes was a lot of work and it tended to tangle my hair which made the process that much more time consuming. The actually lightening product worked. It made my darkest brown hair transform to an all over caramel highlight. It wasn't frosty! It wasn't blonde it was a lighter brown. After two weeks of doing nothing to it I ended up finding a product that did wonders! It was super fast and easy! Not only did it lighten my extensions and gave it dimensional highlights, it also matched my hair!! It was garner boxed hair color that specifically transforms your hair from dark to light. I took a risk and went for the one that before hair was black but thank God cause it worked! Now I'm rocking my extensions all over the place!!

This product was perfect! My sister wanted highlights in her hair. She previously had highlights and just wanted some extra to brighten up her overall color. We followed the directions and everything went as expected.

Comments about L'Oréal Frost and Design Kit:

I been using this color for years to highlight my hair till recently year I change my hair style and do ambre. This is the best product! I love it! But the annoying part is putting the cap on and have to use that metal thingy to poke through the hair and pull some hair out. It takes a while to pull all the hair out from all the holes on the cap so I just poke few here and there till I like it. I always use Loreal to dye my hair ;D

Comments about L'Oréal Frost and Design Kit:

I previously used Feria B61 Downtown Brown to provide multi-tonal color to shoulder length fine hair bob. Bad mistake; hair was drab flat mouse brown. I called consultant who recommended Frost & Design and advised me to test often and go through all color changes (brown, red, orange, yellow, light) Doing the pull through cap by myself was nearly impossible; took me 3 hours to do all over, and I pre-punched the holes. The metal hook did not readily grab my hair and it hurt, but I persisted. Applied color after 4 test strands. Color lift took 65 minutes and still looked pinkish. I thought I had made huge mistake the entire time, but persisted, rinsed out, shampooed. Did not apply conditioner which I always need, applied toner, dried. Lo and behold, hair looks great! Many tones, lightens up and blends the drab mouse brown into vibrant dark blond, which is what I was going for. It isn't perfect; with cap it is very hard to get close to roots. Hair is dry but I think will be ok when I next wash and condition. Took a long time, definitely get a partner for pull through cap. I only used half of the mixture, so would definitely use half next time. But looks good and I am happy.

Comments about L'Oréal Frost and Design Kit:

I was looking for a highlighting kit, that had a subtle, but still noticeable lift. This gave more of a lift than expected, but I still absolutely loved the way my hair turned out the first time, since then (3 months ago) I have re-purchased and re-dyed my hair and the results matched the previous results. I was absolutely 100% pleased and I recommend this if you are looking for a highlighting kit. The only down side is the highlighting cap hurts when you poke the hook through the plastic and it digs in your scalp.

Comments about L'Oréal Frost and Design Kit:

To lighten all over, you really need two people. I'd go for every two or three holes rather than every other or every hole in the cap. Pull through less hair rather than more. If you have long hair, prepare for some "discomfort" when pulling hair through holes. It was easy to mix. The color is more gold/yellow than I expected. With medium brown hair, I was expecting a more caramel color. Overall, it's ok but not as nice as I thought it would be.

Comments about L'Oréal Frost and Design Kit:

I had previously dyed my dark brown hair with Garnier permanent light brown (can't remember the name of the product but it is new, oil based and ammonia free) and about 2 weeks later decided I would try highlighting at home because I was bored with my hair color. I hadn't done that in years because I always felt like I needed a helper for the back of my head. Anyway, I wanted a product that would give me caramel highlights on dark hair. I did the strand test first which I usually am too impatient to do but I strongly recommend that you do this before putting the mixture on your entire head. My test showed I needed about 40 minutes so that's how long I left the mixture on once I had pulled the hair through most of the holes. As far as the back I did the best I could myself. Since it did not come with its own conditioner I used a deep conditioner before toning it and then the next day conditioned it again (no shampoo)and it looks as good as if I had paid and tipped my hairdresser.

Follow the directions exactly.... and you will not be disappointed. Do not skip a step even during the process of executing the testing sample of your hair. Vastly different results if you do not follow every simple step.
