I am not sure if it is just me or what. But, I have purchased two different types of these Hot Tools curling irons and I hated them both! The first one was the regular one (gray barrel) and it did not glide my hair through. I found it to pull my hair and be very rough. The curl was also not very good. The second one I purchased was this purple one. OMG, after about a month, the purple coating or paint or whatever started to chip off! This revealed a rusted color of the barrel. I also ran into the same problem of it pulling my hair. Needless to say, I returned this as well. I am better off using my old, ConAir curling iron that is about 8 years old and purchased for $16!

I have long hair and wanted a curling iron that was not too big or too little. And this was just right. It is the perfect size and is easy to handle.

Heats up fast and holds a lot of hair. My hair is just past my shoulders and I was going for lose, wavy curls. The 2" barrel is too big for that style. It provides a great casual look similar to a blow-dry-with-roundbrush style. :)

This curling iron does a great job. It heats up fast and curls beautifully. The ceramic barrel prevents burning and frizziness.

I was willing to pay more for a curling iron that would not burn and damage my fine hair so I bought this curling iron. I loved this curling iron when I got it. It curled my fine hair well. I am able to adjust the temperature to the lowest setting which is better for my hair type. It did not seem to damage my hair. Now a little over a year after buying it, the coating is coming off. It also seems to be burning my hair. I assume the coating was protecting my hair but that coating is now coming off. Of course this started just after the 1 year warranty expired. I am disappointed it has been no better than a cheap drug store curling iron.

I've purchased this item twice and I finally returned it the second time. Both times the cord tangled up badly and some of the purple protective coating flaked off and burned my hair! I switched to the blck and white model and have had a much better experience.
