Comments about Mederma Skin Care for Scars Cream:
My husband bought me the big tube of it for Christmas. I had just had a baby 6 months before that. I got a lot of stretch marks on my stomach. I wasn't happy. I started using Mederma 2 times a day for 4 weeks and I noticed a big difference. My stretch marks were lighter, my skin was softer and they were less noticeable. Now (3 months of using Mederma) My stretch marks are GONE! I can't see them, I barley feel them and they feel soo much better. I am very pleased and very excited for summer. I will buy this product again with my next child.

Comments about Mederma Skin Care for Scars Cream:
Everyone has different experiences but personally, I am a fan of this product because it worked for me. A few years ago I rubbed my calf against a horse staddle till it was raw. Doctor put iodine on it with a large square bandage and shorty after I learned that I was allergic to iodine thanks to the large, horrible, burn like scar it left. I got Mederma about a year later after getting sick of looking at the ugly patch on my leg. After applying it twice a day for 6 weeks the scar was basically gone! I recommend it to any of my friends that are trying to get rid of a scar.

Comments about Mederma Skin Care for Scars Cream:
This product should come with a checklist, cause even though it *does* work, it's only worth your time & money under these certain conditions:
1) You aren't allergic. Just take a quick scroll through the reviews for this product and you'll see many, many people who have had bad reactions to it (itchiness, redness, flakiness, etc.) But whether it's common or not, severe irritation isn't a good thing and you shouldn't continue to use the product and wonder why your skin keeps getting worse. If you're clearly having a bad reaction, STOP USING IT! (It's common sense, really...)
2) You're following the basic product directions. It needs to be applied several times a day over the course of several weeks or months. It should be rubbed in to the scar, and not just slathered on like regular lotion. If you've just been using it once in awhile, or whenever you stumble across the tube in your bathroom drawer, you can't really complain about not getting results because you're not following the necessary steps. And this is one of the rare cases in which following the directions really makes a difference in the effectiveness of an OTC treatment.
3) You can be patient. I think that a lot of people who claim that they used the product perfectly and it still "did nothing" actually HAVE improved the appearance of their scars, and in much less time than if they had not used any product whatsoever- it's just really difficult to see the progress when it happens so slowly. Scars can take a loooong time to heal, and some may never fully disappear. Unfortunately we haven't yet invented the magical fix-all skin serum that will regrow our skin overnight, and the only products we do have require a bit of time, patience and persistence on our part.
So, my long-winded conclusion is that Mederma scar therapy products *do* work, but there *are* strings attached.
Personally, I started using it on my 3 most visible scars: a burn on my forearm (splashed with hot oil while cooking,) a vertical cut on my thigh (attacked by a cactus while jogging in the desert,) and a knee bruise-turned-scar (drunkenly falling on the sidewalk outside of a bar when I was 22.) These scars range from 6 months to 6 years old. I've been using Mederma scar therapy several times a day for 3 months, and I would estimate that all 3 scars have faded by at least 40%. I think that the burn scar has been the most resistant, and has showed the least improvement, though I'm not really sure why. None of them have fully gone away, but they have improved so much that I feel that the cost and the time of using the product was WELL WORTH IT.

Comments about Mederma Skin Care for Scars Cream:
I purchased this two weeks ago for my daughter to use on insect bites and we both see a difference in the marks. They have already started to lighten; I can't wait to see the results after six weeks.

Comments about Mederma Skin Care for Scars Cream:
Used the gel as directed. I noticed my skin got extremely itchy where I applied the gel. After months the scar did not reduce at all.
Then I tried vitamin E supplements (to swallow, not topical). My scar has diminished in 2 months of taking this vitamin than it ever did on Mederma! Cheaper too! No itching :)

So I have been using the gel for a couple of weeks now. I started July 1st. I apply it to the scars from the bed bugs that bit me coz the bite turned dark from scratching. I am telling you, there is a big difference from the first day.

Comments about Mederma Skin Care for Scars Cream:
Absolutely love this product!! I was unable to find the cream so I settled for the gel, but none the less I would definitely recommend it! I recently burned myself with a curling iron. I under estimated the damage it did lol The burn healed but there was a pretty nasty scar left. So, I started using Mederma on it. I couldn't be happier it's been about two weeks of using it daily and it's hardly noticeable! I have also been using it on old acne scars, and they are fading as well. I'm extremely happy. The only recommendation is to use it at night. It is a gel so it can be sticky/itches at times.
