Comments about Mederma Skin Care for Scars Cream:

I have some acne scars and i heard merderma would help. But it certainly did not! At first it lightened very little then with 8 weeks of use i stopped because it made the skin i applied merderma to dark. It doesnt lighten the scar, it darkens the skin around it. Making my skin even worse

Comments about Mederma Skin Care for Scars Cream:

I really recommend this product. It really works! I am an older woman, and have older scars on my body, alot of it due to hyper-pigmentation and I have suffered with it for years. Throughout the years, I have purchased alot of expensive scar removal remedies and nothing worked for me. I decided to buy a tube of Mederma, and I cannot believe the scars are fading and barely visible. I still need to use a little concealer, but I feel I can face the world better now. It does take some time, I use it regularly at bed time. If you have a new scar, use the Mederma right away and it will fade fast. For older scars like mine, it may take months, but it does work. I encourage you to give it a try.

Comments about Mederma Skin Care for Scars Cream:

Used Gel with GREAT success on facial surgery years ago and major knee surgery now. Got comments from Dr. & physical therapist on amazing healing of 8"scar. But, just used the cream and after a day of applying 2x daily it's itchy, hot and developing a rash. Stinks to have to drop so much on cream that I will not give away now. But I will get the gel again.

I love this product, it has been very effective to me. I apply it every night after taking a shower. I am supposed to use it every day for about 8 weeks so I am still in the process. I definitely recommend it
I gave this product four stars just because I have to apply it every single day for many weeks. But other than that, it is awesome!

I use have used this scar cream on recent burn scars that I got from cooking and ironing and the scars have disappeared within a few weeks and was able to disconinue use. I have also used Mederma on acne scars on my cheeks and have noticed my skin becoming more smooth. I plan on continuing use to see how much more improvement can be obtained.

Comments about Mederma Skin Care for Scars Cream:

My husband bought me the big tube of it for Christmas. I had just had a baby 6 months before that. I got a lot of stretch marks on my stomach. I wasn't happy. I started using Mederma 2 times a day for 4 weeks and I noticed a big difference. My stretch marks were lighter, my skin was softer and they were less noticeable. Now (3 months of using Mederma) My stretch marks are GONE! I can't see them, I barley feel them and they feel soo much better. I am very pleased and very excited for summer. I will buy this product again with my next child.

Comments about Mederma Skin Care for Scars Cream:

Everyone has different experiences but personally, I am a fan of this product because it worked for me. A few years ago I rubbed my calf against a horse staddle till it was raw. Doctor put iodine on it with a large square bandage and shorty after I learned that I was allergic to iodine thanks to the large, horrible, burn like scar it left. I got Mederma about a year later after getting sick of looking at the ugly patch on my leg. After applying it twice a day for 6 weeks the scar was basically gone! I recommend it to any of my friends that are trying to get rid of a scar.

Does work, but you need to be consistent and patient. Will help fade scars and help promote healing of new sores to prevent scarring.

Comments about Mederma Skin Care for Scars Cream:

This product should come with a checklist, cause even though it *does* work, it's only worth your time & money under these certain conditions:

                      1) You aren't allergic. Just take a quick scroll through the reviews for this product and you'll see many, many people who have had bad reactions to it (itchiness, redness, flakiness, etc.) But whether it's common or not, severe irritation isn't a good thing and you shouldn't continue to use the product and wonder why your skin keeps getting worse. If you're clearly having a bad reaction, STOP USING IT! (It's common sense, really...)

                      2) You're following the basic product directions. It needs to be applied several times a day over the course of several weeks or months. It should be rubbed in to the scar, and not just slathered on like regular lotion. If you've just been using it once in awhile, or whenever you stumble across the tube in your bathroom drawer, you can't really complain about not getting results because you're not following the necessary steps. And this is one of the rare cases in which following the directions really makes a difference in the effectiveness of an OTC treatment.

                      3) You can be patient. I think that a lot of people who claim that they used the product perfectly and it still "did nothing" actually HAVE improved the appearance of their scars, and in much less time than if they had not used any product whatsoever- it's just really difficult to see the progress when it happens so slowly. Scars can take a loooong time to heal, and some may never fully disappear. Unfortunately we haven't yet invented the magical fix-all skin serum that will regrow our skin overnight, and the only products we do have require a bit of time, patience and persistence on our part.

So, my long-winded conclusion is that Mederma scar therapy products *do* work, but there *are* strings attached.

Personally, I started using it on my 3 most visible scars: a burn on my forearm (splashed with hot oil while cooking,) a vertical cut on my thigh (attacked by a cactus while jogging in the desert,) and a knee bruise-turned-scar (drunkenly falling on the sidewalk outside of a bar when I was 22.) These scars range from 6 months to 6 years old. I've been using Mederma scar therapy several times a day for 3 months, and I would estimate that all 3 scars have faded by at least 40%. I think that the burn scar has been the most resistant, and has showed the least improvement, though I'm not really sure why. None of them have fully gone away, but they have improved so much that I feel that the cost and the time of using the product was WELL WORTH IT.
