Comments about Clairol Born Blonde Ultra Blue Kit:
I am already naturally a dark blonde and I have colored my hair for years, to maintain a light ash blonde shade. However, I have a red undertone, and when I saw this product I thought "Perfect! Finally a formula for me!" WRONG.
My hair came out ORANGE and YELLOW. Just the opposite results that I was expecting based on the description on the box. I was mortified!!! The minimum time to leave the product in is 20 minutes, and the max is 90. I only left it in for 45, and my hair has never looked more brassy and dry. The ends of my hair are SO brittle and damaged now, and my hair is a lot more tangled since it's so dry. :'(

Comments about Clairol Born Blonde Ultra Blue Kit:
I have very thick, dark hair that I have been coloring since I was in high school. After a few years back to dark brunette, I decided to go blonde for the summer. Previous attempts at lightening my hair were huge disasters, but this time it was a lot better. I had to leave the product on for the full 90 minutes and it lightened my hair dramatically. I did have some brassiness, but applying some violet toner afterwards gave me a bright, light blonde. This product made the bleaching process a whole lot easier. FYI, you have to follow the directions exactly, and leave it on the full 90 minutes to get any type of decent result.

Comments about Clairol Born Blonde Ultra Blue Kit:
DO NOT USE THIS PRODUCT. It advertises that it will not leave brass in your hair. FALSE. If your hair is anything other than already blond, it will leave your hair full of neon orange, yellow, and white. My hair looks like buttered popcorn, I kid you not. I have used many hair products over the years and this is the first time I have not only been disappointed, but traumatized. I can't even leave my house, it's THAT BAD. I made sure I left the product on my hair for the FULL time allowed (90 mins), to make sure I wasn't left with anything but blond. FAIL. I cannot see how any amount of time would make this product work. YOU'VE BEEN WARNED! If you have brown or dark hair, do the smart thing...just seek a professional!! What a nightmare and a complete waste of money/time. Now I have to spend more money to fix it.

Comments about Clairol Born Blonde Ultra Blue Kit:
I regularlly color my hair at home and have naturally blonde hair that tends to lean towards brassy so I use box color to brighten it up and remove the yellow tones. Let me emphasize, I am a natural blonde! I have used a handful of box dyes over the years and never had an issue, some working better than others. It doesnt usually take much to lift my hair a shade since it is already blonde. I used this product over the weekend, followed the directions and it somehow turned my hair orange!!! If I had dark blonde hair or brown then I would say I didnt leave it on long enough but my hair is already a light blonde so it shouldnt have made it orange at all. I then had to buy another product, rebleach and then tone to get a somewhat normal not florescent oragne hairstyle. I have overprocessed my hair at this point and have to walk around looking like an idiot until my hair calms down enough to have it addressed. I would hate to think how this product would work on someone with anything darker than a light blonde! I would suggest going with any of the L'oreal products as I have never had any issues with them and they leave my hair soft, silky and beautifully blonde!

Comments about Clairol Born Blonde Ultra Blue Kit:
I have naturally very dark brown hair, and it's far from virgin. I wanted to update my look without doing something as drastic as cutting it (I always end up regretting it after). So I decided to try an at home ombre. I haven't dyed my hair in over a year, so my roots are natural, but the ends are still colored, which is why the bleach was essential. I got the ultra blue formula because I read that it's supposed to help stop dark hair from turning brassy. And it did just that! It's vital to do a test strand to see how your hair will react to the product and to gauge how long you need to leave it in for (I had to go the maximum 90mins). The conditioner that comes with it is amazing. It left my hair silky and smooth, and not at all like I had just bleached it for so long. My final color has the very tips of my hair being blonde, with some strawberry blonde, and light brown until it reaches my natural brown color. Friends and family all love my color, and it's my personal favorite to date! The whole process was rather time consuming, but not any longer than I'd expect to be at a hair salon..and a lot cheaper! I'll definitely use this product again!

Comments about Clairol Born Blonde Ultra Blue Kit:
I used this to dye my hair back to blonde after months of dark brown hair. I left it on for an hour and i now have bright, and I mean bright, orange hair. What a mistake! Too embarrassed to even go to a professional salon, let alone out in public!

I have been buying this product for the past two years and I really love it. Even when my hair has been dark brown, the light blonde color is easily achieved.

Comments about Clairol Born Blonde Ultra Blue Kit:
Don't skimp on the time. I left it on 25 min and it came out strawberry blonde. I had to go to a salon and have them tone down the red. The stylist at the salon said not to be afraid to let it sit for 45 min. It's hard to tell what color it is while on your head and I was afraid to leave on too long but you must wait and let it go through all the colors. It will pass through the red, orange, yellow stages.

Comments about Clairol Born Blonde Ultra Blue Kit:
ok so I have been dying my hair from a box a lighter color every time to prepare it to be dyed blonde hoping that it would help lighten it and it would get the shade I want. I bought a colorsilk blonde version 6 weeks ago that turned my hair orange/blonde..but I didn't get what I wanted. My hair btw is dark brown/medium brown with red tones in it. So I tried this. I left it on for an hour and 10mins and before I washed it, it looked orange but once I washed it out it came out a very yellow color with maybe just a hint of orange but monstly yellow. Really I read if its orange you didn't leave it in long enough. Anyway I've very happy with the way it turned out. Its very blonde now and the orange doesn't bother me cause its not that bad. My roots aren't orange which matters more to me. so all and all I will be buying this again to touch up my roots in 6 weeks.

Comments about Clairol Born Blonde Ultra Blue Kit:
I have dark brunette hair and I've used many other products including the "born blonde-maxi", but always ended up with brassy or orange roots. The born blonde ultra blue worked great! I almost went to my stylist and paid $65 to have my roots done, but I decided to try this. [$] at ulta and $3 for a toner. [$] is definitely better than $65. Try it. Give it the full time it recommends.
