I bought it because it is the old version minus the sulphates. My hair was not as soft and I lost volume. Returned it and switched backed to the old red bottle color extend formula.

                • Q:

I am 62 and get my graying shoulder length hair colored a medium brown with some low lights, every 5 to 6 weeks. My hair is still thick, but dry, lacks shine and softness and is now frizzy also. Which color treated shampoo and conditioner would be best for my hair? Help!!

                    A:

Redken Color Extend Magnetics Shampoo is a fabulous shampoo for color treated hair. It will lock in you color, fortify you hair and gently cleanse your hair without stripping it of oils.

In order to treat your hair, which you describe as dry, dull and frizzy, we recommend using Redken Diamond Oil Shatterproof Shine. This is a leave-in (or rinse out) treatment that restores the lipid layer to your hair and locks in moisture for a smooth, frizz controlled look with shine.

I have color treated hair that fades quickly at roots and also dandruff. Is this a good product for both or can you recommend one? I'm told sulfate free is the way to go

                    A:

Yes, Redken Color Extend Magnetics is the ideal shampoo for locking in your color. It is gentle, sulfate-free and does not dry out the scalp.

You might also benefit from using Redken Scalp Relief Shampoo. It soothes the scalp and relieves dandruff. You could wash with Scalp Relief once or twice a week to relieve your scalp, and Color Extend Magnetics the rest of the week.

                    A:

Color Extend Magnetics Shampoo is a gentle sulfate free, lightweight, gentle conditioning cleanser. It forms a protective seal that captures salon fresh vibrancy which is excellent for all hair color treated types. Blonde Idol is specific to the needs of all blonde hair types. Blonde Idol may be a better selection for fine blonde hair, because some of the benefits include reinforcing strength while leaving hair brightened, conditioned and replenished. Another option to consider is the Redken Extreme line depending on the condition of your hair. It would be best to consult with an Ulta Beauty stylist who can evaluate your hair and recommend the products that would be best for your specific hair needs!

If you are looking for volume, we recommend Redken Body Full Shampoo to gently cleanse and add volume, movement and shine. Then follow with Body Full Light Conditioner to detangle, add volume, and rebalance moisture without adding weight. The Body Full line is safe for color-treated hair. You can use Color Extend Magnetics as well since you are looking for color protection, it would depend on your priority.

Thank you for your inquiry concerning gluten in Redken products. Most ingredients derived from grain sources are highly refined and retain no traces of gluten proteins. For less refined ingredients from natural sources, Redken has established strict limits on the level of potentially allergenic protein. Since individuals exhibit a wide range of sensitivities to these proteins, if you have any questions or concerns you should discuss with your medical care provider.
