Q:Hello, first let me say, I bouhgt my first Chi in 2005, and it just died this week! It worked amazing for 9 years, despite the few times I walked out the door and accidently left it on all day. Incredible product. my question being, is this the same or similar to the Chi GF 1001? the color doesnt change anything but the apperance correct? I just noticed there were no reviews and wanted to double check.
A:Yes, both this iron and CHI Ceramic Hairstyling Iron model GF1001 (Item #: 2091315) feature 1" ceramic tourmaline plates that reach a maximum temperature of 392 degrees F. There is a difference in the manufacturer's warranty; this iron comes with a 1-year manufacturer's warranty, while the GF1001 model comes with a 2-year manufacturer's warranty.
Q:Is this product less/more damaging that a regular straighter? Does it have heat settings or does it have a certain degrees it goes?
A:This product features ceramic plates with tourmaline, which makes it much less damaging to hair than a traditional (non-ceramic) flat iron. Ceramic plates distribute heat evenly for less passes, and glide over hair without tugging or pulling. Tourmaline uses ionic technology to infuse hair with moisture, reduce frizz, and add shine. This iron reaches a maximum temperature of 392 degrees F and does not feature heat settings.
Q:Should the light stay on or flicker when in use?
A:The LED light stays on as the iron heats up. When the iron reaches the maximum temperature, the LED light flickers and continues to flicker when in use.
