Comments about Hot Tools NexGen Curling Iron:

I was skeptical to purchase this product simply because I have never heard of it before. However, the long barrel and shortened clamp intrigued me and I just had to try it. This curling iron has nothing bad about it in my opinion. It curls my hair better and faster than any curling iron I have used before and it makes my hair shiny and smooth without making it look greasy. I have used it every day for two weeks now and have noticed that my hair actually looks healthier even though I use the highest heat.

Comments about Hot Tools NexGen Curling Iron:

I really like the long barrel on this curling iron. It makes curling my long hair easier. I like the adjustable temperature settings. Aside from it being much more expensive than my usual less-than-20 dollar curling irons, the only negative I can think of is the spring tension on the clip portion of the curling iron could be a bit stronger.

Heats up quick. Curls great. Its hefty and long so, you can get plenty of hair at a time. Best curler I've bought but, it is kinda pricey..

Comments about Hot Tools NexGen Curling Iron:

This curling iron is amazing with the extra long barrell and rotating end. I originally purchased the Sarah Potempo rotataing beachwaver, but it was difficult to use and did'nt give me control of the iron. I returned it for the long barrell NexGen and I'm so glad I did! This iron is great for medium to long hair. It gives a great beachwave look, but also curls as well. It has a rotating end that you control with one finger... genius! I wish I could purchase all the sizes! Even my 10yr old can use it on her extra long hair! Love it!

Comments about Hot Tools NexGen Curling Iron:

This is the BEST curling iron ever as far as design and gentleness on the hair. It glides through almost like a flatiron. The barrel is long enough to fit a lot of long hair and allows for styling loose waves or tighter curls or just smoothing out the hair. The tip of the barrel is substantial enough to avoid burns and to navigate the iron. The cord is so long and swivels allowing freedom of movement and doesn't confine you to an area or close vicinity of an outlet. However, I am on my second one dying within a year! I had my first one about 7 months when it died. This one, the replacement, I haven't even had two months yet. There is a decent warranty and Ulta easily accomodated my first exchange, but who needs the hassle of continually having to return an item and going to get ready and just running into an "oops, guess I can't curl my hair because my curling iron no longer works moment". Not sure if I am going to just get my money back this time or try a third go round with this iron. :(

Comments about Hot Tools NexGen Curling Iron:

I bought this for the long barrell for my hair which is midway down my back. Long barrell is great. Heats fast.

However, after owning 2-3 mos, it stopped working. Wouldn't turn on at all. If it did turn on, would turn off on its own without heating up. I got a replacement 2 weeks ago - still works so far. Also, minor details but hints at quality - there is a silver ring where the cord connects to the handle and this falls off and slips down the cord. Just annoying but doesn't affect function. I love the long barrell, hate that it stopped working. Hopefully the first one was just a lemon! For this price, it better last YEARS.

Does this curling iron have the type of plug that can be used with adapters for African countries or does the prong have one prong that is larger? I understand an old fashioned plug with both prongs the same size is what is needed for adapters for some African countries.

I noticed it has half of a clamp, why is it like that and how would you use it?

              A:

Hot Tools recently redesigned the NexGen Curling Iron with half of a clamp (really, it's a full-size clamp if the curling iron were regular size) when they noticed that the tension of the longer clamp was less at the end than that of a regular curling iron, so they shortened it. The iron is still used in the same exact way, as there is no downside to a shorter flipper. The shorter clamp also allows for use as a styling wand on the end when wrapping hair around it.
