While I love the feel and coverage of this foundation going on, I have very sensitive skin and this irritates my skin. It burns and causes redness. For someone with no skin sensitivities, I would highly recommend this product.

Comments about Philosophy Hope In A Jar Foundation Broad Spectrum SPF 20:

I use this foundation on top of the philosophy a-z bb cream. It is pricey but definitely worth it! It has light to medium coverage, stays put, and leaves the skin looking radiant and healthy. My skin actually looks better since switching to this foundation. I have oily combination skins and sometimes get dry patches, and this never settles in dry areas, and doesn't make my skin look shiny. It gives a natural healthy glow and doesn't break me out. The only bad thing is I have to use 4 pumps to get medium coverage. This is probably better for someone who has very minimal imperfections to cover. I still love it though, it doesn't look or feel like theres anything on my face even applying 4 pumps.

So I came into my local Ulta on the 28th of August.
I wanted to look at the benefit hello flawless foundation ,and well I'm very fair so the benefit ones were too dark even the lighter shades so the lady suggested philosophy hope in a jar shade 3. I tried it for the very first time today ,and I have to say it was awesome I applied it with a damp sponge the one by real techniques It looks like flawless the only thing is I wish it covered my dark circles better ,but I have concealer for that. So no big deal

I love this product. But I have really red undertones and I can just never get enough coverage with just the foundation. Is there another product that I can use to get rid of that? I use dermablend under my foundation right now but it's a little heavy so is there anything light weight? THANKS!

                    • Q:

This foundation was recommended for me because I have sensitive, acne prone NON-oilyskin. I LOVE this foundation, it provides natural coverage and gives my normal/dry skin a radiant glow, BUT I am in need of a primer to pair it with. I have enlarged pores I want to hide, but every single primer I have tried dries my skin out and makes my skin and foundation appear flaky and chalky. What primer would work best with this foundation without having to sacrifice the dewy glow I get from the foundation alone?

We recommend Philosophy Hope In A Jar A To Z Cream, which serves as a moisturizer, primer, and sunscreen in one easy step! It will help minimize the appearance of pores and features a sheer tint for a little added coverage when worn underneath foundation. It is oil-free, fragrance-free, and ideal for all skin types including sensitive, acne-prone skin. It features these skin beneficial ingredients:

lactic acid helps refine skin for a healthy looking, rosy glow on the outside
beta-glucan supports skin's natural defense system to nurture a glow on the inside
skin-loving minerals, antioxidants and spf 20 help protect skin against environmental attack

I'm doing some research as I am looking to buy new foundation or BB cream. I'm looking for a medium to full coverage product that's still light weight and airy. I want a dewey glow, but not too shiny as I have oily skin. Would you recommend the Philosophy Hope in a Jar foundation or the Miracle Worker foundation? Also, I've been using Tarte's BB cream in the light to medium shade, what shades are compatible in both the Hope and Miracle worker? Thank you!

If you're looking for a lightweight formula, we'd definitely recommend Hope in a Jar Foundation (choose shade #5 Light/Medium), which features a light-as-air formula. You can achieve medium, natural looking coverage with a demi-matte finish, and Hope in a Jar is excellent for those with oily skin due to its oil-free formula. For extra coverage where needed, use a concealer like Philosophy Miracle Worker Concealer over or under foundation.

I have very dry skin due to the current course of Accutane (Isotretinoin) that I'm on. How moisturizing is this foundation and will it exacerbate the few flaky patches on my face? Or is there a more hydrating foundation I should try?

                        A:

It’s always a good idea to consult your dermatologist when you are in the middle of a treatment. Since Accutane can be drying, you should always use a moisturizer underneath the foundation. The perfect oil-free combo would be to use Take A Deep Breath Energizing Oxygen Gel Cream (Item #: 2245234) and then Hope in a Jar Foundation to avoid exacerbating the dry spots on your face.
