Comments about Philosophy Hope In A Jar Foundation Broad Spectrum SPF 20:

I have *really* sensitive skin, so I often use the "trial and error" method of finding products/makeup that I'm satisfied with. I've been a BareMinerals user for years (since I have had such horrible experiences with liquid foundation), but have recently decided to try the liquid foundation again. After talking extensively with an Ulta associate about my needs/wants/dislikes, she suggested the Hope in a Jar foundation. I couldn't even tell she had put in on... it blended perfectly into my skin, and felt amazing. My sensitivity issue doesn't always manifest immediately, so she suggested I try the foundation for the rest of the afternoon before purchasing. Needless to say, I went back that evening to purchase it! When applied with the Real Techniques blending sponge, it goes on FLAWLESSLY and looks AMAZING.

It is definitely a lighter coverage foundation, and doesn't stay on ALL day, but that's probably why it didn't cause any adverse reactions on me. For the first time in years, I didn't feel like I wanted to scrape my liquid foundation off my face.

I love this stuff. I am a big p philosophy user and when I saw that they were coming out with make up I almost did a back flip. So I bought this and I LOVE it. It's light weight but gives really good coverage and seems like you can build it up if you wanted to which is perfect for me because I don't like heavy Cakey make up which this is not at All. It's super moisturizing and creamy. Again I love it. Thanks philosophy!

I'm one of "those" girls that search and search for products/makeup that make me smile. I buy monthly, sometimes keep, sometimes return. I have very very dry skin and I'm a picker, so I also have occasional blemishes and spots. It's really hard to find a nice foundation that hydrates and covers well. BB creams are great for good moist but usually doesn't cover well. I LOVE this product. It takes care of both my needs and makes my face feel amazing. It's light too. I'd recommend to anyone that has trouble with dry skin and problem areas you would like to cover up. This will be my foundation. Please NEVER ever discontinue. It's way too good of a product.

Comments about Philosophy Hope In A Jar Foundation Broad Spectrum SPF 20:

Very frustrated and disappointed with both Philosophy foundations. Returned Miracle Worker for Hope In A Jar Foundation which does not cover well, or stay on problem spots. The amount needed to cover my face seems to be excessive, the jar is emptying fast after only a few uses. After this bottle is used up I'm going back to my previous brand. The positive is that my sensitive skin did not break out and the color is a good match for skin tone.

        Great Product, but Pricey

        By Felicia

        from San Antonio, Tx

Comments about Philosophy Hope In A Jar Foundation Broad Spectrum SPF 20:

I have been a Bare Mineral user for 14 yrs now, I just wasn't satisfied with the coverage I was getting out of it anymore. ..so I decided it was time for a change. I went to Ulta and looked around for awhile. I had been seeing ads on this new foundation product by Philosophy and thought I'd give it a try. well I bought it on Sunday and have been using since. I have not had any break outs, my skin feels incredible, and even as I'm writing this review at 10:30pm, my face still looks refreshed. ( I applied the foundation @9:00am) I will say it's a little pricey for what I'm used to, but it seems like I'm only using 2 pumps per application. Which tells me this bottle may last awhile, considering the price. I don't think after using such a great product I could ever go back to Bare ...Bare..ummm. Bare whoo....ha...lol

My skin looks fabulous, and it smells so good. It does not cake or feel heavy. Cant say enough about this product...I highly recommend!

I love it! I am 41 but like it better than the Miracle foundation. It does have light coverage though. It has an awesome smell and my skin looks younger. It lasts all day and does not settle. The finish is natural, not oily at all. I just love putting it on in the morning.

I have very dry skin due to the current course of Accutane (Isotretinoin) that I'm on. How moisturizing is this foundation and will it exacerbate the few flaky patches on my face? Or is there a more hydrating foundation I should try?

                  A:

It’s always a good idea to consult your dermatologist when you are in the middle of a treatment. Since Accutane can be drying, you should always use a moisturizer underneath the foundation. The perfect oil-free combo would be to use Take A Deep Breath Energizing Oxygen Gel Cream (Item #: 2245234) and then Hope in a Jar Foundation to avoid exacerbating the dry spots on your face.

I am curious as to what undertone colors these foundations have. I'm looking specifically at the light and light to medium colors. Are they more yellow based or pink based?

All Philosophy foundations have beige undertones to neutralize red, yellow, or olive undertones and provide a flawless look to the skin.

                  A:

This product features an oil-free, light-as-air formula for all skin types. It has not undergone noncomedogenic testing.

In addition to providing a natural finish, it also provides broad spectrum SPF 20 sun protection, and this is why you see on the directions to "reapply every 2 hours". The updated FDA sun monograph requires manufacturers to include these best practices to help protect consumers from skin damage caused by excessive sun exposure.
