Comments about Mario Badescu Drying Mask:

I used this one time when I was having trouble with breakouts and boom- all of my acne was gone- and it didn't come back for a few days.. It definitely dries out my skin so now I only put it on problem areas but it works great for me. Only negative is that it smells awful.

Comments about Mario Badescu Drying Mask:

It's called drying mask for a reason. Love the product has a earth mud smell too it but some say it smells like chemicals but it smells like mud to me. Little goes a long ways. Very drying but has helped with my breakouts and the oiliness of my skin. Remember to lotion up afterwards cause it is drying like it's called. But 5 star!

I love everything from Mario Badescu...Except this! Although it appears to work, the smell is so noxious that it makes it almost unbearable. I actually started to feel a bit queasy after it was on for 10 minutes. It smells like diesel fuel. Might have to return

Comments about Mario Badescu Drying Mask:

I went into our local Ulta at the mall, and I was planning on buying maybe some Tea Tree oil facial mask, but I felt kinda different today and asked the sales lady what mask are good for clearing out breakouts and stress acne. She showed me a few different ones, and this one came up. I was kinda hesitant about getting it because I don't like buying new products, but I bought it and gave it a shot. Honestly the best thing I could have bought for my face. Yes it smells bad, but you get over it after a while, just wash your hands and put some moisturizer on and it'll go away. Buy this, you won't regret it and your skin will literally worship you for it.

Comments about Mario Badescu Drying Mask:

I bought this mask a while ago in hopes that it would clear my acne. Unfortunately, it has not. However, I notice it does visibly dry out oil and shrink the pores on my nose. I am also experimenting using it as a spot treatment overnight. I've tried it on a few pimples that I had tried to pop and they dried up within a couple days with this stuff on it. One downside is that if you have combination skin, this will definitely dry it out. Every is complaining about the smell but quite frankly I dont find it that bad. It bothered me at first but now I hardly notice it.

        Does what it's supposed to!

        By Muffin

Comments about Mario Badescu Drying Mask:

Had a extremely bad breakout sesh this month (yay) and I felt doomed. I use other MB products do I knew where to turn. I got a sample size (0.5 oz) of this guy in the "Flawless Skin" sample pack. It has an unpleasant smell, being sulphur-based. A little goes a long way. The first day, large parts of my face were covered with the mask. The 2nd day, the areas covered were smaller. By the 3rd treatment a few days later I was down to spot treating! No irritation, redness or pain after using it either. My lesions dried out, unfortunately leaving me with dry skin in the area. Gently grabbing the skin w/tweezers was ok. Overall a great product.

I have always had acne and tried using this for a while. it worked great but for some reason i stepped away to try other masks. since becoming pregnant i have had to give up a lot of my holy grail products because they are unsafe for the baby but with most of the line being baby safe i came back and couldn't get this on my face fast enough. within a use the small bumps were gone and after a week, using it about 3X, so is my cystic acne, the oiliness in my T-Zone and i've even used this on my chest to treat breakouts.

        • Q:

The instructions say it is best when used as a companion product to Mario Badescu's Healing & Soothing Mask. Do you recommend using the Healing & Soothing mask immediately after/the same day as the Drying Mask (to moisturize after 'drying')? Or would you recommend doing these masks on different days?

            A:

For best results, we recommend using the Drying Mask one day and using the Healing & Soothing Mask the following the day. You can repeat this pattern as necessary.

Mario Badescu Drying Mask is recommended to help dry out pimples and oil and to help clarify problematic, acne-prone skin. Mario Badescu Special Mask for Oily Skin is recommended to rebalance oily skin and control oil buildup that leads to clogged pores.

          • Staff Expert

            A:

The amount of time it will takes to see results depends on your active acne and your skin type. On average, we would expect results within 7-10 days.

If you are experiencing cystic acne, to maximize the effectiveness of this mask, we recommend using it with our Buffering Lotion. You should first apply the Buffering Lotion on the cystic acne spots and then apply the Drying Mask on top. Leave on for the recommended 10-15 minutes and rinse with warm water.

If your skin tends to be oily, we suggest you use the mask every other night on your entire face (avoiding the eye area) and alternate on your off night with the Healing and Soothing Mask to control irritation and redness caused by acne. This method of using the Drying Mask (for oily skin only!) will have you using a mask every single night until you get the acne under control, alternating between the Drying Mask and the Healing and Soothing Mask.

If you have combo or dry skin, we recommend you use the Drying Mask 2-3 times per week ONLY on the active acne spots. You should not put the Drying Mask on you entire face if you have any kind of dryness. You should only apply to the areas that are actively broken out.

This product came in the acne starter kit with the face wash, cucumber toner, and moisturizer which i use in the morning and at night. When is the best time to use this product so it doesn't interfere with the others? Should I use the mask and then treat my skin with the wash, toner and moisturizer?
          Asked on 12/31/2014 by NYCgirl

          1 answer

          • Staff Expert

            A:

We recommend using the products in the following order: Acne Face Wash, Special Cucumber Lotion, Drying Mask (evening only and for 15-20 min). Rinse mask off, dry face, apply Drying Cream to areas that have tiny bumps that do not surface, such as on your forehead and chin – no moisturizer at night if you are oily.

While you apply this product to your face does it dry and get your face stiff, or does it stay creamy
Asked on 9/14/2014 by m from California, US

          1 answer

          • Staff Expert

            A:

This mask contains Kaolin clay, which does stiffen as it dries. To prevent this effect, you can mist or dab your face lightly with toner during the 20 minutes you leave the mask on. Keeping the mask damp on the skin will prevent any stiff or tight feeling, and it won't compromise its efficacy.
