Comments about Mario Badescu Drying Mask:

I first bought this when i was 18 and still use it occasionally. This literally changed my skin from very oily to almost normal.
I would say use once a week as a mask or over areas that have a lot of acne like i did

It has a smell i disliked at first kinda like fresh clay but overtime i came to love it.

The product is a thick mud like texture.

The only bad thing i can say is that it tends to dry inside the jar.

Comments about Mario Badescu Drying Mask:

This is my favorite Mario Badescu product! I have tried many of their products for my oily, acne prone skin, and this product is by far the best one. If you have acne prone skin, you understand the annoying red pimples and blemishes. This mask reduced the redness of my entire face and reduces the size of current breakouts. I feel more confident in my skin after using this product and love the way my skin looks. I have seen many comments about the smell. Yeah, it does smell pretty bad the first couple of uses. But, after using this product for the recommended amount, you get used to the smell. The results outweigh the smell of the product.

Comments about Mario Badescu Drying Mask:

Works great on my oily skin. I love all of my Mario B products, and this is one at the top of my list for how effective it is. When other products might reduce the time of a break out, this seems to just get rid of them. I am prone to break outs, and this practically stops them in their tracks. Because of its effectiveness, I use it every other day with the buffering lotion under it and after the mask (their recommendation), and alternate this drying mask with the healing and soothing mask for soft, clear skin. Works on active white heads, ones that are beginning or post-popped white heads. It seems to pull the contents of the whitehead to the surface like a magnet, and the pimple is done for. I've noticed it works best with the buffering lotion under it. It does smell very strong and like sulfur, but for me, it is will worth it for clear skin. For black heads I used the silver powder, since this product only works on my white heads. My face feels amazing after using this mask, like it is truly cleaned out. I haven't had any over drying when using this with the buffering lotion, maybe that helps to avoid the drying out other commenters have experienced. Great acne product if you can stand the smell. I take the smell over the uncomfortable acne and pain i experience with acne. With the buffering lotion I don't experience the smell lingering afterwards.

I have only used it once, but it seems to help dry up my acne and start to clear up my skin. I am now going to start using it 2-3 times weekly as it says on the label because it will probably work more effectively.

Comments about Mario Badescu Drying Mask:

I decided to splurge and buy the Mario Badescu acne kit because I felt like treating myself. Unfortunately, I found out a few hours later this mask smells AWFUL. I was really hoping that after I put it on, I would get used to the spell, but I didn't. I have never used a product that smells this horrible. If it wasn't purchased with the kit, I would return it as fast as I could!

Comments about Mario Badescu Drying Mask:

I love all my Mario Badescu products and use nearly exclusively the entire combination line on my face. My skin has never looks better! I gave this a try since the old mask I used is no longer available. I got one whiff of this stuff and questioned whether or not I should even slather it on my face. I did. It was nearly impossible to keep it on the full amount of time. I wiped it off on my upper lip but that didn't help. Even after washing my face twice and using a toner I could still smell this stuff. It smells like gasoline! Even though this product wasn't cheap, I will be throwing it out! The smell is NOT worth it!

Way too drying. I always have an oil issue on my forehead and t zone so much that i have to blot my face at least 2 times a day. This was so drying. My skin felt so tight during the treatment. My skin afterwards was clean. I put lotion and it was fine. The product is fine... just not for me. I dont like how it feels on my skin.

Mario Badescu Drying Mask is recommended to help dry out pimples and oil and to help clarify problematic, acne-prone skin. Mario Badescu Special Mask for Oily Skin is recommended to rebalance oily skin and control oil buildup that leads to clogged pores.

                  A:

The amount of time it will takes to see results depends on your active acne and your skin type. On average, we would expect results within 7-10 days.

If you are experiencing cystic acne, to maximize the effectiveness of this mask, we recommend using it with our Buffering Lotion. You should first apply the Buffering Lotion on the cystic acne spots and then apply the Drying Mask on top. Leave on for the recommended 10-15 minutes and rinse with warm water.

If your skin tends to be oily, we suggest you use the mask every other night on your entire face (avoiding the eye area) and alternate on your off night with the Healing and Soothing Mask to control irritation and redness caused by acne. This method of using the Drying Mask (for oily skin only!) will have you using a mask every single night until you get the acne under control, alternating between the Drying Mask and the Healing and Soothing Mask.

If you have combo or dry skin, we recommend you use the Drying Mask 2-3 times per week ONLY on the active acne spots. You should not put the Drying Mask on you entire face if you have any kind of dryness. You should only apply to the areas that are actively broken out.

This product came in the acne starter kit with the face wash, cucumber toner, and moisturizer which i use in the morning and at night. When is the best time to use this product so it doesn't interfere with the others? Should I use the mask and then treat my skin with the wash, toner and moisturizer?

                  A:

We recommend using the products in the following order: Acne Face Wash, Special Cucumber Lotion, Drying Mask (evening only and for 15-20 min). Rinse mask off, dry face, apply Drying Cream to areas that have tiny bumps that do not surface, such as on your forehead and chin – no moisturizer at night if you are oily.

This mask contains Kaolin clay, which does stiffen as it dries. To prevent this effect, you can mist or dab your face lightly with toner during the 20 minutes you leave the mask on. Keeping the mask damp on the skin will prevent any stiff or tight feeling, and it won't compromise its efficacy.
