Comments about Mario Badescu Buffering Lotion:

I've had cystic acne for years and thought what the heck let's try it. I'm on a budget at $20 for a 1oz bottle I could only get this for now. It's very runny to apply with fingertips but once you put it on it stays in place. After using this for a week I can see a difference in the size of the cysts. It can dry out your skin a little. This may work better when used with the other products but for now I'll just keep using this.

Comments about Mario Badescu Buffering Lotion:

I woke up this morning with a couple buggers on my chin and knew what I had to do. Add this baby to my skincare routine at night before bed and within a couple days, it's boom! gone. I have combination skin which means I'm more susceptible to breakouts in my chin and forehead (the t-zone). I've lately been breaking out a lot on my chin. I normally would give it a 5 but, its a little smelly. I guess that means it's supposed to do what it does lol. I wash and tone my face like normal, shake WELL. It's the white stuff that settles on the bottom that's effective. I just add a couple drops to the back of my hand, stir it around and apply with my forefinger. Then, on top of that I would put a little moisturizer that's just as tough with the acne and gentle on the skin, and done. I would recommend this.

Able to kill those monsters from the deep

Comments about Mario Badescu Buffering Lotion:

I am in my early 50s and get some acne. You know that pimple that is going to be huge: you feel it suddenly appear from nowhere deep in your skin. It feels like a rock, and you can almost feel heat coming from it. You just know this diabolical monster is going to leave a scar. Mario's messy Buffering Lotion liquid (shake it well) does a fabulous job of stopping these whoppers before they become unmanageable. I qualify that with MOST of the time, and I've been using this for a number of years. Sometimes it's just too late. Shake it up, dribble it onto your fingers, and then massage into the area. Do this as many times as possible during the day (it doesn't leave visible residue that I notice), and it can actually stop that zit before it erupts, or worse, the zit just gets bigger and bigger under the skin. My 20-something son uses this as well and has had good luck with it. It's not that expensive, and a bottle lasts for a long time. Like I said, it's really messy, more a liquid than lotion, but I'm always surprised how well it has worked for me. It's not so much for the run-of-the-mill little bumpy pimples I sometimes get, but if I catch that big guy early enough, this lotion can be very effective.

Comments about Mario Badescu Buffering Lotion:

I bought this product for my teenage daughter who sometimes get a large acne cyst on her chin. The day we bought it she went home and applied the product. It had a strong alcohol smell but was easy to use. The next morning the cyst was smaller, less red and less painful. I only gave it 4 stars because the spot is still there after a full week.

This product is great. This is actually the second time that I have purchased this product. I put it on under my water proof MAC foundation, and it helps keep my skin from getting very oily. Also at the same time it minimizes cysts. I use it without makeup sometimes and by the next day that sucker has risen to the surface, and I am finally able to get rid of it.

Comments about Mario Badescu Buffering Lotion:

Good product, not going to change your life. I have severe acne - mostly deep cystic acne but a great deal of white and black heads, too. I have used countless topical things for my acne, particularly the deep, cystic acne. I have used everything from over the counter to prescription. This stuff has so far worked the best in my opinion. I've previously used the Clean & Clear Advantage Acne Spot Treatment and that did literally nothing. However, it is still not amazing but perhaps I am just too impatient. If I have a deep, cystic acne spot, I will put a good deal of this on it at night and it usually takes about 3-4 days for the bump to completely subside. I think it works the best of all of the topical things I have tried in the past but it still does take quite a bit of time to really "work." Also, beware that it is VERY drying. I have EXTREMELY oily skin so for a product to dry even my intensely oily skin is a big deal. I think that is just the product working, though.

Mario Badescu Buffering Lotion is designed as a spot treatment for combination/oily skin types. If you have extremely sensitive skin and usually react to products that help dry out blemishes, we would not recommend use.

I have been using the buffering lotion as an on-the-spot treatment for cysts, but is there anything I could use on my face to prevent cystic acne breakouts in the first place?

If you aren't extremely oily or acne prone, you should try The Regimen Kit Combination/Oily. If you suffer from acne all over and have very oily skin - Acne Starter Kit is a better option for you. You can also pair the Buffering Lotion with our Drying Mask . Apply the Buffering Lotion to the areas of concern and immediately apply the Drying Mask as instructed. Immediately re-apply the Buffering Lotion after removing the mask for an extra boost in fighting off cystic acne.

Mario Badescu Buffering Lotion is specifically designed to treat large, deep, cystic acne. The Drying Lotion is intended for blemishes that have already come to the surface. Which to use depends on the type of acne you're experiencing. We hope this extra info helps!

You can use the Buffering Lotion on your back and shoulders, as you would on your face. After cleansing, shake well and apply lotion using fingertips, concentrating on blemishes. Use every evening, 1-2 drops on affected areas.
