Comments about Color Oops Hair Color Remover:

I thought I read the whole box before purchasing, but in small print on the side it says not for pink, purple, blue etc... Needless to say, I was trying to remove "Splat Raspberry Red" from sections of my hair. It took some of the color out, but of course it was destined to fail. I wish it was printed clearer on the box what its uses are. It did smell bad, but most hair color does.

Comments about Color Oops Hair Color Remover:

I have naturally dirty blonde hair and decided I'd like to try going dark so I used an auburn color which turned BRIGHT red, like a clown, on my hair. Thankfully it calmed down after a few washes but after three weeks it was still very red and I just wanted my own hair back. So it had been three weeks since my red dye and I was skeptical... but I tried OOPS and followed the exact directions--leaving on the bonnet for 20 minutes and rinsing the full amount of time. It WORKED! My hair is back to the dirty blonde shade it was before I dyed it. It might have a VERY VERY slight tinge of the red (like a very faint strawberry blonde) but hardly noticeable and it's actually a very pretty color. If I ever make a hair mistake again, I'll trust this product.

Comments about Color Oops Hair Color Remover:

To start off, I think it's important to know that I had been using a certain hair color for three years straight. It was a ruby red, which is obviously too dark for me to recolor with reddish blonde without help. I researched a bit about bleaching but it all seemed too much for my dry hair. Then I looked at color removal and found that Color Oops had the best ratings out of the other options and it was found to be gentler in hair than bleach.

I think I was very realistic going into this. I took both good and bad reviews very seriously. I knew it would smell - and it does. Like sulfur and burnt rubber. Even the patch test left a smell that stayed. But it is not terribly potent, just annoying. I used two bottles without any reactions. I also knew it would not return my hair to my natural color - and it doesn't. It removes the unnatural pigments from dye and leaves what's underneath which has already been lightened by the developer from the dye. I naturally have dirty blonde hair, this made it a reddish/yellowish blonde that was lighter than my natural shade. This is where the one star gets left out, I don't think it should be advertised that way.

So here's some answers to major questions that I couldn't find answered on other reviews. It DOES work on dye that's been treated over and over. It works very well, in fact. It has a very liquidy texture, so be careful. I'd also get two boxes for thick hair (like mine). It will NOT put your hair back to its natural shade but it will put it back to a state where you can dye it again. It doesn't lighten natural hair (my roots didn't lighten at all). It isn't as harsh as bleach (which is why I put gentle) but it will dry your hair out a bit so I HIGHLY suggest using a deep conditioner after using Color Oops and leaving it in for a while.

Lastly, the complaint about it being time consuming doesn't make sense to me. You're removing permanent dye from your hair, you expect it to take five minutes? The instructions have you rinse your hair out quite a few times, all of which are necessary to make sure the pigment stays out.

Overall, this worked way better than I hoped for and did what I needed it to do. It isn't a magic undo button, but if you follow the instructions, you'll get great results to help you change shades.

Comments about Color Oops Hair Color Remover:

I've used this product three or four times by now (not all at once!) And each time my hair goes back to its natural dirty blonde color, with very minimal damage to my hair. The product does stink a while but it's worth it considering how well it works.

Comments about Color Oops Hair Color Remover:

Ironically this review is attached to the Salon's site that I went to 2 days ago to get color and highlights. I am a medium brunette with some graying around my face. Wish I never did the color. I asked the stylist if I could just get highlights. She strongly recommended color too. End result - VERY DARK, ALMOST BLACK hair with orange highlights!!!! It wasn't til later that I realized how bad I looked. So researched color remover products and came up Color Oops. It works as directed. Now at least I am back to my nice brown. Still have the orangish highlights, which don't look nearly as bad with lighter hair. In a couple of days I may tone them down with light brown semi-permanent. Side note: The Salon I went to does offer semi-permanent color. If I ever go there again, maybe I will ask for that. In the meantime, store bought really does a good job and I wasted $70 on their lousy permanent stuff.

Comments about Color Oops Hair Color Remover:

I've used Color Oops a couple of times, and always with great results. I get bored easily, so I frequently change my hair color very drastically - going from blonde to blue-black, to a vibrant red, back to black, back to blonde in the same year. I've used this product twice - once on blue-black hair that had been on for about 4 months, and just recently on flaming red hair that I had just applied after being blonde for 3 months. Both times it did the trick and removed the color without damaging my hair. When I used it on black, it didn't remove all of the color, but it did bring it up to a very manageable pale brown. On the flaming red (over top of blonde) it removed 99% of it - way more than I expected, so that my hair was actually a lighter golden blonde when I was done than it had been before I put the red on.

Yes, it smells bad - like a perm. Yes, it takes a long time to rinse out. But if you DON'T take all the time to rinse it, you will NOT get the results you want. Do it. Spend the time. It's worth it.

I don't know why people are saying it doesn't work unless you use it the same day you put the color on - that's totally not true. I took blue-black off my hair after it had been on for MONTHS, including re-dye touch-ups. It DOES work, if you follow the directions INCLUDING the long rinse.

I'm sure I'll need it again in the future, because I can't seem to keep from messing with my hair. Thanks, Color Oops! :)

Comments about Color Oops Hair Color Remover:

My hair was a dark red , when I used color oops it made it a dark honey blonde!!!! And btw I'm Italian and I have very dark eyebrows so it was horrible. The smell is PUTRID , it took me 6 weeks to get the smell out of my hair it was so embarrassing. When I was putting it in my hair I couldn't stand it so I leaned over the toilet and puked the smell was that bad. Honestly if you have a color accident just go to the salon it's worth the money this product it absolutely not worth a penny.

Comments about Color Oops Hair Color Remover:

I honestly can't think of a single thing I liked about this product. I was so desperate to go back to the original color of my hair and it wasn't even that far away from it, but of course I do everything I'm supposed to do with this product including rinsing for a long time since I do have so what thicker hair. My hair is naturally bright blonde and it left incredibly bright roots on my hair. Total waste off afternoon and waste of my money. Now I'm just going to have to have a professional fix it, but I can't go anywhere yet because I will damage my hair too much. So thank you "oops."

Oops! Don't hesitate to use this to strip your hair of any color. I mistakenly used a very dark red and this took it completely out! With no harsh chemicals it didn't destroy my hair and I was able to recolor immediately. It smells kinda stinky , but if you need it it's worth it! Hope I don't have to use it again, but it's great to know its available if I need it!
