Comments about Color Oops Hair Color Remover:

My original hair color is light blonde and for years I was coloring my hair so it would have a strawberry blonde look. This year I decided to start doing the coloring on my own which was working out wonderfully UNTIL! I got this brilliant idea to get what was suppose to be a light blonde/brown shade. I followed the instructions and when it was all said and done I was BROWN with a little bit of red highlights. I actually scared myself when I looked into the mirror. When my husband came home he didn't even say anything until I did then he said he didn't like it he wanted me to go back to blonde. I thought I was doomed until I searched the wonderful, lifesaving web and found this product. I followed the instructions and 20 minutes later I am ME. My hair is fine and a little shorter than shoulder length so I didn't rinse it out for 20 minutes I only did 10 minutes and had wonderful results. I am so happy and would definately recommend this product.

Comments about Color Oops Hair Color Remover:

I am a blonde and have used this on two horrible occasions. The first time I used a non-permanent color and it turned my hair bright red, it came out without any issues. The second time I used a permanent hair color and it turned my hair bright purple. I was afraid since it was permanent that it wouldn't work as well.. but it did! Can't even tell that I had purple in my hair!

So I dyed my hair red about 3 months ago it was a velvet red. My roots are growing in and I'm naturally dirty blond and it looks REALLY bad. I decided I wanted to try to remove the color. It has faded so it is like a orange color. I bought 2 boxes just in case and so I applied the first box. I followed all the directions. the next once my hair dried the only thing it did was fade my tips. I was disappointed the box did mention with long and thick hair use 2 boxes and that's what I have so next day I applied the next box. Exactly how it described but this time my sister did it. When it dried it looked the same. I am very disappointed.

Comments about Color Oops Hair Color Remover:

One day about 4 months ago, I woke up and thought, "I want to dye my hair red." Well, I forgot that I had died my hair dark brown about 2 months prior (my hair is naturally dark brown, but I dyed over my ombre), so it came out super uneven. However, I was determined to have red hair. 5 dye jobs later, and I start to realize how bad it looks. I researched Color Oops, and then immediately went to pick some up.

Application: This stuff is MESSY. I definitely recommend using a towel around your neck and doing this over the sink. I found that it applies best if you pour some into your hand and then work it into your hair. For some reason, it likes to slide right off dry hair, so applying it straight onto your hair will lead to an even bigger mess.

Results: Right when I took off the cap, I noticed a difference. Absolutely NO RED in my hair, even before any rinsing, so I was extremely impressed and excited. After a very long shower (RINSE RINSE RINSE!!!), I noticed that my hair had become an orange-ish, blonde-ish, golden brown all over. Considering I used a 30 volume developer with the red I had dyed it (caused it to lighten my hair), this was to be expected. I am very pleased with this product, as it not only removed layers upon layers of red dye, but also the dark brown I had had underneath.

Smell: Yes, it smells awful. Definitely open a window and turn on a fan during application. It wasn't so much irritating my nose as it was making me cough. I feel that it smelled worse when I was rinsing it off in the shower. The smell stays for a few washes afterwards, so just be warned that you will smell like rotten eggs for a few days.

          [Insert Personal Rambling Here]

I'm 16 currently, and have been dying my hair since I was 14. My hair's been through hell and I've done so many bad things to it. The last major hair change I did on my own was back in March, where I bleached the top half of my hair to a golden blonde (I didn't use toner, I liked the golden colour of it) and left the rest of my hair its natural red. A couple of days ago, I went to the salon to get my roots bleached, and the remaining natural hair bleached as well. The stylist did as I asked and such, then we were discussing dyes... I asked about what silver dyes they had. She put one on my head, saying it would be like a strong toner.

It was a disaster. My hair came out grey instead of silver, and in the back where my hair was still a little bit darker than what was on top, it almost looked like a dingy, pale copper. It was gross looking. And after shampooing it twice after having high hopes of it fading quickly like the stylist told me, it had only faded slightly.

I got Color Oops today at Walmart out of desperation, and I was pleasantly surprised with the results. While the product was quite messy (it almost exploded when I opened it after shaking it for 30 seconds), and smelled like something had died in it (I had to put some essential oil in my hair after my shower even after shampooing and rinsing), the product did exactly what it was advertised to do, and it was easy to use. My hair is now back to the bleached blonde colour it was before she put that ghastly grey dye on it. My hair's short, above my shoulders, and quite thick, and I was able to saturate my hair with half a bottle (but used the whole bottle anyway). It is pretty dry, but I didn't use a deep conditioner in the shower, just my regular one, so next time I shower, I'll put a mask on my hair and re-hydrate it, so it isn't a big deal, but if your hair is EXTREMELY damaged, then proceed with caution.

All in all, I loved the product, but be prepared for a mess to clean up afterwards and for you to have to air out your bathroom. It does the job, and it does the job well, but it has some flaws, hence why it has 4 instead of 5 stars.

I thought I read the whole box before purchasing, but in small print on the side it says not for pink, purple, blue etc... Needless to say, I was trying to remove "Splat Raspberry Red" from sections of my hair. It took some of the color out, but of course it was destined to fail. I wish it was printed clearer on the box what its uses are. It did smell bad, but most hair color does.

Comments about Color Oops Hair Color Remover:

I have naturally dirty blonde hair and decided I'd like to try going dark so I used an auburn color which turned BRIGHT red, like a clown, on my hair. Thankfully it calmed down after a few washes but after three weeks it was still very red and I just wanted my own hair back. So it had been three weeks since my red dye and I was skeptical... but I tried OOPS and followed the exact directions--leaving on the bonnet for 20 minutes and rinsing the full amount of time. It WORKED! My hair is back to the dirty blonde shade it was before I dyed it. It might have a VERY VERY slight tinge of the red (like a very faint strawberry blonde) but hardly noticeable and it's actually a very pretty color. If I ever make a hair mistake again, I'll trust this product.

Comments about Color Oops Hair Color Remover:

To start off, I think it's important to know that I had been using a certain hair color for three years straight. It was a ruby red, which is obviously too dark for me to recolor with reddish blonde without help. I researched a bit about bleaching but it all seemed too much for my dry hair. Then I looked at color removal and found that Color Oops had the best ratings out of the other options and it was found to be gentler in hair than bleach.

I think I was very realistic going into this. I took both good and bad reviews very seriously. I knew it would smell - and it does. Like sulfur and burnt rubber. Even the patch test left a smell that stayed. But it is not terribly potent, just annoying. I used two bottles without any reactions. I also knew it would not return my hair to my natural color - and it doesn't. It removes the unnatural pigments from dye and leaves what's underneath which has already been lightened by the developer from the dye. I naturally have dirty blonde hair, this made it a reddish/yellowish blonde that was lighter than my natural shade. This is where the one star gets left out, I don't think it should be advertised that way.

So here's some answers to major questions that I couldn't find answered on other reviews. It DOES work on dye that's been treated over and over. It works very well, in fact. It has a very liquidy texture, so be careful. I'd also get two boxes for thick hair (like mine). It will NOT put your hair back to its natural shade but it will put it back to a state where you can dye it again. It doesn't lighten natural hair (my roots didn't lighten at all). It isn't as harsh as bleach (which is why I put gentle) but it will dry your hair out a bit so I HIGHLY suggest using a deep conditioner after using Color Oops and leaving it in for a while.

Lastly, the complaint about it being time consuming doesn't make sense to me. You're removing permanent dye from your hair, you expect it to take five minutes? The instructions have you rinse your hair out quite a few times, all of which are necessary to make sure the pigment stays out.

Overall, this worked way better than I hoped for and did what I needed it to do. It isn't a magic undo button, but if you follow the instructions, you'll get great results to help you change shades.
