Comments about Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge:

This little sponge is superior to its more expensive cousin in the fact that it has a better shape and its a fraction of the price. Yes, it stains, but who cares? It gets the job done beautifully. Remember to dampen the sponge and squeeze out excess water for a flawless finish. Love all Real Techniques tools & Sam & Nic!!!

I bought this and now I can't (and won't) apply my makeup without it. The shape is better than the traditional beauty blender. I now have multiples of these and will get more.

The only thing I don't like about this sponge is that it discolored after the first wash & the shape deformed a bit. Other than that it's a great inexpensive sponge. So soft & blends any product effortlessly

                            A:

How often the Miracle Complexion Sponge should be washed depends on how often you use it and how much product is applied with it. A good rule of thumb is to wash it, on average, approximately every two weeks. Similar to washing your makeup brushes, a brush shampoo or mild hair shampoo is the best way to thoroughly clean the sponge. If the sponge is being used heavily, wash it every week.

We recommend storing the sponge in an area where it will have the opportunity to fully dry out such as a bar soap holder or small dish. You may also place it on a dry washcloth or small (dry) towel. The sponge is best maintained by allowing it air dry.

                            A:

While the Miracle Complexion Sponge can be used with lighter lotions (BB/CC Creams or lighter facial moisturizers, etc.), it was designed to be used with foundations, primarily. Since lotions usually have a heavier consistency, those who use them in that way may find that the sponge may need to be replaced much more often and/or it may not perform as well as it should after several lotion uses. For that reason, we would recommend that it's used with foundations, rather than lotions.

I know that the Beauty Blender is directed to be used damp, and this tool is very similar to the BB. However, I have read from previous questions that this sponge can be used damp or dry, so my question is which have you found works better, wet or dry??? Or does it depend on the type of product that is being used?? Like for example powder vs liquid.

"As with most of our items in the Real Techniques line, the 'beauty' is that you can use these however you like best! If you like to use the Miracle Complexion Sponge dry with liquid, go for it! Wet with powder -- awesome! It does really depend on the look you’re going for and the product(s) you’re using. The feedback we get most often on this fabulous item is that many of our customers like to use it damp with liquid foundation. However you use it, if you love it (and clean it regularly), we can’t ask for much more!"

This depends on how frequently you use the sponge. If you use it every day and/or wear a lot of foundation/concealer/powder, you should replace minimally every 30-45 days. If you are lighter makeup wearer and/or use the sponge 3-5 times a week, you can extend that time out to every 45-60 days.
