Comments about Sally Hansen Salon Gel Polish Basic Refill Kit:

This should be in every guitar player's arsenal. Easier to apply than acrylics and just as strong.

I'm a male guitar player and have used fake nails on one hand for fingerpicking for a long time due to my relatively weak natural nails. I got tired of going to a salon all the time so I learned to do my own. This is easy enough to apply at home and I can touch up my nails any time I need to.

For my guitar manicure I use two coats of each the base and top coat instead of just one. This allows me to build up my nails and make them strong enough to endure the repeated punishment dealt to them by the strings of the guitar. They sound great and are discreet enough so that nobody notices them unless I point them out.

It does take a bit of practice and patience to apply, and depending on how much you punish your nails they can start to lift around the edges. Of course, just tack them down with some thin nail glue or krazy glue if they start pulling up and you're good to go again.

Strong, simple, and much more cost effective than going to the nail salon every two weeks.
