The brush is super thick, but the bristles are really short which means that the brush is coated with a really thick coat of mascara. This stuff was a mess. It was so thick that it clumped my lashes terribly and I had to redo my eye makeup. The brush needs way longer bristles.

I have spent a small fortune on both black and brown mascaras, both water proof and not water proof, expensive and drugstore-types. All of them irritated my eyes. Finally, I bought this mascara in blue (not water proof) and I am so happy because there is not a twinge of eye irritation. For me, there's no added volume but I have very sparse eye lashes to start with so I can't blame it on the product - but just to be temperamental I have deducted one lippie.

I always use Maybelline mascara. This is the first time I've been disappointed. The brush just doesn't work for me. It makes my lashes clump together. I will say the color and coverage are one of the best, but it's just too difficult to apply due to the clumping. I also had problems with flaking.

I was trying to replace an earlier favorite from Maybelline and don't know if it is no longer available, or just not available at this store. I have a dry eye condition, and the flaking (after a long day) is very uncomfortable. This mascara, although a bit difficult to remove from my lashes, was extremely difficult to remove from the skin surrounding my eyes.
