Comments about Urban Decay Cosmetics Naked Basics:

I live the product itself. The packaging, though, is another story. I feel that the compact case is a hassle to open every time I use it. And that certainly is often, because the shadows are just gorgeous, natural and so pigmented!

My aunt got this pallete for me for Christmas. As soon as I ran out I had to get another one. This pallete is perfect for day, night, and I LOVE it! It is so beautiful with my winged eyeliner. With a little bit of eyeshadow primer, it lasts all day long.

        Great travel palette

        By K.H.

        from VABCH

Comments about Urban Decay Cosmetics Naked Basics:

I was happy to see Urban Decay take a detour from their shimmery Naked palettes to a more matte option. I can create anything from a no-makeup look to a full smokey eye with this; with liner and eyebrows. It does have one shimmery shade that works as a nice highlight. The shadows are pigmented, finely milled, buttery and easy to blend. I haven't had a need for any other shadows since I purchased this; it's so versatile. Great compact size makes it easy to travel with. Around $5 for each shadow in the palette and they last a long time. Definitely will be repurchasing when I hit pan.

I know Urban Decay has put out a few more naked palettes but for those of us who don't go crazy with eye shadow this palette is just enough. The neutral colors matte my eyes and I also this palette to fill in and highlight my brows. Even though the colors are small this product has lasted be more than six months with daily use and I'll probably get another six months more out of it!

                • Q:

I have very fair skin (burns easily), green eyes, and light brown hair that is quickly turning white, but which I have not colored as it is a very white white (I am waiting for it all to come in so I can add violet streaks!).

Would you recommend the Naked Basics kit or the Naked 2 Basics? I am not sure what the best set would be.

                  Thank you!

Absolutely, especially if you're seeking more matte shadows! The following shades are exclusive to this palette and are different from any shade within Naked 2:

                    Venus (soft, off-white demi-matte)
                    Naked2 (rosy taupe matte)
                    Faint (warm, dusty brown matte)
                    Crave (deepest, darkest brown/black matte)
Walk of Shame (very light pinky nude matte)

I brought naked 3. I love the colors, but when I apply the shadow it I realize some has fallen on my cheeks. I have shine on my cheeks. How can I apply the shadow without that happening?

Smooth a medium shade like Foxy, W.O.S., or Naked 2 onto your eyelid from the lash line up to eye crease. Blend a darker shade like Faint or Crave (more dramatic) into the crease. Use light shade Venus to highlight the brow bone and the inner corners of the eyes.

Which type of eye shadow would be best for women in their 40s and 50s? Would powders or cream shadows be more flattering? Also, matte or shimmer? I love the Naked Basics colors, but don't want to look washed out. Is there a tutorial on how to apply? I want to look naked/polished, just not too made up - - - naked face look but better please! Thanks for your help!

p.s. I have good skin and minimal facial lines, but don't want to accentuate any sign of aging. ;)

                    A:

We recommend applying Urban Decay Anti-Aging Eyeshadow Primer Potion (Item #: 2260927) prior to eye shadow to minimize the appearance of wrinkles in 8 weeks while providing a silky smooth feel and extending the wear and vibrancy of your eye shadow to 24 hours! Primer Potion can be used with powder or cream formula shadows for crease-free wear. We would recommend matte and subtle shimmer shades.

The shades in this palette are so neutral, blendable, and universally flattering that you really can't go wrong with application! If you visit your nearest ULTA store, we would be happy to give you some application tips in person, if you prefer!
