Ask a Question
Richer than other mattes, the color goes on with a smooth, luxe finish (never chalky or powdery). There's even one demi-matte shade, Venus, which has the tiniest touch of satin - perfect for highlighting and adding dimension. While this palette is small, Urban Decay loaded it with full-size shadow pans, just like their other Naked palettes. Every shade features their Pigment Infusion System, a vehicle for color that holds tightly to pigment and gives the formula its glide. The proprietary blend of ingredients allows color to weave itself through the eye shadow formula. What does all that mean? Insane color payout. Color that stays on your lids. Sparkle that doesn't fall. And velvety, suede-like smoothness and blendability. It all comes in a sleek compact (embossed with a pretty, metallic "NAKED" on the front) that has a slight sheen and a suede-like feel that practically begs to be touched. (Hello...how gorgeous will THAT look coming out of your bag?!) Best of all, the slim design is perfect for travel - so you'll never have to be without these must-have shades.

Not very impressed with the pigmentation in the darker colors very hard to get it to show. I would expect at the price I paid for this that it would be a higher quality

This is my first Urban Decay eyeshadow product. I love their lipsticks and now really like their eyeshadows. This does not powder much so you don't feel like much of it goes wasted when getting it onto the brush.

Comments about Urban Decay Cosmetics Naked Basics:

I bought this palette a good year and a half ago when I first started getting more into make up. I figured it was a well known name brand and a great assortment of neutrals that could easily create several eye looks. Overall, I love it! The shadows are not only pigmented, but they are so smooth and easy to blend. I also love that they are all matte with the exception of Venus which is perfect for a brow bone and inner corner highlight, (I typically strayed away from the Naked palettes as I dislike all the shimmery shades). You can create more looks than you would think at first glance with this. The ONLY con that comes to mind is it can be very messy. Crave (the beautiful black shade) has crumbled on me so much that I'm extremely hesitant to travel with the palette despite it being the perfect travel size. I feel like over half the product has been wasted due to breaking in the palette. Regardless, I would still recommend this staple palette to anyone looking for good quality, neutral matte shades as well as make up novices.

I have only used inexpensive eye shadows. I wanted to see the difference in quality with Urban Decay, since I heard it was a high quality, popular brand. I picked a very neutral, natural palette. I saw absolutely no difference in quality between UD and muy usual Maybeline. Definitely not worth the money! Returning it.

I use this palette every day! I love the matte shades for any type of occasion. I really mainly use the two browner shades for filling in my brows. It is a life saver for days that I just need a go to easy look. It looks natural and not too forced, but you can easily glam it up! Score!

The Naked Basics is a great everyday eyeshadow palette and can be used to get endless looks ranging from natural to smoky. With daily use and equal favoring of all shades, Naked Basics will last at least a year. For most Basics lovers, it lasts even longer!

Are these palettes/shadows dermatologist and ophthalmologist tested?

                A:

UD never tests for the "dermatologist tested" claim nor use ophthalmologist tested. However, UD does perform an ocular study for eye irritation on all products that are for eye or face use.

            • Q:

I have very fair skin (burns easily), green eyes, and light brown hair that is quickly turning white, but which I have not colored as it is a very white white (I am waiting for it all to come in so I can add violet streaks!).

Would you recommend the Naked Basics kit or the Naked 2 Basics? I am not sure what the best set would be.

              Thank you!

The shades in Naked2 Basics are slightly cooler toned (taupe-hued) than those in the original Naked Basics palette. All shades in both palettes are matte and neutral, so they work perfectly for all complexions! We suggest testing both palettes at your nearest ULTA store:
