Comments about Real Techniques Expert Face Brush:

I've been using this brush for almost two months with this foundation and I love it! I switched from using my fingers to the brush because of the tugging on my skin - the Expert Face brush is dense and soft so it never tugs (it actually feels so lovely on the face, I could stand there and buff for hours). I also have to use less product for better coverage, which is nice especially with this Becca foundation (great skin texture when you use the "right" amount; bumpy, icky texture when you use too much). It's big enough for a foundation brush, but small enough (and shaped very well) to get around the nose, under the eyes, etc. Speaking of eyes - it is also a terrific concealer brush, blending blush and highlighting brush. I just ordered my second one!

        Streaky

Comments about Real Techniques Expert Face Brush:

Some people raved about this brush on YouTube, except one person mentioned it caused streaks when applying liquid foundation, so I decided to go see it for myself. I was hesitant to buy it when I saw that the brush hairs were were dented in so that the overall fullness is more of an oval shape as opposed to a round shape. But the packaging said it was a best seller so I was sold on trying it. I sort of regret buying it. I could see streaks in my foundation when using a buffing application, but it was easily remedied by a tapping motion of my brush on my face. It's an ok buy, I could live with it but now I was to trying the buffing brush that comes in a set.

This brush is so soft and applies my foundation beautifully. I did have some issues with it shedding but it wasn't too bad. I've never had this problem with their other brushes so I'm guessing it won't last. It stands up there with my Lancome and Chanel brushes!

This brush performed pretty much as expected- no disappointments so far! I use it to buff in cream foundation and it does a nice job. The only con is that itsd too big to get around the nose & under eye areas. It would be cool if the other end of the brush was a smaller version to get in these areas.

                      Hi Neesha,

That's a good question. I love this Expert Face Brush so much and use it for a number of things (foundation, contouring, etc). I actually would point you towards two other brushes, though, for bronzer. I think you need a brush which has bristles that are a little less dense.

The first one is our Real Techniques Powder Brush, found here: http://www.ulta.com/ulta/browse/productDetail.jsp?productId=xlsImpprod3220077. The bristles are more plush and allows you to get a gentle sweep of bronzer to give you that sun-kissed (but not over-made-up) look.

My personal favorite for applying bronzer is our Bold Metals Arched Powder brush, which you can find here: http://www.ulta.com/ulta/browse/productDetail.jsp?productId=xlsImpprod11831007. It's our highest quality brush & bristle combo, and it's a bit flatter than the Original Collection Powder Brush I just mentioned. That enables me to get a nice sweep of bronzer. Plus, these are our softest bristles ever, so the brush is absolutely luxurious to use!

                      Hope that helps!

                      Hi Neesha,

The Expert Face Brush is one of my most favorite brushes, simply because you can do so many things with it! Foundation, blush, contour, etc! But, I think, if you're going for a sun-kissed look with a bronzer, you would be better off using a brush that has a fuller head and is a little less dense & concentrated that the Expert Face brush.

Here are two that I would recommend:

                      1) our Real Techniques Powder Brush: http://www.ulta.com/ulta/browse/productDetail.jsp?productId=xlsImpprod3220077

                      2) our Bold Metals Arched Powder Brush: http://www.ulta.com/ulta/browse/productDetail.jsp?productId=xlsImpprod11831007

I actually love the Bold Metals brush specifically for bronzer because it has our highest quality bristles to date and is so soft and light that it gives me the exact look I'm going for.

                      Thanks - hope that helps!

How long can you use this brush until it needs to be replaced ?
                    Asked on 4/9/2016 by makeupsparkles

                    1 answer

                    • Brand Expert

                      A:

                      Hi makeupsparkles,

That's a great question, and it really does depend on how much you use your brush on a daily basis, and how well you take care of it (cleaning, storage, etc).

If you do use your brush quite a bit (at least every day), we would probably recommend replacing it every 6mos to a year to get the best performance, results and look that you want.

Make sure that you are cleaning your brushes on a somewhat regular basis, though. Once a week or once every two weeks, at least. We have come out with a great new cleansing system to help you with this.

We have developed a Brush Cleansing Palette (which you can find here: http://www.ulta.com/ulta/browse/productDetail.jsp?productId=xlsImpprod13731029&skuId=2297111&_requestid=972847). This was specifically designed to clean brush heads and has multi-textured surfaces to clean different brushes and bristles. It's a gentler way to get a good clean.

We also have a Deep Cleansing Gel that was formulated just for the type of bristles on these brushes. You can find that here: http://www.ulta.com/ulta/browse/productDetail.jsp?productId=xlsImpprod13121017

After you've washed your brushes, make sure you squeeze any excess moisture out of the bristles, and leave them to dry at an angle, with the brush head facing down. That eliminates any water sitting in the ferrule, which could cause your brush bristles to shed.

Thanks so much and I hope that helped!

                      Hi Desii,

Thanks for your question - it's a good one! This Expert Face Brush can be used for just about anything foundation-related, it's just such an awesome multi-tasker, but for a color correcting product, I would actually point you to our Stippling Brush. You can find it on Ulta.com here:

                      http://www.ulta.com/ulta/browse/productDetail.jsp?productId=xlsImpprod3220083

The Stippling Brush has bristles that are a little less dense than the Expert Face Brush, which makes for an ideal application of a lighter-type cream (like a CC cream).

And, no matter what kind of foundation product you're using, make sure you're cleansing your brushes on a somewhat regular bases (1x/week at least). We have a great new gel cleanser that is formulated specifically for brushes. You can get that on Ulta.com here:

                      http://www.ulta.com/ulta/browse/productDetail.jsp?productId=xlsImpprod13121017

                      HI Anna -

Great question! My answer would be both! :)

The great thing about the Real Techniques brushes is that they are meant to all have more than one use, and in this case, truly either brush would work well for you in terms of applying a matte liquid foundation.

If I have to choose, I would recommend the Expert Face Brush every so slightly over the Stippling, and that truly is just personal preference. Both are going to blend and apply beautifully and work the product in to your face (rather than work it deep into the bristles of your brush). But I love the density of the Expert Face Brush and find it just a bit easier to cover all areas of my face.

                      Hope that helps!

Its ultra firm bristles and broad brush head design ensure smooth and even application on any skin type! For best results, moisturize prior to makeup application. Exfoliating your skin 1-2x weekly can also help to eliminate any flaky dryness so that your makeup applies more smoothly and evenly. Enjoy!

This brush is best for all-over application and blending of foundation, though it can be used to apply and blend blush and bronzer to broad areas of the face such as the apples of the cheeks or to contour the cheek bones.

We also suggest Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge, which can be used in endless versatile ways including concealing and contouring:
