This gel melts into my hair immediately as if there's nothing in it, but as my hair dries I can feel the "rubbery" spring in it. This does not get crunchy, and as long as it is scrunched out very gently it doesn't cause too much frizz. This can be a little drying if used too often, but the hold is really good, and I love not feeling crunchy.

This gel works well with the other Deva products. The Deva experts suggest that you use this product after you rinse out the conditioner. Put gel in your hand and with your hair soaking wet, apply to your ends and squeeze a little bit. You may slightly towel dry hair (best if you use with a micro-fiber towel) but try and leave it as wet as you can. Use your fingers to place your curls where you want them and avoid combing or brushing your hair.

Apply a generous amount while your hair is wet. It keeps the frizz out and curls under control but still flowey.

I have very thick, very curly hair that has been falling flat recently. It was to the point that I would have to take a curling iron to it and even then it would only be good for a few hours; not to mention the damage is was causing my ends. I did some research and decided to alter my beauty routine starting with the very basics; my shampoo and I have to say that even after only one use I'm a believer in the Deva Curl line. I bought a gift kit from my local Ulta and it was exactly what my hair needed. My best advice to any curly girl is to buy this stuff; even though it's a little more pricey than some of the drug-store stuff it's so worth it.
