Upper prong tip is uncoated. Perhaps it would be nice if you're just putting one in your hair more as an accent. Totally useless when it comes to pinning or securing hair up as we needed to do.

Comments about Hot Tools 2"" Curved Bobby Pins 90 Ct:

First of all, the packaging makes these look like normal, every-day bobby pins. I got home, opened them and they aren't the typical bobby pin I was looking for. One end looks like a "normal" ended bobby pin. Rounded with rubber. The other end though is just dumb. It literally looks like the other end was just chopped off. No rubber end on the other side. Which is funny because the packaging says "Simulated Rubber Tipped." I think they meant TIP. As in ONE end. The other is just open metal on the end and it pulls my hair out as I push it through my hair. And scratches really bad! If both ends were the rubber tip, I could see this working out okay. But since the (lets call it the) Special End doesn't have that ball tip coated in rubber, its impossible to open. Thank god my nails are already in need of being re-done, because it scratched the heck out of them. I was afraid the sharp end would jab underneath my fingernail bed trying to open it. I'm DEFINITELY going to be returning these. I work at Ulta, and I'll certainly not recommend these to anyone who asks. How do you screw up a bobby pin? I mean... really? Well congratulations Hot Tools.. You've figured out how.

These are by far the best bobby pins I've tried! Whenever I lose all of them (which is very often), I always wait to go to Ulta to pick up these! Good price and good quality!

These hold relatively well, if you can get them into your hair.
Part of the problem is, due to the curvature of the pin, the pin is hard to keep fully separated & can snag your hair when putting them in.
