Comments about Essence French Manicure Tip Guides:

I tried another reviewers suggestion to apply the strips to skin so they're not as tacky and that worked pretty well, but some of my polish still came off. So I put some lotion on my hands, let them dry a bit, then tried it again, and that worked perfectly! Just be sure your hands are almost completely dry or the strips will not stick to your nails. Now I can create great designs and French tips with no problem. Excellent value. I guess with the value comes extra prep work. However, I'll take it for at home designs.

    work great!

Comments about Essence French Manicure Tip Guides:

After reading other comments, I stuck each strip to the back of my hand 3-4 times to make them a little less sticky. I had a base coat and it stayed put when I took the strips off. I only did one hand at a time and was able to easily use the same 5 strips for both hands.

Comments about Essence French Manicure Tip Guides:

I've noticed that there are a lot of complaints about the stickers pulling off the base coat. What I've learned is that if you put the stickers directly onto your skin (I use the back of my hand) and pull them off a couple of times, then apply them to your nails, you shouldn't have any problems with excessive stickiness and should have great results! That technique has made these sooooo much easier to use!

I don't know why the bad reviews. I put the strip on the tip of my nails, apply the white polish first, wait till dries, then remove the white strip, then apply my base coat. My nails comes out BEAUTUFUL :) And the price is fabulous :) thankyou Ulta :)

Comments about Essence French Manicure Tip Guides:

Even once the base coat is completely dry, these guides peel off whatever they stick to. When used without a base coat, the line they leave is fine. (But if you're doing a french or trying to color block, there's going to be a coat underneath.)

Comments about Essence French Manicure Tip Guides:

I painted my nails using a base coat (China Glaze) and 1 coat of a very, very pale pink/neutral (Essie) polish. I let the polish dry and then applied the nail guides and painted white to the tops for a classic french manicure. Once the white polish dried, I removed the strips, and the strips ripped off my base coat and pale pink polish. Pretty disappointing. I guess the only way to use these strips is to not use a base coat first.

I mani my own nails and love a french style so I bought one of the white paint pens and use these guides for a perfect french mani. It helps if you buy a small, flat, straight tipped brush to dip in remover so you can straighten out any overflow of paint. I never see these in any of the Ulta stores, so I have to order them online.
