Comments about Real Techniques Core Collection:

I love these brushes. I am budget saving on brushes, so I am comparing these real techniques brushes to ELF. Real Tech. is way better than elf, they are softer but still sturdy. The only complaint is the white travel case?! Why make it white?? It will get dirty really quickly. I also like the travel case because there are two other slots that I can add two big brushes that I use for contour and foundation.

Comments about Real Techniques Core Collection:

I use each brush for a different use. I use the smallest one for under my eyes where I have dark circles. The one to the left for contouring both light and dark and it's easy to clean and then the one to the left to blend both under my eyes and my contouring. Then the one on the far right for my powder. There's all super soft don't left streaks for me if you use to much it will just make sure to really blend it. Love this though.

Comments about Real Techniques Core Collection:

I looked at reviews and decided to purchase them as a last resort set and they were a waste of money. The foundation brush I tried While my other brushes were drying and it felt scratchy and hurt my face I do not recommend and am very disappointed I would rather buy the black handled elf makeup brushes that are of way better quality than these or even the japonesque brushes which are a little bit pricey but still better than these face scratchers.

I purchased these brushes for my daughter who recently started wearing makeup. She loves them, but I have my own set and they are great. Real Techniques brushes are amazing and they are so soft. If you don't own any I would suggest a starter set just so you can get the feel of what they can do.

Hi Clueless (you are definitely not clueless, btw - that's a great question you asked!!) :)

The Core Collection is one my my all time favorites overall, but it also has my most favorite brush ever in it (the Buffing Brush), so I love talking about this set!

The smallest brush in the Core Collection is the Detailer Brush. Taking the description from Ulta.com, this brush is precision cut to effortlessly conceal problem areas; or, use with lipstick for long-lasting shape and definition

The brush that is flat and pointy is the Pointed Foundation Brush. You can use this one with liquid foundation to build custom coverage

The brush with the biggest head is the Buffing brush. This one is my favorite. It's perfect for cream or powder foundations and to get that full coverage look. It's also one of the best blending brushes around.

Finally, the brush that is fluffy, but slightly smaller than the Buffing Brush is the Contour Brush. This one is perfect for applying highlighter to contour or create sheer, soft-focus finish.

                        Hope that helps!

                        A:

                        Hi there,

Thanks so much for your question about the Buffing Brush in the Core Collection. I have to tell you that this brush is actually my personal favorite and I absolutely can't live without it.

It's a lovely, soft brush with a full bristle head that is perfect for buffing liquid or pressed liquid foundation. You will want to make sure your skin is fully moisturized before applying any product or using any brush. That will help with areas that are dry.

What I do when using this brush to apply foundation is to dab a small amount on the brush and start on the area of my face with the largest "surface area" (my cheeks). I use a slow and even buffing motion, working the brush to all areas that need coverage. You don't want to press too hard (which you won't need to since the brush is perfectly designed to hold product in the bristles & transfer flawlessly to your face). You also don't want to go too fast since that may irritate sensitive skin.

I think you will find that the softness of the bristles will work very well for you!

Thanks so much and let me know if you have any other questions!

                        A:

The Buffing Brush is not sold individually. The most similar brush that is sold individually is the Expert Face Brush:
                        http://www.ulta.com/ulta/browse/productDetail.jsp?productId=xlsImpprod4260015&skuId=2244502

The bristles are just as dense and will allow for great pickup/application, and it is meant to be used in the same way as the Buffing Brush in terms of applying product on your face. The difference is that the length of the bristles is much shorter. That allows more targeted application and slightly more coverage.

Additionally, the new Bold Metals Flat Contour Brush has a secondary use as a foundation brush:
                        http://www.ulta.com/ulta/browse/productDetail.jsp?productId=xlsImpprod11831013&skuId=2283104

It, too, has denser, shorter bristles, but the quality of the bristles on this brush is second to none! Additionally, the weighted handle allows for more control, leading to flawless looking skin.

We hope this extra info helps! :-)

At its widest point, the diameter of the Pointed Foundation Brush is just over 1.25".

The Detailer Brush is perfect for concealer application. Use the Contour Brush within this set to perfectly apply blush.
